PCA—I've stressed this before and I will say it again: It always pays to be nice. You never know where your next Porsche purchase may come from.

The Porsche find of this story was as unexpected as they come. I was at the local auto parts store buying a six-volt battery for a 356 when the guy at the counter asked me what the battery was for. When I told him it was for an old Porsche, he said I needed to talk to Greg. Who's Greg?

Chris Andropoulos shares his knowledge in "Understanding Mechanical Fuel Injection." PCA—The world-renowned 55th Rolex 24 at Daytona is scheduled for January 26-29, 2017 at Daytona International Speedway, Daytona Beach, Florida.  PCA welcomes all PCA members, Porsche owners, and their guests to the PCA Car Corral Hospitality Tent, located infield at "The Kink."
 
Parade Competition Rules: final changes and supplementary autocross regulation
PCA—With Porsche Parade 2017 in Spokane, Washington drawing closer, the Parade Competition Rules team has submitted final changes plus a supplementary autocross regulation. Find the two documents below.
 
MultiBriefs—Fifteen Porsches sped around Daytona International Speedway for the official preseason test just over a week ago. The "Roar Before the 24" is mandatory for all participants in the Rolex 24 at Daytona race over the Jan. 28-29 weekend.

Road & Track—If you're like us, you love a good episode of Jerry Seinfeld's web series, Comedians In Cars Getting Coffee. It's a show where Seinfeld invites his comedian friends to join him in a cool classic car and drive to get coffee somewhere. It's as entertaining as you'd think, and if you're a car person, it's double the fun.
 
Jalopnik—Taking risks in life can sometimes lead to great things. If you took those risks and they made you rich enough to buy a Porsche 911 R, congratulations. I’m just not sure the risk of drifting that 911 R on a snowy mountain road is worth it, though.

The Truth About Cars—Replacing the lead singer in an iconic rock band is a thankless task. Van Halen fans never fully embraced Sammy Hagar. Paul Roger’s recent stint as lead singer with Queen was okay, I guess, and Axl Rose is now screaming it out in front of AC/DC. All fantastic singers and more than worthy in their own right, but how to you replace David Lee Roth, Freddy Mercury and Brian Johnson?

Petrolicious—When I first moved to San Diego a few years ago, I saw this very black Porsche 356 regularly driving about. Finally, I met the owner at a local car meet. Alex Singer, a diehard gearhead with a preference for P-cars and generally great dude, is part owner of Cryo-Werks. Since covering his dry-ice blasting side business, I’ve gotten to know the man obsessed with keeping classics clean.

Jalopnik—Porsches with turbochargers used to be terrifying. So much so that older 911s were frequently derided—or praised, depending on how you look at it—as “widowmakers.” Now, they are the easiest way to go really fast, something that dawned on me as I drove a 2017 Porsche 911 Carrera S with two turbochargers down a twisting California backroad.

Motor1—February 8 will be the day when this lovely Porsche 959 Sport will hit the auction block at an event organized in Paris by RM Sotheby’s. Described as being in “exceptionally original condition,” the car has the exact same paint it had when it rolled off the production line back in the late 1980s.
 
Motor Trend—Volkswagen has agreed to pay $4.3 billion in criminal and civil penalties related to its diesel cheating. The U.S. government has also indicted six high-level VW employees for their roles in the conspiracy.
 
Autoblog—Volkswagen AG is advising top executives to avoid travel to the US over concerns they may be arrested in connection with the company's ongoing diesel-emissions scandal, Reuters reported Friday morning. "Several Volkswagen managers have been advised not to travel to the United States," an unnamed source told the wire service.
