PCA—The first major auctions of the new year just concluded in and around Scottsdale, Arizona. As usual, Porsches made up a fairly significant portion of the offerings, and the results revealed a stable, if unspectacular, market at the beginning of 2018.

PCA—Save the date for one of the top events of 2018! Porsche Parade 2018: Lake of the Ozarks, will take place July 8-14, 2018, at the Tan-Tar-A Resort in Osage Beach, Missouri.

Phase 1 Housing Registration opens Jan. 29, 2018 at 12 PM EST. This is separate from Phase 2 Event Registration, which will open at a later date.

 PCA—A popular PCA member benefit is The Mart, the club’s classifieds section online and in each issue of Porsche Panorama. Mart Fresh is a bi-weekly column in which PCA media staff pick what they think are the "freshest" Porsches currently available, and then attempt to explain their reasoning. Up this week are a 1988 924S, 1983 944, and 2016 Cayman GTS.

PCA—The world-renowned 56th Rolex 24 at Daytona is scheduled for January 25-28, 2018 at Daytona International Speedway, Daytona Beach, Florida.  PCA welcomes all PCA members, Porsche owners, and their guests to the PCA Car Corral Hospitality Tent, located trackside infield at "The Kink" (Turn 5).
 
PCA—A special and whimsical new exhibit dedicated to children and their longstanding fascination with fast cars has opened up at The Petersen Museum in Los Angeles, California.

Pirelli gives away four sets of tires to randomly selected HPDE instructors
PCA—The PCA High Performance Driver Education (HPDE) program could not exist without the dedicated volunteer instructors who safely and expertly guide drivers on tracks throughout the country. As a gesture of appreciation to all of those who make this program happen, Pirelli has generously provided sets of street tires for us to give out. We have randomly selected four instructor names for those tires, and the winners are:
  • Lou Nicotra – Northern New Jersey Region
  • Roger Green – Las Vegas Region
  • David Salama – Carolinas Region
  • Jim Rybak – Mid Ohio Region
Please join Pirelli and the PCA National Staff in congratulating the winners, and be on the lookout for future contest announcements!

The Smoking Tire via YouTube—This Porsche 912 is a spectacular example that is not only fast, spotless, and sorted, but also the owner Kevin Lynch's daily driver in Los Angeles. Underneath the bonnet lies a Benton Performance-built 1.7L four-cylinder engine with forged internals, hot cams, and twin spark, so rather than the standard 92-horsepower, this 912 makes upwards of 130 horsepower.
 
MultiBriefs—By the sheer numbers, electric vehicles (EVs) are still a mere blip on the radar of the larger American automotive consciousness. According to sales figures from Fleetcarma after the first half of 2017, EVs made up 1.07 percent of all automotive sales in the U.S.

Oversteer by Autotrader—Well gang, it's December in Vermont, which means it's cold and leafless, and snow has begun to cling to the ground. PCA—The editors of Panorama are working on some stories and they need your help: We’d love to tell the story of the long-time connection between pilots and Porsches. From the service men and women who discovered Porsches while based in West Germany in the 1950s to the present. If you’re an Air Force pilot or a Naval Aviator, or if there’s one in your family, we’d love to make it part of this story. Photos are key, we’d love some shots of the Porsche and its pilot owner taken with the planes that he or she flew (or flies).

We’re also looking for a really special Cayenne. One that’s been a family member for a long time, a Cayenne that’s been everywhere and done everything. Preferably one with crazy high miles. If you think you might be the owner of that Cayenne and have some great stories to tell, let us know! If so, please contact us below.
