Motor Trend—Conspiracy theorists will tell you that Porsche has been trying to keep the Cayman down since day one in order to protect the precious 911. Whether or not that's true, the Stuttgart-based automaker has finally endowed the mid-engine sports car with 911 power.

PCA—In the August 2015 issue, Kerry Morse brings us in-depth coverage of Porsche at Le Mans in 2015 and through the years. Read the story of Bev Gould and her early 911 in Ada Lee Halofsky's "Her Targa Becomes Her." Want to know more about Fuchs the company? Helmut Werb gives us the lowdown in "Wheels Are Turning."  The OEM-plus movement may be waning, but one PCAer took it upon himself to make his 911 Carrera GTS his own through tasteful, factory-like modifications in "à la Carte" by James Tate. Home-based vehicle restorations can give headaches just as easily as enjoyment, but a man and his son see their 944's home restoration as therapy in Ted West's "Orphan in the Storm."

Sports Car Digest—The Porsche Werks Reunion 2015 was held Friday, August 14th at the Rancho Canada Golf Club in Carmel Valley, California. Hosted by the Porsche Club of America, the second edition of this single-marque event was met with an overwhelming amount of show goers and all told, over 700 Porsches in attendance from every generation.

MultiBriefs—Monterey Car Week ended two weekends ago, and as usual Porsche had a good presence at the events on the California coast. Porsche may not have had a display at Pebble Beach as they did just a few years ago, but at the annual Concours d'Elegance a very special Porsche was on display.

Porsche—The One-Two GT Le Mans (GTLM) class and overall victory at today’s Oak Tree Grand Prix at VIR makes it four in a row for Porsche and three in a row for the Porsche North America factory team, and the second straight race for a one-two finish with the iconic 911 RSR in the TUDOR United Sports Car Series.

Mazda Raceway Laguna Seca—Ed.: Porsche bills Rennsport Reunion as "the world’s largest gathering of Porsche racecars, renowned drivers, and Porsche collector cars," and we have no reason to believe the fifth one will be any different. The official poster for Rennsport Reunion V has been circling around the Internet for months in digital format, and now you can pre-order the official poster on Laguna Seca's website for $25. Motorsports.com—Porsche is going to race the 919 Hybrid for the first time on home soil. From August 28 to 30 the fourth of eight rounds of the FIA World Endurance Championship will be held at the Nürburgring. The six-hour race in the Eifel mountains is the first ever appearance in Germany for the WEC which has run since 2012. In the field of 31 cars, Porsche is entering two of its Porsche 919 Hybrids in the top category LMP1 (class one Le Mans Prototypes).

The Absolute Sound—The high-end audio community suffered a tragic and unexpected loss on August 15, when Dieter Burmester passed away in Berlin after a short but severe illness. The loss was tragic because Burmester, who founded and led his namesake company until his death, was both a pioneer and a hi-fi industry visionary. It was unexpected due to Burmester’s unfailing energy and passion, including his typically animated presence at this year’s Munich High End exhibition. Indeed, Burmester’s vitality was such that none of us who knew and interacted with him would have ever suspected he was 69.

Purists will say the prototype 356, a sleek mid-engine number with a tube chassis, called No. 1 was the first Porsche. But the lightweight, aerodynamic 356, introduced in 1948, was the marque’s first production model.

Metropolitan New York Region. “This is my 1985 911.  This car has taken a number of awards in Metro NY region concours events over the past three years.  It was found in upstate New York for sale by the original owner who had it garaged for a number of years prior to offering it for sale.  The car currently has 54,000 on the clock and runs like a top.”
