Autoblog—A proposal by the
Environmental Protection Agency could mean bad things for racers and car enthusiasts across the United States. According to the Specialty Equipment Market Association (SEMA), the EPA wants to make it illegal to modify your roadgoing car for racing, and could even prohibit the sale of aftermaket parts that mess with emission control devices.
Autoblog—In any attempt to clarify
its position on the modification of vehicles to be used solely for competition purposes, the Environmental Protection Agency has issued a statement to Autoblog. While we appreciate the effort to clear the air (sorry... pun intended), in reality, we're left with just as many questions as we started with.
Motor Authority—Fans of Porsche’s track-focused 911 GT3 can look
forward to an updated version of the car coming later this year. The complete 911 range is currently undergoing its mid-cycle update, with the most recent model to be updated being the Turbo. It looks like the next will be the GT3, which our source says could debut in updated form very soon.

Road & Track—The automotive world was initially shocked to hear Matt LeBlanc was joining the revamped Top Gear, but his inclusion slowly started to make sense. The BBC pointed out that he's a
serious car guy and reminded us that he holds the fastest celebrity lap on Top Gear.
Forbes—New cars just aren’t what they used to be. No, we’re not getting all crotchety and decrying the evolution in styling
and technological breakthroughs that have literally reinvented the automobile during the last quarter millennium. Rather, we’re bemoaning the fact that, unlike as in past model years, there’s a dearth of truly wretched cars on the market for us to openly and readily ridicule.
SpeedHunters—Everyone should drive a good Porsche once in their life.
Even better, you should drive a bad-ass classic Porsche. It’s always easy to knock ‘mainstream’ brands like this, but the truth is that reputations aren’t built on hollow foundations.
Racer—Porsche's pair of 919 Hybrids
will wear new numbers when the 2016 FIA World Endurance Championship kicks off on April 17 in Silverstone.
The German brand will switch from the Nos. 17 and 18 its full-time entries wore for Nos. 1 and 2 in honor of the Drivers' and Manufacturers' championships the V4 turbo-powered entries claimed last year.
Ars Technica—When we last met CJ Wilson Racing, the team had just won the 2015 Street Tuner championship in the Continental Tires Sportscar Challenge. For 2016, this racing team led by the Major League Baseball star of the same name has stepped up to Grand Sport, the top class in the Continental series. Autosport.com—The ongoing safety upgrade of the Porsche Curves at
Le Mans will continue with the addition of more US-style SAFER barriers.
The new barriers will be located on the exit of the first part of the double left after the right-hander that leads into the famous section of the Circuit de la Sarthe.
Top Gear—This is, quite literally, where it all began. Ignoring the
Type 64 racer, the 356 of 1948 was Porsche’s first production car. All 356s were fitted with flat-four engines of varying displacements, origins and power outputs. Early ones made do with modified versions of the Volkswagen Beetle’s flat-four, but Porsche upped the compression ratio, added twin carburetors and fitted lightweight aluminium cylinders to up the brake horsepower to something approaching, erm, 50.
