PCA—After three successful years in Carmel-by-the-Sea, the popular West Coast Porsche show Werks Reunion Monterey will be held on August 18, 2017 at a new location, the Corral de Tierra Country Club next to Laguna Seca Raceway, during Monterey Car Week.

PCA—1971’s movie Le Mans was Steve McQueen’s love letter to racing. McQueen plays driver Michael Delaney, returning to the famed track after suffering an accident and the loss of a friend the year before. Largely improvised with a rudimentary script, Le Mans shows lots of random footage of the racing cars, the individuals, and the crowds at the race in 1970 and intercuts them with the barest minimum of storyline — and even less dialogue.

PCA—In this issue, Sean Cridland details one member’s intriguing 356 Outlaw in “Gesetzloser.” If you’ve been to the Hershey Swap Meet, you may have happened upon a certain 1969 912 that’s been part of the same family since day one, in Ted West’s “Gramma Elsie’s Car.” Read about the trials and tribulations of famed Porsche racer John Fitzpatrick in “Fitz,” by Michael Cotton. A PCA couple fell in love with the 928 and sailing, and now have three of Porsche’s front-engined, V8 GT cars, which you’ll learn about in “Great White,” by David Mathews. A recent show, Porsche: Decades of Disruption, aired on CNBC in February, and Ronald Ahrens takes us behind the scenes in “Decades of Disruption.” If you missed the original airing, click here to watch it online.

PCA—In late February, you may have caught the airing of a half-hour show on CNBC called “Porsche: Decades of Disruption.” It takes eight of some of Porsche most “disruptive” models and puts them on the track at the Porsche Experience Center in Los Angeles, along with some of our favorite personalities. If you missed it, you’re in luck, because it has been released on YouTube.
 
PCA—Treffen North America continues with Treffen Hill Country near Austin, Texas. The event will feature luxurious accommodations, fantastic drives, and exotic “foodie” delicacies in addition to a reception at Circuit of the Americas.

The Drive—Porsche factory driver Patrick Pilet is an angry young man tonight. He had his 12 hours of Sebring GTLM class victory snatched away from his easy grasp with a punctured tire only thirty minutes from the end of the half-day Floridian endurance race.

Road & Track—The Porsche 356, despite its rise to collector fame in recent years, remains a simple, easy-to-work-on machine. Its Volkswagen Beetle origins means access to the rear-mounted engine is extremely straightforward. In fact, it's so easy to get to the engine that it takes three mechanics less than nine minutes to separate it completely from the car.

Porsche via YouTube—In this week’s Porsche Top 5 epside, we’re uncovering the Porsche Cayenne Cabriolet concept car for the first time. Check out the video, if you’re curious to know more about this and other unique Porsche concept cars.
 
Motor1—Porsche produced just 918 units of its famed 918 between 2013 and 2015, each at a cost of around $847,000. Unfortunately for anyone interested in picking one up new, all examples have been accounted for – you’ll have to wait until at least 2025 when we could see a replacement for the hybrid hypercar.

Black Flag via Jalopnik—Sometimes I get asked what my favorite series to watch is, and after some hum-hawing around, my answer is usually the Continental Tire Sports Car Challenge. Why? Because it’s usually two-plus hours of flat-out ruthless racing, and this week’s race at Sebring is a perfect example of why.
 
Automobile—Unintentional fire is bad, especially when you’re talking about cars. Ferraris, Lamborghinis, and other exotica can go from million-dollar sculptures to hundred-dollar pieces of scrap in a matter of minutes with an oft-scheduled flame. Yet, when fire is coming from an exhaust and thrilling fans, the element is among one of the coolest sights to behold. Take for instance this Porsche 935 K3 Group 5 race car laying down laps at Italy’s infamous Imola circuit.

Petrolicious—There is someone next to me peering into a miniaturized version of an old Porsche workshop complete with realistically rendered dust, and just a moment ago I saw another person walk through a hotel breakfast room carrying a 356 steering wheel in one hand and a wad of yellowed PCA stickers in the other.

Car and Driver—Porsche has an exciting new drivetrain on its hands: the 680-hp twin-turbocharged V-8 hybrid setup from the impressive new Panamera Turbo S E-Hybrid. So it would be remiss to limit that gasoline-electric goodness to only one model, right?

Bloomberg—Porsche’s profit machine, already humming, just shifted up.
The Volkswagen AG brand delivered 238,000 of its sinuous vehicles last year and posted an operating profit of 3.9 billion euros ($4.1 billion), up 14 percent from 2015. Put those numbers together and it’s on pace to net about $17,250 a car 1  , up 9 percent.
 
Reuters—A large Porsche SE (PSHG_p.DE) stake owned by former Volkswagen (VOWG_p.DE) chairman Ferdinand Piëch may be bought by other members of the Porsche and Piëch clans before May 30, German weekly Bild am Sonntag said.

Photo by David Herr. Hurricane Region. “I’ve been the Hurricane Region Autocross Chairperson since 2001, and I took this after our June autocross event. My 1988 911 Carrera was rebuilt in 2006 by Jerry Woods and TRG as a track car for John Copeland. In my years owning the 911, I have enjoyed putting it back on the street as a daily driver and autocrossing it. My Carrera is a thrill to drive and I always look back when I walk away from it.”
