| | PCA—Porsche AG was faced with a tough decision around its 70th anniversary. It could have easily let the milestone go by with just token recognition. Instead, it launched a largely social media-driven worldwide campaign entitled “Sportscar Together Day” and hosted drives and events June 8-10 in Germany. |

PCA—Porsche announced a new 911 Speedster concept and the Taycan, the latter of which was known as the Mission E concept
electric sedan. The Speedster, with a lightweight design and a naturally aspirated engine, looks back to Porsche’s past, while the Taycan points to the company’s future. | | PCA—Drive, dine, and explore in Canada's Banff National Park during the upcoming Treffen North America from Sept. 12-15, 2018. Registration opens tomorrow, June 13, at 3 PM
EDT. Pricing and details about driving tours and Navigator's Day Off excursions can be found at Treffen.PCA.org. |
| | PCA—Most people agree on what the undeniably great Porsches are—they gather crowds at Werks Reunion and enthusiastic bidders at fancy auctions. It’s the merits of the hidden gems of the Porsche world that are the bones of contention among enthusiasts. They’re often cars that were overshadowed by what came next or were underappreciated back in the day. Here are five Porsches that are much
better cars than most people realize: |
PCA—Every
few years, Porsche Panorama conducts a survey of its readership to ensure that we produce the Porsche content you want to read about. Make the magazine yours by filling out the survey in its entirety. It should only take about five to ten minutes. Only current members and Test Drive participants logged in to the PCA website are allowed access to the survey.

PCA—A popular PCA member benefit is The Mart, the club’s classifieds section online and in each issue of Porsche Panorama. Mart Fresh is a bi-weekly column in which PCA media staff pick what they think are the "freshest" Porsches currently available, and then attempt to explain their reasoning. Up this week are a 1990 911 Carrera 4 Cabriolet, a 1973 914 2.0, and a 1965 356.
| | PCA Club Racing—Founded in the 1990s, Porsche Club of America’s (PCA) Club Racing program entertains the world’s largest, single-marque, auto-enthusiast network in the world. Practically three decades of competition etched into history, many have to look back and appreciate how far the sport has come. |
Motor
Trend—On this episode of Head 2 Head presented by Tire Rack, hosts Jethro Bovingdon and Jonny Lieberman take a look at two California-built custom Porsche 911s: the Gunther Werks 400R and the SharkWerks GT3 4.1. The Gunther is the dancer of the two, a prima ballerina that teaches a master’s course on the very notion of steering feel. Sharkie, on the other hand, is a sledgehammer, taking a naturally aspirated Porsche to a level of violence and fury never seen
before. | | |
| | Car and Driver—Most concept cars are improbable concoctions with impossibly sexy profiles, impractical packaging, and wildly optimistic performance claims. Porsche doesn’t usually tread in this tall-tale realm, and with its production-bound Mission E project, it has become apparent that the claims it makes for the Mission E concept hew closely to what Porsche says will be delivered less than
a year and a half from now: zero to 62 mph in 3.5 seconds, 600 horsepower, a driving range of 310 miles, and a game-changing charging capability to regain about 250 miles of range in 15 minutes. |

Jalopnik—Everybody loves a 911, but—and trust me on this—the Porsche Cayman GT4 is the best road car the company has ever delivered. The mid-engine layout gives it incredible balance, the six-speed manual makes it highly engaging. So when you add $20,000 in upgrades to that brilliant base, you’re pretty much into a superhero on wheels.
| | Carfection via YouTube—Henry Catchpole demonstrates why the manual is something to be treasured in a 991.2 Porsche 911 GT3. |
Motor1—Germany's Sport Auto has released the in-car video of its Porsche 911 GT2 RS test at the Nürburgring. The clip provides another look at the vehicle's impressive performance. As an even more interesting comparison, it shows the difference between the driving skill of a very talented racing driver and Porsche test driver Lars Kern. Watch Video
| | PCA—Described as a museum springing to life, the Rolex Monterey Motorsports Reunion is the largest event held during the famed Monterey Classic Car Week, and is the only event where vintage race cars are doing what they were originally intended to do…race. And what better way to enjoy this step back
into history than to watch the races from the PCA Car Corral and Hospitality Tent? The Car Corral and Hospitality Tent are open to PCA members and Porsche owners. This year our Corral and Tent are located inside Turn 5. For those of you that attended the Porscheplatz at Laguna Seca, you know this is probably one of the primo-viewing areas on the track.

Car and
Driver—For Porsche, going electric presents some challenges. The brand has insisted that its upcoming electric sedan, signaled by the Mission E and Mission E Cross Turismo concepts, will be a high-performance car and a true Porsche. But for a brand that built its reputation in part on glorious-sounding engines, it can’t shortchange owners on the sensory part of the driving experience.

| | Petrolicious—This is the story of following a trail of gas into the a tractor barn. It is a story of a family legacy of mechanical inclination and a desire to learn from and build upon classic machines. A story of a father and son taking seven long years to transform a 356 shell and a box of parts into a car that reflects their histories and their personalities. The Auratium Green 356 A Type
2 is the culmination of more than just the hundreds of hours of patient toiling that went into its resurrection, for it represents the passing down of talents and a way of living and approaching material objects with a calculated but still very human touch. It is one thing to understand how it all works, another to to fall in love with the act of making it happen. |
Road & Track—Yesterday's announcement that production-based hypercars could race at Le Mans in 2020 has us thinking about the last time a road car won the famous 24-hour race. It was 20 years ago, and the car was a Porsche 911 GT1 driven by Allan McNish (in his first of three Le Mans wins), Laurent Aïello, and Stéphane Ortelli.

| | Autoblog—There are a ton of reasons to take interest in the Porsche Panamera Turbo S E-Hybrid Sport Turismo: its mouthful of a nameplate, stunning performance, paramount luxury, the fact that it's a wagon and a PHEV. We covered the basics — and then some — in our First Drive review late last year. It's already clear this car is a freakin' rocket, going from 0 to 60 mph in a little over 3
seconds. Now, with a second chance to drive the car, I wanted to see what it was like to live with. |
Roadshow by CNET—I've been more than a little eager get behind the wheel of Porsche's all-electric Taycan (neé Mission E) since I had my first sight of the thing. Immediately after it rolled out at the 2015 Frankfurt Motor Show I remember standing next to this low, sculpted vision for the future and being totally, utterly smitten. Porsche said they'd build it, and so I started counting the days to when I might get a go.
| | Road & Track—The new Porsche 911 GT3 RS is an amazingly capable rear-drive monster, and the most extreme version of the 911 money can buy. . . if you want to stay away from turbochargers, but still need a license plate. It's quick a straight line, crazy fast around a race track, and it's got looks that'll ensure no one will confuse it with your dentist's 911. |

Road & Track—If you're a small family-run car company like 911-wizard RUF, certain hard decisions have to be made to keep your R&D budget in balance. For Alois Ruf, the good news is that blasting down the Autobahn at well over 220 mph in the name of science is a low-cost, yet more efficient alternative to
spending weeks at a wind tunnel.
The Drive—Porsche announced that it will sponsor the ADAC SimRacing Expo, a massive gaming convention located right next to the Nürburgring. The 2018 rendition of the SimRacing Expo will be the second time that Porsche partners with ADAC's virtual racing division, this time as the venue's title sponsor. |

Region. "I was shuffling my Guards Red group of '80s Porsches as the sun was setting and turned around to this spectacular view. My first thought: It's 1986, do you know where your cars are? My second: Just add parachute pants. Pictured are: 1983 928S, 1985 944, and a 1986 911 Turbo. All cars are 100%." Got a stunning shot you want to share? Submit your pictures to potw@pca.org.
