PCA—Every year the automotive aftermarket industry convenes in Los Vegas for its biggest trade show of the year: the SEMA show. The Specialty Equipment Market Association, as it’s known in longhand, is a crucial event for industry professionals to show off their companies’ wares, foster industry relationships, and learn about the latest and greatest contraptions to hit store and warehouse shelves.

PCA—With dozens of drivers competing in the new, track-only Cayman GT4 Clubsport race car, the PCA Club Racing Porsche Cayman GT4 Clubsport Trophy East series wrapped up its successful inaugural season in late October at Daytona International Speedway, crowning Keith Jensen and Rene Robichaud as champions in the respective Championship and Masters classes.

PCA—The PCA National Nominating Committee would like to announce the following slate of officers for the Executive Council for the 2017-2018 term:

Rennlist—There is something that just looks off about this 993 that we spotted at SEMA this week. It’s obviously got a strange body kit on it, and perhaps the body has been widened as well. The hood shutlines certainly don’t look right, and the fenders seem more laid-down than usual. Can you tell at first glance what’s going on here, or do you need a double or triple take to figure it out?

CarAdvice—The Porsche 911 is possibly one of the most delightfully stubborn cars ever. Porsche has retained the 911's rear-engine layout since it evolved from the KdF-Wagens back in the 1930s. As much as I love an ass-engine, there are times when it may not be the best solution, and now even Porsche seems to agree, at least on their new GT racer.

Road & Track—The original Volkswagen Bus, while extremely stylish and very desirable, isn't the first car that comes to mind for a trackday car build. Nonetheless, this Swiss owner thought it would be a sane idea to swap in a top-of-the-line turbo Porsche engine, and create one of the wildest performance vehicles to ever wear the VW badge.

Top Gear—Of course we went over the Alps. Because if you have to drive a couple of sports cars from a factory in southern Germany to the Red Bull Ring in deepest Austria and fail to take in at least one Alpine pass, well, that’s a dereliction of duty. That two museums dedicated to one of those marques lie at either side of the Grossglockner Pass is nothing more than a happy coincidence.
 
AutoGuide—When Porsche released the Cayenne back in 2002, it did so with a purpose, hoping to boost its stock with a model for the masses.

And it worked, with the brand’s first four-door propping it up in a way the 911 never could while creating a case for more non-sports cars from Stuttgart.

Porsche via YouTube—Eleven vehicles, eleven different histories, eleven roaring engines: The sixth Porsche Sound Night again took visitors on a journey through the history of motorsport at Porsche. (Ed.: The presenters in the video speak German. Fortunately, engine notes transcend language.)
 
Bloomberg—Porsche has finally dropped all the info on the 2017 Porsche Panamera. Consumers will be pleased: The company has hit a home run, as it were, on this second-generation luxury sedan.

MultiBriefs—The North Florida Region of the Porsche Club of America participated in the Main Street Autos & Oysters Classic Car Show held Oct. 29 in Apalachicola, Florida.
 
Magnus Walker via YouTube—I recently had the opportunity to meet up with Sung Kang and drive his Datsun 240z, called the FuguZ, on my favorite road Angeles Crest highway. It was a cool day swapping cars and driving something different in the crest for a change. My favorite thing about this car was that it revved to 9000rpm!

The Drive—Porsche has never been about all-out, brutish power—that’s just not how the automaker builds cars. Its approach has always been holistic, focusing on creating a cohesive package where each driving dynamic is weighed equally against the others. The result, for the most part, has been magic on rubber: 911s have outperformed brawnier rivals or generations, overpowering them with balance and grace.

Digital Trends—Porsche Design puts its name on a stunningly attractive, very high-spec smartphone that costs way more than it should.

Huawei calls the Porsche Design version of the Mate 9, “the best smartphone ever made,” and Huawei certainly made it clear the relationship between the two firms would never have gone ahead if that wasn’t the end goal.
 
Carscoops—Dig Porsches? A 911 Turbo will get you where you're going in a hurry, and put a big smile on your face in the process. But if you're looking for the truly exotic from Zuffenhausen, Milan will be the place to be later this month for RM Sotheby's Duemila Ruote sale.

Road & Track—Jaguar Land Rover has been making attempts at buying or leasing the home of the British Grand Prix, Silverstone Circuit, for nearly a year now, encountering a number of roadblocks on the way. At one point, the British automaker wanted to move its company headquarters to the track. But now, it's giving up on Silverstone entirely. (Ed.: I swear this has something to do with Porsche...)

The Drive—I'm something of an oddity in that I spend most of my day thinking about Porsche, and some of my nights. Last night I awoke from slumber coated in a sheen of perspiration with an idea. I jotted it down in my bedside notebook and went back to sleep. Upon awaking this morning, I re-read that note, and it read simply "Color Matched Wheels!"

Autotrader—A new study shines some interesting light on recall data from the past 30 years. The study, from iSeeCars.com, examined U.S. automotive recalls going back to 1985, and it reached some interesting conclusions.

Autoweek—Mark Webber, Timo Bernhard and Brendon Hartley dominated the Shanghai round of the World Endurance Championship to seal a second consecutive manufacturers' crown for Porsche on Sunday.
 
Motor1—Mark Webber says the fear of being involved in another major accident, like the one he suffered at Interlagos in 2014, played a part in his decision to retire from racing at the end of 2016.

Car and Driver—Kei Miura, famed for his Rocket Bunny body kits, draws much of his inspiration from the 1970s, filtered through the bōsōzoku aesthetic that was so prevalent while he was growing up. So it only makes sense that his take on a 997 Carrera would draw from the most brutal, outrageous 911 variant of them all—the 935, which dominated sports-car racing so thoroughly in the late ’70s and early ’80s that an example actually won Le Mans overall in 1979.
 
The Drive—Flying Lizard Motorsport is probably one of the reasons I became a deeply-entrenched Porsche fanatic, as their red and silver 997s served to dominate the American Le Mans Series in the late-aughts, and I loved watching Pat Long and Jörg Bergmeister scrapping at the front of the field week after week.

Motor1—People who drive either revision of the 991-generation 911 Turbo already have one of the most potent performance vehicles on the road, but if the coupe’s already ample power ever leaves them yearning for more then Techart’s GTstreet R should definitely help. The package not only offers several levels of power upgrades, but the wind-tunnel-refined active aero body kit should keep the aggressive looking car well planted.
 
Sportscar 365—The prospects of seeing Porsche return to a three-car operation for the 24 Hours of Le Mans amid Audi’s exit from prototype racing remains unlikely, according to LMP1 team principal Andres Seidl.
