Hooniverse—You didn’t think we’d make it through the 2016 HCOTY nomination process without seeing a Porsche represented by your resident Porsche nerd, did you? While my initial idea (Leh Keen’s Safari 911) was stolen by my Cammed & Tubbed co-host, Mister Jason See-Oh-Double-Enn Connor, I came up with a second, even better, Porsche to nominate.
Hooniverse—The decision to
nominate one car from the varying amount of content out there on the interweb can never be an easy or simple one. Reflection is key, but what I’ve been thinking about over the last couple of weeks is that my nomination should be based solely on if it’s FUN.
The Drive—Long before Iron Man was an ink stain off Stan Lee’s portable typewriter, the first powered exoskeleton came to life in the workshop of a Russian mechanical engineer. Nicholas Yagn’s weird, hydraulic-powered gadget, which he patented in 1890, used “compressed-fluid accumulators” to augment the wearer’s ability to walk, run, or jump. Although the device, er, fell flat, you don't have
to be Dr. Faustus to know that humanity still yearns to be superhuman.
Roadshow by CNET—We've got gobs of horspower, tons of torque and plenty of burnt rubber. Three track monsters go at it, but only one can take the checkered flag.
The Drive—Following Leh Keen on YouTube has been one of the best online decisions I've ever made. The guy doesn't post as often as some content creators, but he's got some real gems when he does post.
Road & Track—During the turn of the century, the automotive world was flourishing. There were all sorts of great new performance cars on offer, ready to please enthusiasts. Now, 15 years later, we get to remember some of those fantastic cars, thanks to Best Motoring.
Road & Track—£399,995, otherwise known as half a million dollars. If you're clever about it, that'd buy you not one, but two 991 GT3 RSes. Or a perfect 993 and all the go fast parts plus labor that would turn it into an RS Club Sport slayer. But that's not what car collectors care about. In this game, it's all about originality
and rarity, and when it comes to naturally-aspirated 993s, a Speed Yellow RS Club Sport is the holy grail.

Petrolicious—I’ve had the pleasure of knowing Ben Clymer for the better part of 6 years now. When we first crossed paths he was just going down the rabbit hole of the watch world with his publication Hodinkee, which has since grown into what I can only consider to be the New York Times of the horological world. Alongside his passion for tiny engines you can wear on your wrist, Ben has always had a deeply passionate foot in the
automotive world. Needless to say when he called recently to say that Jeff Zwart’s 911 was now in his garage in Bedford New York, I was very excited.
Car and Driver—If you were to go to Porsche’s 911 R build site right now, you’d see there are only two colors from which to choose: White and GT Silver Metallic. There’s the option to add R-exclusive red or green stripes, but that’s about it. Pretty limited selection, right? That’s where Porsche’s Paint to Sample program comes in, which this owner took advantage of to make a Steve McQueen
tribute 911.
Engine Swap Depot—This 1973 Porsche 911 Targa was converted to run off electricity by Zelectric Motors in San Diego, California. The factory air-cooled flat-six was removed and placed in storage to make room for a new dual AC-34 electric motor.
The Drive—Collectively speaking, the staffers here at The Drive drove
around 500 cars in 2016. That's about 50 cars per person, give or take, and many hundreds of thousands of road miles driven. You want to know which ones we liked the best? Of course you do. (Ed.: Can you guess which two Porsches made the list?)
Road & Track—There's a picture going around on Instagram right now
that shows two dark grey Porsche Nine Elevens. The car on the left is an old air-cooled short-wheelbase model, and it's labeled "1964." The one on the right is the new 991-generation car, and it's labeled "2016." And it's huge. Compared to the original, this new Porsche 911 might as well be a Cayenne. Utterly horrifying. There's just one little problem: the photo, which we've embedded below, is a fake.
autoevolution—In keeping with the Christmas spirit, Porsche decided to light our imagination up with an alternate means of transport for the white-bearded guy we refer to as Santa Claus. Instead of a sleigh and reindeer, Porsche suggests that a Panamera could do the job. Read More

taken in front of my carriage house: a 1964 356 SC and a 1978 911 SC. Besides being a photo of two beautiful cars, it is interesting to note that 1964 was the first year Porsche introduced the "SC" model for the 356, and 1978 was the first year of an "SC" model for the 911 — making these Porsches the first year of the SC for both models. Porsche did not offer Silver Metallic as a color option for the 356 SC - but this 356 was special-ordered from the factory in Silver Metallic. Both cars are
silver on black.”
