PCA—Perhaps you've been waiting for Porsche Classic's radio for months, since its European release in February, and wondered why you can't buy one here in North America just yet.
Porsche Classic Product Manager Bucky Melvin spoke with us on camera at PCA's Tech Tactics West in November and told us what we've been waiting to hear: The North American version of the radio will be available to purchase in the first quarter of 2016.

The Car Connection—Last fall, in response to the ongoing Dieselgate emissions-cheating scandal, Volkswagen rolled out a gift card program to VW and Audi owners in the U.S.

It didn't go over especially well. Many critics said that the program's $1,000 worth of benefits -- $500 in the form of a prepaid Visa that can be used anywhere, $500 as a voucher redeemable at participating Volkswagen dealerships -- were too little, too late. But such criticisms aren't stopping Volkswagen from expanding the program to include 85,000 VW, Audi, and Porsche 3.0-liter diesels sold in the U.S.

CheatSheet—Let’s face it, Americans are out of touch with their clutch. A report by Fox News shows that only 10% of vehicles manufactured in North America were equipped with a manual transmission in 2014, and according to the consulting firm IHS Automotive, it is only going to get worse. This is in stark contrast to numbers from 1980, when U.S. auto makers were equipping around 35% of all vehicles with a manual gearbox.

Racer/Porsche—In 2016, Porsche’s sole full factory GT factory program worldwide will be campaigned here in the North America. For the third consecutive season, Porsche North America will operate the two-car “works” Porsche 911 RSR in the newly renamed WeatherTech SportsCar Championship GT Le Mans (GTLM) class.

Bloomberg—Porsche expects sales growth to slow this year as newly arriving models fall short of the lift generated in 2015 by the addition of the Macan compact sport utility vehicle.
 
Curbed—Porsche announced the groundbreaking of a new luxury hotel on the campus of its Porsche Experience Center last week. The center is in Hapeville near Hartsfield-Jackson International Airport, and the adjacent hotel is expected to open next year.

Reuters—Jan 12 A German court on Tuesday ruled in favour of Porsche SE, denying a shareholder's appeal against a lower court's decision to dismiss a claim seeking damages from Porsche for its botched attempt to take over carmaker Volkswagen in 2008.

Bloomberg—Two former Porsche SE executives on trial for market manipulation related to a failed takeover of Volkswagen AG received a boost as a German judge labeled prosecutors’ latest theory of the case incomprehensible.

MultiBriefs—Throughout 2015, the self-driving automobile was still heralded as something of a futuristic idea. Typically, when an autonomous Google car was spotted in the streets of tech hubs like Silicon Valley or Austin, Texas, it usually grabbed headlines.
 
However, at last week's annual Consumer Electronics Show in Las Vegas — typically a far cry from anything resembling an auto show — a variety of automakers and tech companies made the message loud and clear: The era of the self-driving car is coming soon, and it won't stay a novelty for long.
