PCA—The biggest Porsche festival in the world — Rennsport Reunion V — is this weekend. We can think of no better way to build (warranted) excitement for the event than recording factory driver Patrick Long practicing behind the wheel of a 917K.

PCA—The schedule for the Porsche Club of America hospitality tent is now available. And what you've all been waiting for will happen on Saturday at 1:30 PM: The winner of the #01 911 GTS Club Coupe will be announced!

Throughout the weekend we will also have exclusive VIP guests speaking at the tent, including Andreas Preuninger, who will introduce us to the new turbocharged 911 Carrera; August Achleitner head of the 911 model line; Alwin Springer of Andial fame; racing legend Brian Redman; Patrick Dempsey of Dempsey Racing; and many more! All Porsche owners are welcome and may gain admittance with their PCA member card or Porsche key. (Schedule is subject to change; check in with PCA Hospitality regularly during the event for updates.)

PCA—Porsches come in many different configurations, from Boxters to 911s, Caymans to Cayennes, and more. Add in the various engines, colors, wheels, interiors, and the list just keeps going. Porsche’s list of factory options is one of the most extensive in the industry. So how could one alter a fine piece of machinery any further? Well, people do take steps beyond the realm of the Porsche factory, and one of them is a Germany-based tuning company called TechArt.

In the late 1980s, in Germany, Thomas Behringer started TechArt after gaining experience working with another sports car tuning company. He wanted to up the ante on tuner parts’ fit and quality while keeping in step with the latest models from Porsche.

Porsche—For the third race in a row, a Porsche 919 Hybrid has won overall at a World Endurance Championship (WEC) race. For the second time in a row, a Porsche 911 RSR has won the GTE-Pro category. In the TUDOR United Sports Car Championship, the No. 911 Porsche 911 RSR of team Porsche North America finished in third, after four straight race wins in the series.
PCA—It's time for Petit Le Mans.  The Petit Le Mans (French for little Le Mans) is a sports car endurance race held annually at Road Atlanta in Braselton, Georgia, USA. Porsche Cars North America and PCA will have a Porscheplatz and Porsche corral. Buy corral passes now!

Popular Science—The Mission E electric sports car that Porsche unveiled at the Frankfurt auto show is a concept, but the technology that it showcases is not just conceptual.

Powering the Mission E is a unique 800-volt electric drive system that operates at twice the voltage of current electric vehicles.

Motor Trend—Porsche’s all-electric Mission E concept debuted at the Frankfurt Motor Show with some lofty claims: 590 horsepower, 310 miles of range, and a 0-60-mph time around 3.5 seconds, all thanks to an 800-volt powertrain that Porsche claims can recharge to 80 percent of full capacity in only 15 minutes. We don’t know how true any of that is, but we do know the Mission E showcases a truly slick design.

We were lucky enough to snag some quick “back of the napkin” sketches from Mission E designers Emiel Burki and Felix Godard.

Road & Track—It's that time of the year again. We're spending this week on the roads of rural Kentucky and Tennessee, as well as two days at the National Corvette Museum's race track, to decide which of these eight cars will be crowned R&T's performance car of the year.

In order to pick the eight, we had to be pretty picky. The cars had to be significantly updated versus the year before (so no BMW M3, no Alfa 4C, no Nissan GT-R), and they also had to be at the top of the performance bracket, which means that even though it pains us so, cars like the Mazda Miata had to be left behind.

AdWeek—On Sept. 30, 1955, James Dean lost his life behind the wheel of a Porsche 550 Spyder. Zipping down a stretch of California highway at dusk en route to a race in Salinas, Dean's car, nicknamed "Little Bastard," plowed into a Ford coupe at the junction of Routes 46 and 41. For many Americans, news accounts of the Hollywood icon's death marked the first time they'd heard of Porsche, which had, by most accounts, sold just a few thousand vehicles in the United States at the time.

PCA—Volkswagen, Porsche's parent company, is involved in a nasty scandal surrounding its diesel engines. VW has admitted to installing a "defeat device" program designed to fool emissions tests in 11-million four-cylinder TDI models worldwide. You may be wondering: How does this affect Porsche?
 
VW Group models from 2009-2014 equipped with the 2.0-liter four-cylinder TDI are the only vehicles reported to have the emissions-cheating program. In the US, that means VW and Audi vehicles are affected. However, according to a report by The Detroit News, the Environmental Protection Agency is expanding its investigation to include models equipped with the VW-sourced 3.0-liter diesel V6 found in the Porsche Cayenne Diesel.

I was once stopped by the California Highway Patrol while going across the Golden Gate Bridge in San Francisco. As the officer was approaching my car after I brought it to a stop, the conversation went as follows: ‘Officer, what is it that I did wrong?’ His response with a BIG smile on his face was, ‘Nothing, exactly. I just saw this boat going across the bridge and I could not see anything pulling it. I just had to find out what is was.’ He was chuckling as he returned to his cruiser.”
