| | PCA—Yesterday the 2018 Porsche Parade Day at the Concours took place and there were tons of great Porsches on display. However, a few stood out to us and we decided to highlight them and give our reasons why. |

| | Motor Trend—I’m nearly flat on my back, buckled in, knees up, feet on the two pedals, staring at a dazzling array of switches, knobs, buttons, and dash display. In the unlikely event that the green light located to the upper right ever turns red and I must exit this vehicle post haste, I’m instructed to do the “hybrid long jump” from car to
ground, lest I ground the chassis and be instantly fricasseed by a zillion volts of potential energy. |
PCA—Every few years, Porsche Panorama conducts a survey of its readership to ensure that we produce the Porsche content you want to read about. Make the magazine yours by filling out the survey in its entirety. It should only take about five to ten minutes. Only current members and Test Drive participants logged in to the PCA website are allowed access to the survey.
| | Porsche Design—To celebrate seventy years of Porsche, the world’s greatest sports car, Porsche Design has created a timepiece exclusively for Porsche Club of America [PCA] members: the Chronograph 70Y Sportwagen PCA Edition. Strictly limited to only 70 timepieces worldwide, this masterpiece pays tribute to the passion, commitment and camaraderie of PCA members, as well as the legendary

In short: maximum performance. The timepiece is available to order by PCA members starting July 11, at 12 PM PDT.

This week we are back in Germany with a beautiful 1958 356A 1600 Super. Its owner, Sebastian Wolff, has experienced plenty of Porsches in his time—just watch him riding the diesel tractor to the barn where he makes the switch to the significantly
sportier for proof—but he makes no airs of being an expert on the marque. Rather than memorize decimals and stats, the enjoyment is found in the action of driving the car on country roads, or simply admiring the 356 at rest, taking in the distinct curves wearing the elegant shade of Meissen Blue.

| | Roadshow by CNET—Porsche's fantastic 718 Boxster and Cayman range gets a new halo model this year: the GTS. Available with either a fixed roof of removable top, and with manual or dual-clutch automatic transmissions, the GTS siblings are not only the best-driving versions of Porsche's 718, they're arguably the best performance values, too. |
Road & Track—More than 10 years ago, somebody parked the PS 300R prototype in front of the house I was renting in London. Despite that modified air-cooled 911 languishing with a flat rear tire and the unfortunate seatbelt situation, I instantly knew that Paul Stephens' Porsches were something
different. | | |

| | Car and Driver—Although it has the ground clearance and shape of an SUV, the Macan Turbo’s performance and driving thrills quickly erase its crossover mission from the driver’s memory. It’s unapologetically sporty; it races through corners as quickly and tenaciously as the high-end sports cars with which it shares a showroom floor. |
Car and Driver—Fifty years ago in these pages, then senior editor David E. Davis Jr. canonized the BMW 2002 in a piece called “Turn Your Hymnals to 2002.” Davis recognized and celebrated the moment
that a small, upright German car became a force in the market, and the story cemented the BMW legend. While the sports sedan wasn’t born that day, David E.’s analysis announced the arrival, importance, and vitality of a pragmatic machine with the soul of a sports car.
Will an SUV ever have the same sort of moment? Could one ever transcend its inherent dynamic limitations and be as good as a sports
sedan or even a sports car? Will one ever come along that changes the way we see SUVs? Did I lock the front door?

| | Roadshow by CNET—Last week, Volkswagen's fully electric I.D. R Pikes Peak car became the fastest car ever to complete the Pikes Peak International Hill Climb. VW then took its sweet time releasing the footage of the run, which we finally have today. [Ed.: The VW I.D. R is based on the Porsche 919 Hybrid.]Watch Video |
Motor1—Porsche is gearing up for what will most likely be the most revolutionary model in the brand’s history. According to different sources, the all-electric Taycan will go official early next year with first customer deliveries scheduled for later that year, but the vehicle is still in its development phase as this new spy video confirms.
| | Autoweek—Don’t let the placard at the back fool you, this is not a GT3 Touring, at least not technically. What Porsche is offering here is the GT3 with the Touring Package. It's a no-cost option package offered on the GT3 that deletes the fixed rear wing and mandates a manual transmission -- no PDKs allowed -- which means the base price is the same $144,650. Compared to the standard
GT3, the Touring Package-equipped car looks subdued. But from all other perspectives, it’s an aggressive and attention-grabbing 911. |
PCA—Porsche Club of America (PCA) welcomes all
Porsche clubs, owners, and enthusiasts to Werks Reunion Monterey on Friday, August 24. Werks Reunion was created by the Porsche Club of America as an event to celebrate both the Porsche marque as well as the camaraderie of being an enthusiast.

Jalopnik—Safari-style Porsches are the it-car of the moment, embraced by rally hooligans and show bros alike. Now Nico Samaras and Mark Gudaitis plan to take this 1968 Porsche 912 on the 2019 Peking to Paris Motor Challenge to prove it’s not just another pretty Instagram car.
| | Road & Track—Our professional detailer, Larry Kosilla, knows all the in and outs of detailing cars, from deep-cleaning exotics to a quick job on a dusty car. In this article, we'll show you how to wash your car quickly, the right way, in just 15 minutes. After reading it, catch all our Autoblog Details videos for more quick car care tips. |
| | Autoweek—Much of European editor Georg Kacher's look at the 1981 Porsche 911 SC continued to lament the car's aging chassis, but found nothing but positives about the engine, power output and fuel economy. To quote, "If you want a sports car where you can relax behind the wheel, look elsewhere." |
PCA—Described as a museum springing to life, the Rolex Monterey Motorsports Reunion is the largest event held during the famed Monterey Classic Car Week, and is the only event where vintage race cars are doing what they were originally intended to do…race. And what better way to enjoy this step
back into history than to watch the races from the PCA Car Corral and Hospitality Tent? The Car Corral and Hospitality Tent are open to PCA members and Porsche owners. This year our Corral and Tent are located inside Turn 5. For those of you that attended the Porscheplatz at Laguna Seca, you know this is probably one of the primo-viewing areas on the track.

| | Road & Track—The proliferation of the Porsche 911 shows no signs of slowing. In addition to the GT3 RS, we drove two other new variants. First, there’s the GT3 Touring package. Think of it as a GT3 for those who have matured beyond the adolescent looks of a huge rear wing—which probably includes many people who can actually afford a $144,650 sports car. |
PCA—PCA Hill Country Region (HCR) has worked with Circuit of the Americas to provide an exclusive ticket offer for PCA members planning to attend the Formula 1 U.S. Grand Prix, October 19 – 21, 2018 at Circuit of the Americas (COTA), Austin, Texas. Petrolicious—“What this is, is a love letter to Car” James May concluded after his 2013 test drive of the 911 modified by Singer. That brilliantly summarized idea resonated with me (and probably you too) and since then dozens of companies have perked up in pursuit of creating the “Singer of this” or “Singer of that,” and there’s good reason their cars are described that way. | | Photo by Shayan Bokaie / courtesy Petrolicious |
| | Autoblog—Forza Motorsport 7 is getting an update tomorrow. This July update means new playable cars and events for the game, and it starts with Porsches.
Hot on the heels of Porsche's "Pink Pig" livery making a memorable re-appearance at the 24 Hours of Le Mans, the original car that wore it
is introduced for the game.

InsideEVs—In the past few weeks we’ve seen former Formula One champ Nico Rosberg piloting a number of different battery-powered vehicles: his new Energica Ego electric motorcycle, a Tesla Model X, and the ES8 SUV flagship from China’s up-and-coming Nio. As he continues his world electrification tour, we now find him at the headquarters, and later testing track, of Porsche. |
Motor1—We first heard rumors about a Porsche Cayenne coupe version last year, and just last month we learned that Porsche was indeed going forward with such a machine. Now we have solid evidence in the form of spy photos to give us the first look at what could be an intriguing SUV. |
