The Smoking Tire via YouTube—This Porsche Cayman GT4 has been massaged by the professionals at Sharkwerks of Northern California with a specific strategy in mind: take what Porsche does to turn a GT3 into a GT3 RS, and then apply that formula to the Cayman GT4.

​​​​​​​Rennlist—We're going to start this slideshow off with a picture from one of our very own forum members: 996pp. This member made the most of the space they had available after strapping a 6 foot Christmas tree to the roof and loaded the car with 101 Christmas tree lights, 500 plastic cups, 30 rolls of toilet paper, and 2 camping chairs among other bits. Our hats are off to him for using every ounce of space the Porsche had to get it all done in one trip!
 
The Truth About Cars—Earlier today, I published an article regarding the newest Porsche Club of America [raffle]. (Ed.: Be sure to click here to read the original article, "Trackday Diaries: Cash Or Prizes?") Shortly after it went up, I received an email from Vu Nguyen, PCA’s Executive Director. In this email, Mr. Nguyen managed to refrain from calling me an idiot or implying that I could not read contest rules.
 
MultiBriefs—If I've learned anything as the owner of more than two dozen cars in my lifetime, it's that every household needs a practical car. You can own all the garage charms you want, but at the end of the day at least one of them has to be a reliable mode of functional transportation.

Road & Track—Porsche has built many special 911s over the model's 53-year run, but few, if any, are as special as the one pictured above. Although, technically, it's not a 911. It's a 901–which was the 911's original name before Peugeot forced a change–and it's one of just two surviving pre-production examples out of 13 originally made. Oh, and it's the first 911 Cabriolet ever built.
 
The Drive—​​​​​​​You and I both know that air-cooled Porsches have always been cool. But only in the past few years have these magic machines—mainly 356s, 912s, and 911s—basked in the widespread adoration I think they deserve. They're charmingly anachronistic, require both delicate and heavy inputs, and will make you grin like an idiot when you drive one.
 
Car and Driver—It seems Porsche finally got fed up with people pronouncing its name incorrectly.

The German automaker took the time to upload a little explainer video just yesterday to its YouTube channel, the description for which reads, “Have you ever wondered about the right way to pronounce Porsche? Or do you know someone who pronounces it in a wrong way? Be sure to let them know about this video.”

Motor1—Carbon fiber can shed weight off a vehicle, but companies can also use the high-tech material to scuplt a whole new body. While many tuners simply offer a few pieces for replacing the front or rear bumper, the Russian firm TopCar has a set that swaps out practically every panel on the facelifted Porsche 911 Turbo and Turbo S for a carbon fiber part.

Road Show via CNET—When the 2016 Porsche 911 GT3 RS arrived at Gingerman Raceway, a small argument broke out. Actually, a melee of Roadshow editors elbowed each other out of the way to hop behind the wheel and take the 500-horsepower street-legal racecar out on the track.

Live Mint—German regulators are investigating whether Porsche illegally manipulated fuel economy data on its vehicles, potentially opening a new front in parent Volkswagen AG’s emissions-cheating scandal.

Green Car Reports—It's been 15 months since news broke that VW Group had used "defeat device" software in its diesel cars and SUVs that let them emit far more than permitted levels of nitrogen oxides in real-world use.

Even now, however, the Volkswagen diesel scandal continues to grow new tentacles as investigators uncover additional apparent instances of wrongdoing.

Autoweek—Tucked away in a nondescript industrial park in Las Vegas is a performance shop that specializes in replacing tired Porsche powerplants with new Chevy hearts. Founded by Scott Mann, Renegade Hybrids has been swapping Porsche engines with domestic power -- namely, the traditional Chevrolet small block -- since 1983. Following with the technological times, the shop has since moved onto the more power-dense LS-engine series.

IGN—It’s understood that, from around the turn of the century, the license to feature Porsches in video games has belonged exclusively to EA. Since 2000’s Need for Speed: Porsche Unleashed (released as Need for Speed: Porsche 2000 in PAL territories) EA’s driving franchises were just about the only place you’d find Porsches (exceptions, like Microsoft’s Forza and PGR series, featured Porsches as the result of sub-licence granted via EA).
