PCA—The Porsche Club of America's prospective owner’s program, Quest, was recently renamed and rebranded as PCA Test Drive.
Benefits of the program — including a six-month subscription to Porsche Panorama, access to The Mart classifieds and Tech Q&A, and more — have been retained, with the notable addition of Test Drive News, a monthly email newsletter offering guidance to those looking to purchase a Porsche.

PCA—With sunny skies, a light breeze, and weather in the mid-70's, more than 150 Porsches competed in Porsche Club of America's 2016 Oktoberfast at Daytona presented by Porsche of Melbourne at the legendary Daytona International Speedway over the weekend.

PCA—One thing I've learned over the years is, it's never a deal until the car is on your trailer. People promise they will hold the car until you get there, promise you have a deal, promise to sell the car for the agreed price, and it doesn't mean anything until you are leaving and the car is on your trailer.

PCA—The PCA National Nominating Committee would like to announce the following slate of officers for the Executive Council for the 2017-2018 term:

Car and Driver—In an industry that lives and dies by the sales of Camrys and pickup trucks, advocating for enthusiasts sometimes feels like standing in a raging river and shouting at it to reverse course. Manu­al transmissions are slipping toward oblivion. Fuel-economy regulations are driving diversity from manufacturers’ engine port­folios, replacing it with efficient homogeneity. And perhaps most worrying is the proliferation of crossovers. They’re like an algal bloom threatening to choke out all other life-forms in the interest of easy ingress and a commanding driver’s position.

Jalopnik—The Porsche 911 is possibly one of the most delightfully stubborn cars ever. Porsche has retained the 911's rear-engine layout since it evolved from the KdF-Wagens back in the 1930s. As much as I love an ass-engine, there are times when it may not be the best solution, and now even Porsche seems to agree, at least on their new GT racer.
 
Car and Driver—As with a fine wine, the desirability of a Porsche Cayman can be a relative matter. Just as there’s arguably no bad batch of Château Margaux Bordeaux, there are only best, better, and good Caymans. The best cost more than the base model tested for this report, which tilts toward the merely excellent end of the spectrum—still among the world’s best sports cars, but not the way we’d order one for our own garage. Our track testing and road experience reveal why.

Motor1—In typical Porsche fashion, the cosmetic tweaks brought by the imminent facelift for the 911 GT3 are on a subtle level, up to the point that some will have problems identifying the changes. Fans of the Stuttgart-based marque will however be able to spot the mildly reshaped front outer air intakes and slimmer LED daytime running lights lending the high-performance coupe a sleeker fascia.

Car and Driver—The wonderful thing about the Porsche 914 is that until recently, examples have been relatively inexpensive and quite plentiful, making the mid-engined runabout a fine platform on which to build the owner’s dream car. The downside is that, well, some owners have questionable dreams. This 914-8 GTS offers up a mishmash of cues from a variety of automobiles, and what’s more, it can be yours in just over a week’s time!
 
Road & Track—All of us hope to create our own dream garage. Such a place is a sanctuary for gearheads to store and work on their cars, and make memories with friends and family. Larry Kosilla of AMMO NYC finally made his perfect garage become a reality after purchasing a new home. Luckily, he recorded the entire process on video, so anyone can learn how to turn an average suburban garage into a car palace.

Petrolicious—The shorter daylight hours of October means more time inside for reading. This month, I picked up tomes about the enigmatic car culture of Cuba, a conversational memoir about a supremely talented Porsche racing engineer, and the restoration diary of a rare Ferrari. All very different, and all very good—at least, in this reviewer’s humble opinion. Moreover, I’m just grateful in this internet age that printed books still exist, and the good news is there are more worthwhile automotive books than ever before.

MultiBriefs—Last weekend was the annual weekend for getting the garage ready for another Michigan winter. This involves getting all of the cars, the lawn tractor, etc., back into the garage in a somewhat orderly and efficient arrangement — with the goal being that I can work on any of the four cars during the winter without having to put one of them outside to make working space.

Motor Trend—Porsche keeps polishing its jewel. Just when you think the engineers in Weissach couldn’t make one of the world’s definitive sports cars any better, they roll out a 911 that does just that.
 
Road & Track—The sun has become staccato, a stippled Dopplering twinkle through a fast-forward canopy of trees, accelerated from a single scene into a 24-frame-per-second motion picture by the Porsche 911 Turbo S and the politely muted howl of its 580-hp twin-turbo flat-six.

I mentioned to my wife that driving these roads would be a lot more fun in a ‘fun’ car. Then, in late 2013, I was shopping for a new car and my wife asked me, ‘Why don’t you just do what you’ve wanted to do since I met you and BUY A NEW PORSCHE?!’ After I picked my jaw up off the floor, I wholeheartedly agreed with her. When it was announced that the Escape for 2015 was in the Black Hills, I told my wife we had to go. Escape 2015 was our first national event and we had a blast. Here is a picture of our 2014 Cayman at Badlands National Park.”
