e-Brake News: Porsche unveils new turbocharged engines in revised 911 Carrera lineup [w/video]

PCA—Porsche just unveiled the “new” Carrera lineup that is powered by twin-turbocharged 3.0-liter flat sixes, making the 911 GT3 and GT3 RS the only 911s you can buy that don’t have turbos. The turbocharged Carreras hit the market in March 2016.

PCA—PCA Club Racing is proud to announce that it will host the Sholar-Friedman Cup race group (Group 1) during Rennsport Reunion V (RRV) September 25-27 at Mazda Raceway Laguna Seca. This is the second Rennsport Reunion at Laguna Seca to have a PCA Club Racing run group.

The Sholar-Friedman Cup will have 50 racers from multiple classes, ensuring a wide variety of cars that range from factory-built GT3 Cups to modified air-cooled 911s to Caymans and even stock race cars. The 50 PCA Club Racers represent club Regions and Zones throughout North America. Sholar-Friedman Cup windshield banners will distinguish their Porsches.

Group 1 will be on track all three days at RRV. On Friday there will be two practice sessions, one at 8 AM and the other at 1:20 PM. The qualifying session is on Saturday at 8 AM. Warm-up on Sunday is at 8 AM, followed by the Sholar-Friedman Cup race at 10:45 AM. Be sure to attend the podium awards after the race.

PCA—PCA—Porsche Club of America National Office is hosting its open house on September 12, and we want to see you here!

We host an open house annually, and tons of PCAers make the trip. We're expecting more than 200 Porsches to attend. Space is limited, and you must register to attend. Once registered, you'll be sent a confirmation email.

Expect a special guest, special cars, door prizes, and more! Michelin will give away a set of tires, B-Line Express is giving away several GoPros, Auto Armour is giving away one clear-bra installation, and Chesapeake Region member Charles Visconage donated a Fuchs wheel clock for one lucky guest. The PCA 60th Anniversary Museum will also be on display.

Hollywood Wheels Auctions and Shows is catering Mission BBQ for the event. There are 75 openings for tours of the National Office by the Executive Director (first come, first serve) and the PCA Goodie Store will be open the whole time.

Petrolicious—In the fourth generation of a family of coachbuilders, Rosita grew up surrounded in every way by cars, from the Ferraris her mechanic father picked her up from school in, to the toy cars he brought home for his children. Thing is, even though the family worked on primarily Italian cars, her father's true love was with Porsche.

South China Morning Post—I grew up in Quarry Bay. There weren't many tall buildings and wasn't much traffic, so we played on the streets. I was a bit of a rebel. The more my dad forbid me to do things, the more I would do them - and get beaten up for it. So we didn't have a good relationship. But, fortunately, I was spoiled by my mum; she was my backbone. I was bad at school, especially at Mandarin - I was bottom of the class. We started learning English in secondary school, and it was there we had to choose our English name. I picked Pinky because my Mum used to call me Pinky instead of Lai Ping.
MultiBriefs—I was driving my Cayman with an associate who was getting one of her rare trips in my Porsche — rare because she does not share the same level of affection I do for my car. Understanding the mindset of someone who loves everything associated with exceptional design and engineering is completely beyond her reasoning, so I don't often feel compelled to invite her along.

Automobile—Singer Vehicle Design has become the name in breathing new life into old Porsches, and with good reason. But Singer proprietor Rob Dickinson wasn’t the first to come up with the concept — not even close. U.K.-based Autofarm could claim to have given Dickinson a touch of inspiration for his future plans; in fact, there is a dust-covered bottle of champagne in its office, sent by Dickinson himself, with a “thank you” card.

Venture Capitalist Post—A reversal of roles takes place at Volkswagen AG, with the selection of its chief financial officer, Hans Dieter Pötsch, as chairman.

The appointment dashes the hopes of Pötsch's current boss, Martin Winterkorn, of being chairman himself.

It also puts him in charge of 68-year-old Winterkorn, whose contract as chief executive had just been extended by two years when Pötsch's appointment was announced Thursday.

Petrolicious—When over 700 Porsches show up to an event, you realize the Porsche community is second to none. The Porsche brand is more than a marque. It is a brand that links generations and fosters relationships. I met some incredible individuals during my time at the Werks Reunion all more than happy to talk about the history of their cars.
The Globe and Mail—Porsche chief Matthias Mueller eased the fears – at least partially – of true Porschefiles around the globe earlier this year. The brand’s customers, he told the annual conference in Germany, “don’t want a smartphone on four wheels or the biggest touchscreen in the centre console. At Porsche there’s no room for window dressing.”

Automotive News—Porsche employees moved into the company’s new $100 million North American headquarters in Atlanta in January. The integrated Porsche Experience Center, a test track and other attractions, were unveiled in early May. Now U.S. dealers are using the facility to entertain clients.
