PCA—It was a big day for Porsche Cars North America on Thursday with the official opening of its Porsche Experience Center (PEC) and headquarters in Atlanta.

The significance is clear: the new headquarters is the single largest investment the automaker has made in North America.

PCA—On the occasion of Porsche Cars North America’s opening of its new facility at One Porsche Drive, Porsche AG CEO Matthias Müller was present. As others did, he recognized the 60th anniversary of PCA and its current strength as the world’s largest single-marque car club. PCA’s Pete Stout sat down with Müller to discuss the current state of Porsche, and its future.

PCA—A group of fortunate PCA members touring Germany were surprised today by two GT3 RSs and a Cayman GT4 outside the Porsche Museum in Stuttgart. The members are taking part in the Spring Treffen organized by Fast Lane Travel, and while the factory is one of the stops, this treat was one of those cases of being in the right place at the right time.

MultiBriefs—I won't use the trendy word "throwback" because it's a tired word to describe a moment in time revisited for nostalgic reasons. Besides, I can't be nostalgic about 1966 anyway because I was never there; I suspect many of you reading this weren't either. So, I simply borrowed it.

There's no particular reason I chose the year 1966 — completely coincidental. You see, fellow PCA member and friend John Nitz recently gave me a box full of Porsche Panorama magazines to add to my already bulging collection that predates me, and it just so happens that I was missing large chunks of this decade's issues, Volume XI. So, I sparked up a cigar and belly flopped into No. 1, January of 1966, resurfacing hours later with No. 12.
 PCA—PCA Club Racers took to the a pair of the most premier facilities in North America this weekend when racing at Monticello Motor Club and Circuit of the Americas, which has hosted the US Grand Prix since 2012.

Autoweek—Word came late Wednesday that our friend, colleague, mentor and favorite staff race-car driver Denise McCluggage had passed away. She was 88.
 
The news was something of a shock because we, and maybe you, too, always believed she would be with us forever. Indeed, she had been on staff at Autoweek and its predecessor Competition Press from the beginning. She was a racer, and as such she understood other racers and could write about them far better than a sports writer who saw it as just another sport.

PCA—The Spring Member Only Raffle is open with a stunning grand prize: a Cayman GT4, the most performance-oriented model in the Cayman lineup stuffed with a 385-horsepower 3.8-liter flat six and GT3-derived suspension. If raffle entries pass 12,500, a Cayman GTS will be added to the mix — plus a Cayman S after 16,000 and a Cayman should members submit more than 19,000 entries! Of course, each prize includes $25,000 cash.
 
Flying Lizard Motorsports—As previously announced in early 2015, Flying Lizard Motorsports has returned to their Porsche roots and will be fielding Porsche race cars this season as an expansion of their customer racing program. This week, the team will be traveling to the Circuit of the Americas, fielding a two car entry in PCA Club racing GTA2 class with an RSR and a GT3R Porsche.

 PCA—The Porsche Club of America will hold it's second annual Werks Reunion Friday, August 14, 2015. It is the premier Porsche event during the world-famous "Monterey Car Week" on California's Monterey Peninsula. Thousands of spectators are expected to descend on the fairways at Rancho Cañada Golf Club and will be treated to a stunning display of more than 700 Porsches — from “rat rods” to garage queens — and enjoy the camaraderie of fellow car enthusiasts.

Autoweek—It wasn't that long ago that the Porsche 911 Turbo, the famous 930 model, could be found in good condition for the price of a new Volkswagen Golf. The 930 Turbo that debuted in the late '70s has always been known as a driver's car. Even as recently as 15 years ago, it was still considered a used sports car that was difficult to drive, offering few of the comforts that would be expected in a 911. And 930 Turbos weren't particularly sought after by those looking for an easygoing weekend cruiser.
