| | PCA—Since it was first launched in the mid-1970s, the 911 Turbo has represented what Porsche considers the epitome of its road-car offerings in terms of performance and technology, and not much has changed with the exception of the odd supercar the manufacturer releases every decade or so. |

PCA—Jerry Charlup did not plan to get a 1957 Carrera for his first Porsche 356, luck was just with him that day when he opened up the paper.

| | Motor Trend—The Pikes Peak International Hill Climb is one of only a handful of premier motorsport events that allows amateurs to compete alongside seasoned pros. Combine that fact with the challenge of tackling 156 turns at speed for 12 miles as you climb nearly 5,000 feet to the summit of one of Colorado's tallest mountains, and you have a race unlike any other in the world. It's
that challenge—and the dangers that come with it—that attracts people of all backgrounds and skill levels, and it's why Porsche has been coming back since 1958. In this documentary, produced in association with Porsche, we strap you into the passenger seat of a Porsche Cayman GT4 Club Sport as you follow the trials of the eight competitors in Pikes Peak's first ever Porsche one-make category. |
Jalopnik—This Porsche Cayman GT4 Clubsport is something we haven’t seen in a long time: a factory-built Porsche rally car.
| | PCA—Get ready for another PCA National Office Open House! Join us on Saturday, September 8, 2018 for cars, food and fun with your fellow club members. Come tour the national office and learn some cool PCA history with Executive Director Vu Nguyen. |
The Drive—The era of the absurdly-priced vintage Porsche 911 has long outstayed its welcome. It's gotten to the point where even the four-cylinder 912, once dubbed the "poor man's 911," can cost a pretty penny. Despite handling better than its six-cylinder sibling thanks to less weight, the 912 is not a fast car, and some 911 enthusiasts will
argue that owning one will not give you the authentic Porsche driver's car that we all dream of. Will swapping in a flat-six engine change their minds?Read More
August Porscheplatz and PCA Car Corral |
PCA—Join us at a Porscheplatz this month. The series heads south to Virginia International Raceway for the Michelin GT Challenge / IMSA WeatherTech Sportscars Championship, August 18-19. We will have presentations by Porsche
GT Porsche Motorsports, sponsors, drawings, Parade Laps and more. Watch the races trackside or relax in the Porscheplatz tent with a cool beverage and follow the action on live feed tv monitors. |
| | Autoweek—Described by Porsche as a "spearhead of technology," we find the launch control to be one of our favorite aspects of the 2010 911 Turbo. In its seventh generation, the car sports 500 hp and is more refined than ever before. Come to think of it, eight
years on, they're probably a pretty good value on eBay right now too... |
PCA—Every few years, Porsche Panorama conducts a survey of its readership to ensure that we produce the Porsche content you want to read about. Make the magazine yours by filling out the survey in its entirety. It should only take about five to ten minutes. Only current members and Test Drive participants logged in to the PCA website are allowed access to the survey.
| | PCA—To celebrate 70 years of Porsche, the world’s greatest sports car, Porsche Design has created a timepiece exclusively for Porsche Club of America (PCA) members: the Chronograph 70Y Sportwagen PCA Edition. Strictly limited to only 70 timepieces worldwide, this masterpiece pays tribute to the passion, commitment and camaraderie of PCA members, as well as the legendary Chronograph I,
the first-ever timepiece developed by Porsche Design. Watch purchasers have the option to receive their new timepiece during a ceremony at Rennsport Reunion VI. |
Motor Trend—Driving the latest Workshop 5001 Porsche, a painstakingly restored and modified 964 RS, in the hills of Malibu.
| | Motor1—It’s safe to say the Volkswagen Group has a soft spot for setting new track records not just with high-end cars like the 911 GT2 RS and the Huracan Performante, but also with much cheaper ones such as the Kodiaq RS. After announcing a new record for the fastest production car (Aventador SVJ) at the Nürburgring and after setting EV records with the I.D. R Pikes Peak, the folks
over at VAG are proud to announce Porsche has established six new records. The weapon of choice was the Panamera Turbo S E-Hybrid in the hands of Porsche Test and Development Driver Lars Kern. |
Jalopnik—As I got closer to the infamous RWB HQ in the quaint town of Kashiwa just north of Tokyo, the smell of barbecue filled the muggy air. It was night before the grueling Idlers 12 Hours race held every year at the Twin Ring Motegi circuit, and I had joined the RWB guys as they prepped to head up to the track. |
Road & Track—Why not start your day off right and listen to a few minutes of old Porsche 911 rally cars driving flat-out?
| | Motor1—In a new video, Porsche once again teases its enigmatic Project Gold. The company promises "a classic body is the starting point for a vehicle that will ultimately become a truly unique piece," but so far it appears to be a 993-generation 911 Turbo S with an updated interior and wheels. The automaker's Classic division says this is a special machine requiring 18 months of
construction, so there must be something very different about the car that the firm isn't showing yet. |
Autoblog—This article is intended
to give you both a sense of what you need to do to make sure your brake fluid is in good shape and will allow your car to stop safely, and also a bit about how brake fluid works. There are a few aspects of brake fluid where understanding more about it helps you know what to do, and not do, when you're authorizing repairs or working on the car yourself.Read More |
Road & Track—Car wraps have exploded in popularity these past few years. Wrapping your car is a cheaper, less permanent alternative to repainting, and gives owners a virtually limitless level of customization options for their cars.
Oversteer by Autotrader—It has been about a year since my first post on Oversteer was published back in July 2017. It was an exciting time for the Leedy family, as my wife and I had recently purchased our first Porsche! It was a 1999 Porsche 911 Cabriolet, and I wrote about some of the adventures we took with it last year. |
| | Autoweek—As J.P. Vettraino notes, the Porsche 997-series 911 was good enough to make us wonder what could be done to raise the bar for 997.2. Among the answers: Direct fuel injection. The newest flat six was more rev-happy, lighter, more powerful and more fuel efficient, all for nearly the same base price as the previous car. |

Motor1—Sit back and zone out to 15 minutes of the next-gen 911 lapping the Nürburgring. Seeing so many short clips of the upcoming sports car hypnotizes you within just a few moments and forces viewers to imagine what it's like to be behind the wheel of the new 911.
| | PCA—Described as a museum springing to life, the Rolex Monterey Motorsports Reunion is the largest event held during the famed Monterey Classic Car Week, and is the only event where vintage race cars are doing what they were originally intended to do…race. And what better way to enjoy this step
back into history than to watch the races from the PCA Car Corral and Hospitality Tent? The Car Corral and Hospitality Tent are open to PCA members and Porsche owners. This year our Corral and Tent are located inside Turn 5. For those of you that attended the Porscheplatz at Laguna Seca, you know this is probably one of the primo-viewing areas on the track.

Classic Driver—Finishing the 24 Hours of Le Mans is arguably the ultimate test for any endurance sports-racing car. With that in mind, this 1976 Porsche 934 competed at the Circuit de la Sarthe for six consecutive years, racking up a staggering 127 hours on the legendary French track. Higher bids, anyone? |
PCA—PCA Hill Country Region (HCR) has worked with Circuit of the Americas to provide an exclusive ticket offer for PCA members planning to attend the Formula 1 U.S. Grand Prix, October 19 – 21, 2018 at Circuit of the Americas (COTA), Austin, Texas. COTA has dedicated seating exclusively for PCA members in the T12 and T15 grandstands. Turn 12 prices range from $325.00 - $395.00 per ticket. Turn 15 prices range from $445.00 – $645.00
per ticket. Other ticket options are also available. COTA is also offering PCA members discounted parking in Lot T or Lot F for $100.00. |
Fortune—Say “station wagon” to a generation of Americans and you’ll conjure memories of long roads trips in a Chrysler Town & Country, wood panels and all, with kids screaming “Are we there yet?” in the backseats.
Autoweek—Steve Jobs was a complicated man. He thought even the motherboards of his technology should be beautiful, and he famously parked wherever he wanted, including handicap spots. He bought several places, furnished them and then sold them before moving in, only to live in a barren mansion with little adornment besides a BMW motorcycle. |
| | InsideEVs—The Porsche Taycan is a thing of beauty and wonder. At least, we think it will be if the production version stays true to the sleek roots of the Mission E concept that was unveiled in 2015 at the Frankfurt Motor Show. The German sports sedan will have the 0-to-60 miles per hour quickness of the Tesla Model 3 Performance — 3.5 seconds or less — but with the gravitas of Porsche
heritage to help glue it to the road and drive buyers to showrooms. You know you want one, so let’s take a look at how to order it in the United States. |

Photo by David Dunn. Yosemite Region. "This photo was taken during the Yosemite Region's annual Dual
Pass Tour covering Tioga Pass (9,946 feet) and then Sonora Pass (9,641 ft.).
"This picture was taken from 'Olmstead Point' (8,438 ft.) looking east with Pywiack Dome (8,696 ft.) and Tenaya Lake (8,159 ft.) in the distance. The view west (not shown) shows 'Clouds Rest' (9,926 ft.) and 'Half Dome' (8,860 ft.) from an
angle very seldom featured in pictures, because Half Dome is not very impressive as viewed from the east and from close to the same altitude.
Being in the Yosemite Region gives us many interesting places to explore in close proximity. San Francisco, Santa Cruz, Monterey, Big Sur, and the desert areas just east of the Sierra with geological wonders such as glaciation and an extensive volcanic history,
some as recent as 600 years ago."
Got a stunning shot you want to share? Submit your pictures to potw@pca.org. Be sure to include your contact information, your region name, and a few sentences about your
picture. |
