1. Five Porsches to buy right now

PCA—Vintage Porsches have been arguably one of the most active sub-markets in the overall classic car market of the last five years. Certainly, there’s been some cooling-off of late, particularly among long-hood 911s, but even still, many of the nice ones remain above six-figures. It might be time to pay more attention to the overlooked and the up-and-comers in the Porsche world. Here are five to consider.

2. Porsche debuts 2018 911 GT2 RS at Goodwood [w/video]

PCA—The Goodwood Festival of Speed in the UK held a very special surprise for Porsche enthusiasts today: Porsche officially debuted the new 911 GT2 RS, a 700-horsepower track-oriented yet street-legal turbocharged 911.

3. Video: Generation Gap – 944 Turbo vs. Macan GTS

PCA—For the latest issue of Porsche Panorama, a bit of brainstorming planted a seed for an unlikely story: What would happen if we pit a 944 Turbo against a Macan GTS on track, with a professional race car driver at the wheel? We wondered whether 30 years of technological developments would allow an SUV weighing more than two tons to beat one of the best sports cars of the 1980s. Well, we have the answer, and the result may surprise you.

4. When the top goes down, the prices go down?

PCA—“When the top goes down, the price goes up” has been a staple of auctioneers’ banter since the beginning of collector car auctions. With a few notable exceptions like the 1963 split window Corvette coupe and the Mercedes-Benz 300SL Gullwing, it almost always held true, that the convertible was always more valuable than the coupe, even when—in the case of cars like the Jaguar E-type—the coupe was undeniably prettier. It’s a maxim, however, that’s likely to go away as Baby Boomers increasingly relinquish command of the vintage car hobby to Gen-Xers and Millennials.

5. Ten of the most beautiful Porsches ever

PCA—Form has generally followed function in the Porsche world. It’s not as though the cars haven’t been consistently beautiful over the years, but Porsches aren’t fashion accessories. Extroverted contrivance for the sake of style in the manner of, say, a Lamborghini Countach has never been part of Porsche’s competition-heavy DNA. Nevertheless, over the last 69 years, Porsche has produced its share of stunning and timeless designs.
