PCA—In September, my Dad and I took a trip to Salt Lake City and started a four-day tour of some of the most beautiful national parks in the United States. The first day we visited Arches and Canyonlands in Moab, Utah and then drove to Four Corners National Monument. We drove through Northern Arizona to the North Rim of the Grand Canyon, and then back into Utah and visited Zion National Park and Bryce Canyon before heading up to Provo, Utah for our return trip to Philadelphia... I suppose the worst part of the trip was the Hyundai rental SUV, which at the end of the day frankly wasn’t that bad, but it would have been more fun in my old Cayenne.

PCA—In this issue, Preston Lerner reports on the spectacle that was Rennsport Reunion V in “RRV.” Porsche stuffed a V8 race engine into two 914 prototypes in 1969, and one of them became “Piëch’s Plaything,” as you’ll find out in Tom Cotter’s story. Rick Bye has faced more adversity than most, yet the Canadian Porsche racing star in Lorraine Sommerfeld’s “Survivor” is intent on making the dreams of those less fortunate than him come true. The term “sleeper” when applied to a vehicle usually means: looks slow, goes fast — not the case for one 1985 911 Carrera in “Seely’s Sleeper,” by Tom M’Guinness. Alex and Gale Galloway’s pristine Panamera 4S in Ada Lee Halofsky’s “Connecting Roads” is an autocrosser, concours winner, and a source of healing.

PCA—Porsche has an important message for drivers this holiday season: don’t text and drive because even Porsche Factory Driver Mark Webber can’t do it. The automaker brought out the cameras and filmed a humorous video demonstrating the effects of distracted driving on track in a pure-bred race car, and yes, despite the unlikely scenario, it held our attention and got the point across.

Car and Driver—​The big news out of Stuttgart for 2017 is that the 911 Carrera and Carrera S are now turbocharged. That’s right, turbos aren’t just for 911 Turbos anymore.

Jalopnik—For some people, letting another person drive their car is on the same level as letting another person “have a go” with their significant other. It’s nothing personal, but we just can’t allow it. Jalopnik readers would never hand over the keys of the ten cars below. (Ed.: Can you guess which two Porsches made the list? The photo offers a clue...)
Petrolicious—“This car garners attention from everyone,” says Grant Karnes, “and I think it kind of draws everybody in to what Porsche is.”

Owned by a family friend who later sold it to his father, Karnes had known about and lusted after this particular car for years. A Porsche 911 Turbo, otherwise called the “930”, is a car worth lusting after.

Yahoo Autos—Don’t let the mild exterior updates confuse you: the 2017 Porsche 911 is one of the most important updates to one of the most important cars of all time. 
WorldCarFans.com—Porsche’s boss of human machine interface Lutz Krauss considers gesture control technology as being just “hype” and “gimmick”, at least in the foreseeable future.

Speaking to CarAdvice, the man responsible for Porsche’s HMI described gesture control as a gimmick and he believes the current technology is not advanced enough to be implemented on current production cars, but admits that in the future when the algorithms will evolve, a more intelligent gesture control system could prove to be handy.

PCA—​Join your fellow Porsche Club of America members at Porsche Parade 2016, Jay Peak, Vermont. 

Parade is PCA's annual, weeklong event when thousands of members descend upon a new location every year to explore in their Porsches — often in Parade-organized driving tours — in addition to other events such as autocross, concours, time-speed-distance and gimmick rallies.
Autoblog—It's about $2,560 to you and me, pilgrim. Porsche is cutting the price of its Panamera S E-Hybrid by $3,400 for our neighbors to the north. In US dollars, that's a haircut of about $2,560. Of course, the premium SUV plug-in hybrid is no bargain, even in Canadian dollars. The sticker price now comes in at C$106,000 for the parallel plug-in hybrid.

SportsCar 365—Porsche intensifies the support of talented youngsters in motorsport. In the 2016 season, four young drivers will be trained as professional racing drivers in the Porsche one-make race series. 
PCA—PCA—The Executive Council has appointed Ken Hold, Bluegrass Region; Jennifer Webb, Upper Canada Region; and Tom Provasi, Loma Prieta Region as members of the 2016 Nominating Committee. The committee is carrying out its responsibilities in accordance with the Bylaws, the National Manual of Procedures, and the Region Procedures Manual. Its goal is to consider, identify, and select the best possible slate of candidates to fill the Officer roles in our Executive Council and lead the Porsche Club of America for the next two year term. As part of this process, the Committee actively seeks feedback from PCA’s regions on those talented individuals who have the enthusiasm, dedication, and leadership to serve on the Executive Council. UPDATE (11-5-2015): The deadline to get suggestions to any member of the committee has been extended to no later than December 31, 2015.
