PCA—When we heard that a local PCA member had taken delivery of his Porsche Cayman GT4, we knew we had to get a closer look. Fortunately the car's owner, Mike Levitas, is also the owner of TPC Racing (Rolex 24 champions), and he agreed to give us a technical breakdown of the GT4.

PCA—The second annual Werks Reunion is this Friday — save the date if you love cars and are looking for something to do. It is the premier Porsche event during the world-famous "Monterey Car Week" on California's Monterey Peninsula. From 7 AM to 4 PM, attendees will be treated to a stunning display of 700 classic and new Porsches, special presentations, vendor booths, celebrity guests, and a few surprises. PCAers, pay attention to PCA's Facebook, Twitter, and Instagram pages, as well as the Werks Reunion Facebook page, during the event for a chance to win prizes.

 PCA—John "Jack" Case, who was the second-to-last surviving Porsche Club of America charter member, passed away on July 25, 2015. He was 92 years old. His wife Ginny passed away two-and-a-half years ago.


I had the honor of having Jack and Ginny as friends for more than 20 years. I can't remember ever seeing one without the other. They were inseparable.

PCA—We started our day in Spokane, Washington, in the Pacific Time Zone, after leaving the Mountain Time Zone yesterday. Still with our host, Inland Northwest Region, we headed south through eastern Washington — wheat country.

The scenery is of rolling hills, amber waves of wheat, punctuated by little oases of trees and lawn in front of the wheat farmers’ houses. In the distance we could see dust clouds rising from the fields stirred up by the combines — the machines used for harvesting.

Leftlane News—Local media outlets report that Porsche asked a British company to build a 65-foot tall sculpture in front of its museum in Zuffenhausen, Germany, to showcase the 2016 911, a 1981 model and a relatively early model built in 1970. Porsche forgot to check the weather, and winds blew the covers off of the 2016 model, giving us an early look at it.

PCA—After two years as the TUDOR United SportsCar Championship (TUSC), the title sponsor of the race series will be WeatherTech in 2016. The International Motor Sports Associaten (IMSA) and WeatherTech announced last weekend that the series will be called IMSA WeatherTech SportsCar Championship from 2016 through 2026.
Porsche—Today’s One-Two GT Le Mans (GTLM) class victory at the Continental Tire Road Race Showcase makes it three in a row for Porsche and the venerable 911 RSR, after customer Falken Tire’s win at Sahlen’s Six Hours of the Glen in June and the factory-prepared 911 RSR effort at Canadian Tire Motorsports Park three weeks ago. Team Porsche North America’s first and second place GTLM class finish moves Porsche into the lead in the TUDOR Untied Sports Car GTLM Manufacture championship battle.

Art of Gears via Fansided—Never in our wildest dreams would someone think, “Hmm. You know what would make a great brake pad? My I Phone?!” Thanks to the guys at EverythingApplePro on their video they dropped earlier today (Aug. 10, 2015) we get to see what happens when this guy replaces his all eight front  and rear brake pads with IPhone 5S’s and 4S’s.

Jalopnik—The Porsche 918 Spyder got a number of retro paint schemes (including Martini) so far, but nothing of the iconic blue and orange of Gulf. Well, until now.

Autocar—Audi has entered a joint engineering programme with Volkswagen Group sister company Porsche to develop a new range of turbocharged V6 and V8 petrol engines, Autocar can reveal.

The engines are based around a common 90deg architecture and are planned to feature a common 500cc individual cylinder capacity, giving the new V6 an overall displacement of 3.0 litres and the new V8 4.0 litres.

InAutoNews—The Cars & Coffee event in Aliso Viejo, California, over the past weekend, has seen the debut of a Porsche Cayman GT4 Taxi. The model in question has a Racing Yellow factory color along with a taxi box fitted to its roof but this won’t be used by an exotic cab company for marketing, so don’t expect to take joyrides in it anytime soon.
