PCA—Porsches can be scary, as we’ve noted in a previous article, but what about the spooky noises that they can make? The ones that sound like impending doom and a whole lot of money. Here we’ll cover some of those noises that send a chill down your spine and might indicate that your car needs some TLC.

PCA—Peter Schutz, the Berlin-born, American-raised chief executive of Porsche A.G. from 1981 to 1987 credited with saving the foundational 911 model from extinction, died on October 29, 2017.

PCA—Mike Robbins, a longtime Porsche Club of America member who drove his Porsche 356 Speedster to 47 of the 56 Porsche Parades he attended, died Saturday evening, October 28.

PCA—Rounding out a handful of videos about Porsche motorsport and the 911 GT1 is a walk-around and cold start-up of the Rohr Motorsport GT1 by PCA Tech Expert Tony Callas. The video took place in spring 2016 at a Pacific Northwest Region event.
 
PCA—A popular PCA member benefit is The Mart, the club’s classifieds section online and in each issue of Porsche Panorama. Mart Fresh is a bi-weekly column in which PCA media staff pick what they think are the "freshest" Porsches currently available, and then attempt to explain their reasoning. Up this week are a 2011 911 Carrera, a 2016 911 Carrera GTS, and a 1989 944 S2.

PCA—​​​​​​​The purpose of the contest is to design a logo for the PCA NATIONAL AUTOCROSS program. The logo will be used online, in print, on merchandise, including the need to resize easily and to look good in black and white as well as color. The final version of the logo will need to be suitable for high quality printing.

Car and Driver—The U.S. Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) and the California Air Resources Board (CARB) have given their nod of approval to a fix for TDI diesel versions of some Audi, Porsche, and Volkswagen SUVs from the 2013 through 2016 model years.

Will Roegge via YouTube—Rally driver and Pikes Peak Hill Climb champion Jeff Zwart, returns to Big Sky Ranch to drive his 1990 Porsche Carrera 4 Rally car - 25 years after it's first test there.

Jeff piloted his Carrera 4 Rally to 7 overall victories in the US Pro Rally Championship between 1993-1994 and won the open class championship at the Pikes Peak International Hillclimb.

MultiBriefs—Every repair is preplanned. This involves getting all the parts necessary, studying the workshop manual and taking inventory of the tools on hand to do it. But there are times when a job requires a tool I don't have, and that's when the adventure begins. There are typically three choices when buying tools. You can buy them cheap, made in a land far away; go broke buying the best; or settle on straddling the two extremes with mediocre goods. However, there is a fourth way.
 
Motor Trend—The Porsche 911 gets the glory. But the Porsche Cayenne makes the money. It’s taken Porsche 54 years to build 1 million 911s but just 15 years to build three-quarters that many Cayennes. Porsche engineers love nothing more than creating better, faster 911s. But they know the SUVs pay the bills, so they make sure their SUVs look and feel as much like Porsches as any tall, heavy, all-wheel-drive wagon can possibly feel.

PCA—​​​​​​​The Executive Council has appointed Ken Hold, Bluegrass Region; Maggie Goodman-Garnett, Kansas City Region; and Ron Gordon, Chesapeake Region as members of the 2017-2019 Nominating Committee. The committee is carrying out its responsibilities in accordance with the Manual of National Policy and Procedures (MNPP) and PCA National Bylaws. Its goal is to consider, identify, and select the best possible slate of candidates to fill the Executive Council officer roles for the 2019-2020 term. As part of this process, the committee actively seeks feedback from PCA’s Regions on those talented individuals who have the enthusiasm, dedication, and leadership to serve on the Executive Council. The timing to get suggestions to any member of the committee is no later than December 15, 2017.

Jalopnik—The Porsche Cayenne is my favorite automotive troll. Porsche fans were horrified at the idea of a Porsche SUV only to discover that the Cayenne is ridiculously capable off-road, on-road, on-track, and even when towing. The all-new 2019 Porsche Cayenne is faster and more powerful than ever, and if you’re still mad about the idea of a Porsche truck, take this advice: drive one.
 
Motor1—It’s a 38-mile drive from my hotel on the north shore of Crete to the small airport to the east, in Sitia. There’s no freeway route – just a long stretch of winding roads, connecting the dots between tiny villages nestled in the Cretan hills. The 2019 Cayenne’s navigation system says it’ll take an hour and 15 minutes to complete the journey, but the reality is, I don’t have that kind of time.

The Drive—The Porsche LMP1/98 is a truly interesting car. At the time Porsche was putting their factory-backed eggs in the GT1 class basket with a 911-based homologation special. There was another class of car for prototypes that raced head-to-head with the GT1 cars, and Tom Walkinshaw Racing was running a privateer Porsche effort with some under-the-table factory backing.

Motor1—The 911 R and the 918 Spyder are two of the rarest sports cars to come from Porsche in recent history. Just 991 examples of the 911 R were offered worldwide, while a scarce 918 examples of the 918 were built – and both are enitrely sold out. So, seeing these two super coupes on the track at the same time feels like Christmas in October.

Motor1—Porsche hasn’t had a front-engined grand-touring coupe since the demise of the 928 in 1995. There’s not a high likelihood of one joining the lineup again anytime soon, but Automedia comes to the rescue by rendering a modern revival as the Panamera-based 929.

Motor1—Gemballa is known for being a bit flamboyant from time-to-time on its tuned Porsche creations. Some might feel the wings and bulging bodywork are just a bit too much, even if it comes with an infusion of crazy horsepower. If you fall into this category, we have good news – the latest package from Gemballa nixes the exterior bits and goes straight for the jugular by turning the already potent 911 Turbo and Turbo S into 828-horsepower monsters.

Stanceworks—There are some that suggest that Porsche's 924 isn't worthy of the crest. Luckily for them, this 924 GTR isn't sporting one. On the other hand, this GTR suggests they couldn't be more wrong. As Porsche's counterpart to the 908 for the 1980 24 Hours of Le Mans, the GTR houses a 375-horsepower inline-four.

The Drive—The modern luxury car isn't exactly easy to steal, especially when it is on a dealership lot filled with cameras. However, that didn't stop thieves from taking three Porsches off the lot of Porsche of Naples in Naples, Florida.
 
Motor Trend—When we lined up this year’s Best Driver’s Car contenders for the World’s Greatest Drag Race 7, we also brought out a Tesla Model S P100D. But despite its ludicrous straight-line acceleration, the Model S couldn’t actually compete for Best Driver’s Car since it couldn’t complete a flat-out lap of Laguna Seca.
 
Stanceworks—As the last of the air cooled 911s, the 993 chassis holds a special place in a lot of hearts. From an engineering standpoint, it represents the pinnacle of what an air cooled Porsche should be, from the engine to the suspension, and everything that works in between.
 
Jalopnik—Meadow Walker, the daughter of Fast & Furious franchise star Paul Walker, has settled the lawsuit against Porsche concerning her father’s death in 2013, according to The Blast.

PCA—The editors of Panorama are working on some stories and they need your help: We’d love to tell the story of the long-time connection between pilots and Porsches. From the service men and women who discovered Porsches while based in West Germany in the 1950s to the present. If you’re an Air Force pilot or a Naval Aviator, or if there’s one in your family, we’d love to make it part of this story. Photos are key, we’d love some shots of the Porsche and its pilot owner taken with the planes that he or she flew (or flies).

We’re also looking for a really special Cayenne. One that’s been a family member for a long time, a Cayenne that’s been everywhere and done everything. Preferably one with crazy high miles.
