 PCA—Too often drivers who enjoy taking  their Porsche to the track put an outsize focus on
vehicle preparation and not enough into protecting themselves with the safety equipment they choose to wear. We brought TraqGear Founder Roger Burdette to PCA's garage to explain how different clothing materials offer various levels of fire protection.

PCA—A popular PCA member benefit is The Mart, the club’s classifieds section online and in each issue of Porsche Panorama. Mart Fresh is a bi-weekly column in which PCA media staff pick what they think are the "freshest" Porsches currently available, and then attempt to explain their reasoning. Car and Driver—In the early 1960s, Porsche was not yet two decades old, and the 911 was just another new model. Its import to the company wouldn’t truly become clear until the model was saved from outright replacement by the 928 nearly 20 years into its existence. The factory owns early 911s; what it didn’t have was an example of a 901.

Stanceworks—Each year, the team at Luftgekühlt seems to outdo themselves. What once started as a small gathering of friends around a handful of air-cooled Porsches has quickly become one of the events of the year, growing in size and "cool-factor" at an exponential rate. Petrolicious—If you watch any type of racing—be it mechanically propelled or powered by pedals—you’ll understand the importance of the slipstream. From Formula 1 to the Tour De France, racers have been taking advantage of using competitors’ aerodynamic profile to ease their progress through the air, resulting in less drag and more speed.

Car and Driver—As of this writing, we’ve strapped our test gear to 18 different 991.2-generation Porsche 911 models. The quickest is the mighty Turbo S coupe, which hit 60 mph from rest in a brain-blending 2.6 seconds, with the gap to the slowest 991.2, the stick-shift base Carrera, being just 1.4 seconds. Each variation feels fully capable of shredding the very fabric of space-time, including the subject here, a GTS coupe with a manual transmission, which hit the benchmark speed in a ripping 3.4 seconds.

Stanceworks—I’ve driven my 1972 911 over 44k miles in the last 4-5 years. I couldn’t believe it once we’d figured it out. Some friends and I had been sitting over pizza, wondering how much it costs every time you redline the engine. 5 cents? 10?  We never really nailed down a figure, but we did find an old odometer photo back from when I rebuilt the motor.

Road & Track—Swapping out an engine is a big job for any mechanic, but this video from Tuthill Porsche doing a drivetrain replacement in less than 12 minutes makes it look incredibly quick and easy.

Jalopnik—As a young automotive enthusiast, one of the first cars that I fell head over heels for was Alois Ruf’s wild and powerful turbocharged CTR “Yellowbird”. By virtue of playing with the Ruf in Gran Turismo 2, and later by watching Faszination Nurburgring on a VHS passed to me at an autocross, it didn’t take much more for Ruf to become my favorite auto ‘manufacturer’. My dog’s name is Alois.

PCA—The editors of Panorama are working on some stories and they need your help: We’d love to tell the story of the long-time connection between pilots and Porsches. From the service men and women who discovered Porsches while based in West Germany in the 1950s to the present. If you’re an Air Force pilot or a Naval Aviator, or if there’s one in your family, we’d love to make it part of this story. Photos are key, we’d love some shots of the Porsche and its pilot owner taken with the planes that he or she flew (or flies).

We’re also looking for a really special Cayenne. One that’s been a family member for a long time, a Cayenne that’s been everywhere and done everything. Preferably one with crazy high miles. Photo by Chad Dybowski. Palmetto Region. "This photo was taken the day before Hurricane Matthew ripped through Charleston, South Carolina in fall 2016. Charleston was like a ghost town. I ripped through the streets in my 911 Carrera, shifting through the gears of its G50 transmission, and suddenly noticed the photo opportunity in front of one of city's staple restaurants."
