PCA—History has a funny way of presenting itself in a new light. For decades Porsche has yanked the heartstrings of devout petrol worshipers with every suck,
squeeze, bang, and blow of their iconic flat engines. Their newest and largest Porsche exhibit to hit the West Coast of America was exactly what we hoped for and everything we’ve ever dreamed about. | | PCA—The addition of PCA’s Werks Reunion to the Amelia Island Concours landscape sealed Northeast Florida one of the world’s premier Porsche and classic car destinations.
The auction companies know that some of the biggest Porsche fanatics on the planet will be in the area the first full week of March, and they’ve responded with some of the most exciting Porsche consignments that we’ve seen at auction in some time. Here’s a brief rundown on what we know so far: |
| | PCA—We have all dreamed of the story I am about to tell. It is about a $75 Carrera found at a junkyard. This story is not fiction, but the real deal. Louis Rio saw a pretty ragged 1957 Porsche 356 Carrera GS sitting in front of a junkyard, and the owner was happy to see it go. |

PCA—Tech Tactics East
registration for Sunday is open. Saturday has sold out. The event takes place February 17 and 18. Rob Ida, the man behind the "Less is More: Idatude 930" Panorama article and video will be presenting.
Porsche Ultimate—For the first time in the U.S., Porsche Ultimate is proud to offer access to an exclusive lineup of extraordinary sports cars for luxury rental with white-glove service and unique experiences available only in South Florida for a limited time. |
| | Road & Track—The GT2 RS IS WITHOUT A DOUBT the fastest, most mind-bending production 911 ever built. Yet as obscenely capable as it may be, in the rarified air atop the 911 food chain, the latest RS model still lives in the shadow of another, more extreme 911—the RSR. |
NY Daily News—Just about everyone still knows the name James Dean. That’s no exaggeration either: from millennials to septuagenarians, the tragically departed Hollywood heartthrob is a household name even today, like Marilyn Monroe, or more recently Paul Walker.

PCA—Porsche Parade 2018 Phase 1 Registration is
open! Have you reserved your housing? Ample options are still available. Phase 2 Event Registration will open April 2.
Porsche Parade, PCA's annual weeklong event, takes place in a new location each year. For 2018, we're heading to the midwest — the summer resort town of Osage Beach on the Lake of the Ozarks. In addition to traditional Parade activities such as concours,
autocross, time-speed-distance and gimmick rallies, the location provides family friendly fun with watersports, boating, golf, an indoor waterpark, and more.
Road & Track—Squealing brakes are as annoying when riding a city bus as they are when driving a sports car. But Porsche’s engineers want you to know that you shouldn’t worry, even if it is grating.
Photo courtesy Petrolicious | | Petrolicious—When Porsche set out to win Le Mans for
the new FIA rulebook on the cusp of the 1970s, they developed the dominant 917 to do it. It wasn’t always so successful though, and it had its share of growing pains in its first season of competition in 1969. |
Porsche via YouTube—With the
Porsche 964 being the last of his late father’s possessions, Naja was determined to restore a family legacy to its original state of glory. Watch as Naja tells his touching story of how his father’s passion led him to realize his dream.
| | MultiBriefs—Dan Gurney died last month. I never met him. What I knew of him was from interviews, articles in various publications and images on TV.
I subscribed to Autoweek when it was a weekly automotive newspaper. I remember reading about Ford’s great win
with Gurney and A.J. Foyt at Le Mans in the GT40 in 1967. Even though I never met Dan Gurney, I felt I knew him.

Road & Track—There are no brief conversations with Kevin Jeannette. “I’ll talk until you tell me to shut up,” says the owner of Gunnar Racing, a fantastical race-and-restoration shop in south Florida. |
Inside EVs—The Gen2 Formula E car, which will be used
from the 2018/2019 season onwards, is a dramatic departure from the first-generation machine that has been used since 2014.
In this video from Motorsport.tv’s The Flying Lap, Craig Scarborough gives his first impressions of the new Gen2 Formula E car, designed by Spark, built by Dallara and scheduled to make its debut in 2018.

| | Car and Driver—Porsche’s third-generation Cayenne is here, and it’s lighter, quicker, and more powerful than before—and with even more tech baked in. We recently had the opportunity to sit with Porsche’s engineers in Germany and run through the 2019 Cayenne’s advancements, and these are the 10
coolest. |
Road &
Track—Typically, high powered flat-sixes are heard on race tracks. But there is something refreshing about hearing that distinctive Porsche sound howling through the woods.
Photo by Robb Pritchard / courtesy Petrolicious | | Petrolicious—Porsches are
better known for they’ve achieved in circuit racing than on rally stages, but apart from Walter Röhrl’s 1981 San Remo heroics and some ERC wins with the Group B SC/RS, their biggest assault on the WRC were a few high-profile attempts at the Safari Rally in the 1970s. |
Stanceworks—There's a group of guys over in Germany focused on the artistry of the air-cooled
automobile, and with each photoset that they toss into my inbox, I'm more and more impressed by their vision and taste. As evidenced by a number of Porsche builds that have graced the pages here on StanceWorks (911T + 912), the gents at Rooshers have a knack for air-cooled automobiles. |
Motor1—In the
last few days, Porsche has been more than eager to talk about its EV agenda heralded by the Mission E. Slated to arrive at some point in 2019, the all-electric sedan is only a part of the company’s eco-friendly future portfolio, which besides full EVs, will also include an assortment of plug-in hybrid models.
| | Porsche Newsroom—“You cannot discover new lands without consenting to lose sight of the shore for a very long time,” said André Gide, French writer and 1947 winner of the Nobel Prize in Literature. Although Gide could not have known it, his quote beautifully captures the mood at Porsche in the early 1970s. What was going on in Zuffenhausen? |

Car and
Driver—To celebrate the millionth 911 produced, Porsche built a one-off Carrera S inspired by the first 911 owned by Ferry Porsche. Mr. Porsche himself took delivery of the third 911 off the line in late 1964; 53 years later, the millionth example was presented to us for a drive.
Oversteer by Autotrader—I was recently walking down the street here in Philadelphia and I stumbled across a gorgeous Porsche 944 Cabriolet that was far too nice to be street-parked here in Philadelphia. But it was indeed street-parked, and it was indeed gorgeous -- or, at least, as gorgeous as a 944 Cabriolet can be, as its design is rather polarizing. |
| | Motor1—Porsche has quite a bit to say about its current production expansion, which includes making room for the forthcoming Mission E. Yesterday the company published an interview with Albrecht Reimold, who is part of Porsche’s executive board for production. |
Porsche Newsroom—With the podium, Marc Lieb (Germany), Timothy Pappas (USA), Jeroen Bleekemolen (Netherlands) and Luca Stolz (Germany) crowned the strong performance of the four 911 GT3 R at the opening round of the Intercontinental GT Challenge, at which all finished in the top six after a gripping race against tough
competition. Read
