| | PCA—We've covered a lot of ground regarding what an intermediate shaft and IMS bearing are, how to extend the life of your original IMS bearing, and the bearing's four stages of failure. In the fourth and final video of this series, we explain the different types of IMS bearing retrofit kits available on the aftermarket. |

PCA—It won’t come as a surprise to many that Porsche is adding a plug-in hybrid powertrain to the previously announced, re-designed 2019 Cayenne,
which is expected in dealerships at the end of this summer. The typically Porsche-like execution of the new plug-in isn’t terribly surprising either. Like the new model itself, the Cayenne E-Hybrid represents an evolution, with incremental yet still significant improvements over the outgoing model. | | PCA—Virtually everyone is familiar with the movie “Risky Business” for the often-quoted 928/U-boat commander bit and the otherwise forgettable Jeff Bridges film
“Against All Odds” for the spectacular 911 Carrera cab/Ferrari 308 street race scene. Most of us can also remember the numerous fake Speedsters that seemed to litter every hit movie from the 1980s. But here are five great 911 screen appearances that you may have forgotten (or never seen). |
PCA—Minnesota native Dan Martinson convinced two buddies to sign up for Skip Barber Racing School at Laguna Seca, and the rest is history! After doing an actual event race at Autobahn Country Club in Joliet, Illinois, Martinson knew he was hooked.
| | Rennfilms via YouTube—A documentary film following legendary Porsche 356 builder Rod Emory and his team as they defy the odds to restore the most significant Porsche in history, it's first Le Mans class winning car from 1951. |

MultiBriefs—Earlier this year, I reported my impressions of the first six months with my new 718 Cayman — mostly complimentary as I struggle finding fault with any of the three Porsches I’ve owned. But if I’m entirely honest, I’ve spent the last several months making excuses for what I feel is a lack of proper tonality for a car of this caliber.
| | Autoblog—Mark Webber is sitting across from me in the driver's seat of a new Porsche 911 GT3 RS, trademark grin wide on his semi-bearded face. "Good, right?" |

| | Autoblog—A line of Porsche 911 GT3 RS cars, spanning several generations, splays out along the narrow two-lane road. The Isle of Man is damp, rain sputters against the grassy hills, and as we climb Snaefell mountain road, each car in succession is obliterated by fog. Suddenly, I'm alone in the oldest and most precious of the lot, an original 2.7 RS, feeling my way up the mountain
at a snail's pace, peering ahead at the massive RS wings swimming in and out of the mist. There'd be breaks in the weather in the day ahead, to rip the mountain air in short, delicious bursts, but first I had to get out of this fog without punting any sheep, or worse. |
| | Road & Track—Just past Turn 13 of Circuito Ascari, the walkie-talkie crackles to life. “Now I am flat out,” says Porsche driving instructor Matthias Hofsuemmer. His voice echoes over the radio clipped to the map pocket of the Porsche 718 Cayman GTS I’m driving. |
Jalopnik—Singer Vehicle Design, the California company that restores and “reimagines” older Porsche 911s to where they’re some of the most desirable vehicles ever cooled by air, just released images of its latest work. And the “Mulholland” car is the wildest one yet. | | Photo courtesy Singer Vehicle Design via Jalopnik |
| | Road & Track—Rolling through quaint seaside villages, the new GT3 RS looks ridiculous. Its Lizard Green paint almost seems to glow as fog from the Irish Sea rolls in, and its huge carbon-fiber wing with "PORSCHE" emblazoned on top draws puzzled looks from the pensioners otherwise enjoying a cold Friday morning. |

| | The Drive—Rumors have been circulating that Porsche will build a new iteration of the Cayman GT4 for 2019, based of course on new 718 Cayman. While we eagerly await news from Stuttgart, Germany about the second generation of the Cayman's track-happy sibling, we can also look forward to the bigger, badder brother, the Cayman GT4 Clubsport, which has recently been spotted testing at
Monza. |
Road & Track—It's weird to think of the once ultra-futuristic Porsche 959 as a used car, but at 30 years old, it's starting to suffer from the wear and tear you expect from something this age. This isn't a problem for Bruce Canepa, the California racer and exotic-car dealer who's who's a true expert on the 959. He's turned the 959's age into an opportunity.
| | Jalopnik—For those who say a Porsche 911 Carrera S, GTS, Turbo or Turbo S are simply not enough, there are the GT2 and GT3 models. They’re insane, overpowered, meant for the race track and come with the six-figure price tags to match. And the 2019 Porsche 911 GT3 RS, somehow, is on a whole other level. |
Road & Track—In August 2o17, Volkswagen's board of directors decided that VW should try to beat Rhys Millen's 2016 electric Pikes Peak record, mostly to promote their new EV sub brand in the U.S. Just eight months later, we are looking at a hillclimb special the likes of which the world has never seen before.
| | Jalopnik—Deep down, I guess I knew the day would come when we’d see a 996 Porsche 911 Safari. At first I was afraid, but now I see the light. And not just because this thing has six on its roof rack. This is a galaxy brain Porsche and if you don’t believe that you clearly haven’t seen the seats.Read More |
The Truth About Cars—If you want a good example of evolution, you don’t need to venture all the way to the Galapagos Islands. Simply look at the lineage of the Porsche 911 for confirmation of how a species evolves and adapts over time. |
| | Motor1—There’s certainly no shortage of spy videos with Porsche’s forthcoming race cars as after seeing the updated 911 GT3 R, a mysterious GT2 RS-based prototype, and the revised 718 Cayman GT4 Clubsport, time has come to have a look at the 911 RSR. Originally unveiled at the Los Angeles Auto Show in November 2016, it looks like the mid-engined Nine Eleven is already gearing up
for an update. |
Jalopnik—The folks at Race Service (now split off from Donut Media), worked tirelessly at Luftgekühlt 5 to capture all of the footage for this quick video, and have likely spent all of the week between then and now tagging, cutting, and editing footage in order to get this video out.

The Drive—If there's one thing Porsche enthusiasts and gamers have in common, it's that they're both familiar with high-end Porsche tuner RUF. This Pffafenhausen, German-based manufacturer takes unmarked Porsche chassis and turns them into high-horsepower masterpieces, and the company's creations have represented the flat-six in most car-centered videogames for years while Electronic Arts had
Porsche's licensing in its clutches.
| | Motor1—A spy video from the Monza race track catches Porsche developing a mysterious 911 race car. It appears to blend elements from the road-going GT2 RS and GT3 RS but with a massive wing and other body tweaks. The engine sounds turbocharged, too, whereas existing 911 competition vehicles are naturally aspirated.Watch Video |
The Drive—Porsche announced this week that it has plans to build a new Porsche Experience Center roughly 60 miles from its primary manufacturing facility in Zuffenhausen, Germany, at the legendary Hockenheimring race track.
Jalopnik—The Silicon Valley gazillionaire of concern today is Jan Koum, now ex-CEO and co-founder of WhatsApp, a Facebook subsidiary. Koum, according to the Washington Post, is peacing out over the usual complaints of “strategy” and “Facebook’s attempts to use its personal data and weaken its encryption.” But importantly, he’s already got a backup plan and it involves air-cooled
Porsches.
