it on display and you'll be entered into a raffle to win a set of Michelin tires! Offer remains open through Monday, August 6. Werks Reunion was created by the Porsche Club of America as an event to celebrate both the Porsche marque as well as the camaraderie of being an enthusiast.
| | PCA—The 944 is officially approaching middle-age. Hard to believe, but it’s actually 36 years old. Introduced in North America in the fall of 1982
as a 1983 model, the car fixed the perceived faults of the 924. Styling a bit too understated? Check out those Hans and Franz-style bulging fender flares. Engine too rough? How about an aluminum half-a-928 powerplant with counter-rotating balance-shafts and “Porsche” stamped in humongous letters on the cam covers. Like most sports cars, the first example is often the purest. And so it is with the 944. Here’s some of the skinny on why you want an ’83. |
| | PCA—Aside from the 1939 Pact of Steel, Italo-German collaborations are rare indeed. While most dedicated Porschephiles are familiar with the Italian-designed 356 Abarth Carrera GTL, this one-off John von Neumann Bertone 911 is a mystery to all but the most dedicated Porsche fans. It’s drop-dead gorgeous, and it’s also for sale.
|
PCA—It seems like yesterday when we started to spot new Porsche Macan compact SUVs on the road, yet 2014 is long gone and the automaker announced today that 2019 models would receive an update. Don’t expect much to change.

inside of a Russian nesting doll. An office chandelier made from old cylinder jugs. Or the brand-new shell of a 1989 911, tucked in a warehouse next to more classic Porsches than you can easily count. The tub has fenders and doors but no VIN, just a stamped part number on the dash. It has never been built into a car. |
PCA—Every few years, Porsche Panorama conducts a survey of its readership to ensure that we produce the Porsche content you want to read about. Make the magazine yours by filling out the survey in its entirety. It should only take about five to ten minutes. Only current members and Test Drive participants logged in to the PCA website are allowed access to the survey.
| | PCA—To celebrate 70 years of Porsche, the world’s greatest sports car, Porsche Design has created a timepiece exclusively for Porsche Club of America (PCA) members: the Chronograph 70Y Sportwagen PCA Edition. Strictly limited to only 70 timepieces worldwide, this masterpiece pays tribute to the passion, commitment and camaraderie of PCA members, as well as the legendary Chronograph I,
the first-ever timepiece developed by Porsche Design. Watch purchasers have the option to receive their new timepiece during a ceremony at Rennsport Reunion VI. |

Hagerty via YouTube—Why does Catherine Sutton drive? Because looking after her car is a choice, not a chore. She presides over her 1964 Porsche 356 with its wrinkles and patina as if it were a loved one, carefully operating the clockwork of its clutch and accelerator, and the cherished Porsche shepherds her through the sweeping bends of the countryside. At the wheel, Catherine grasps the independence she felt after first passing her driving test.
Anywhere she wants to go, anything she wants to do—the trusty old German connects her to the world through its windshield. Watch Video
| | Motor Trend—Last month, Porsche announced the production version of the Mission E concept would be called the Taycan. Confusingly pronounced "TIE-con," the German automaker's first fully electric vehicle will go on sale next year. Today, Porsche released more information on the Taycan's production specs. Impressively, they aren't all that different than the ones Porsche originally
quoted for the Mission E concept (shown here). |

ultra powerful 911 Turbo S. We take it for a full road test.
| | Porsche Newsroom—Back then, hollow-spoke aluminium wheels were an innovation in the automotive industry. Today, high-tech meets craftsmanship. When adding the finishing touches to the black rims as part of “Classic Project Gold”, the top coat of black paint is precisely removed using a laser, thereby mapping out the golden lines of the design. The Newsroom offers a glimpse behind the
scenes of this extraordinary work step.Watch Video |
Automobile—There are few names more revered in the automotive world than “Porsche Spyder” and Gooding & Company is bringing four cars with just that name to its 2018 Pebble Beach auctions, to coincide with Monterey Car Week.
| | Road & Track—For this year's Pikes Peak International Hillclimb, Porsche invited eight drivers to race in a class featuring the brand's Cayman GT4 Clubsport. Two drivers, three-time Rally America champion and professional daredevil Travis Pastrana, and IndyCar racer and R&T contributor JR Hildebrand, were especially competitive. So much so, they made a $2 bet over who would
finish first. |
Porsche Newsroom—The sea is wild, the sky is gray, and the temperature is 25 degrees Celsius. But it’s only six in the morning. In half an hour the sun will rise for the race to its zenith, burning with the strongest UV radiation on earth, before descending again precisely twelve hours
later. | | |
| | The Drive—Everyone seems to be talking about the Paris-Dakar Porsche 959 rally car that’s going to sell for millions at the RM Sotheby’s auction at the Porsche Experience Center celebrating the brand’s 70th anniversary in October. However, that isn’t the only unique 959 that’s going to the auction block. |
| | That Nine Eleven Guy via YouTube—Meet my friend Johan Dirickx, a serial Porsche owner whose passion for Porsche runs deeper than most. Here, he grants exclusive access to the JFD Collection, boasting every generation of RS and RSR among others in this scintillating lineup, all of which get driven – hard. But which is best? Which is most underrated? And what's it like to properly
restore a Porsche race car? |
PCA—Described as a museum springing to life, the Rolex Monterey Motorsports Reunion is the largest event held during the famed Monterey Classic Car Week, and is the only event where vintage race cars are doing what they were originally intended to do…race. And what better way to enjoy this step
back into history than to watch the races from the PCA Car Corral and Hospitality Tent? The Car Corral and Hospitality Tent are open to PCA members and Porsche owners. This year our Corral and Tent are located inside Turn 5. For those of you that attended the Porscheplatz at Laguna Seca, you know this is probably one of the primo-viewing areas on the track.

| | Jalopnik—Porsche’s original 356 design was quite fetching, especially considering the comparative frumpyness of its contemporaries. It was a compact, sleek, and rounded design in a world of excessive body lines and tail fins. Imagine pulling up next to a 1956 Cadillac in your 1956 Porsche and you’ll understand why the 356 is still a well-loved shape. Back in 1957, though, SoCal Kustom
culture was in full swing and Dean Jeffries decided to build this ugly duckling as proof that he was capable of more than just pretty paint. |
PCA—PCA Hill Country Region (HCR) has worked with Circuit of the Americas to provide an exclusive ticket offer for PCA members planning to attend the Formula 1 U.S. Grand Prix, October 19 – 21, 2018 at Circuit of the Americas (COTA), Austin, Texas. COTA has dedicated seating exclusively for PCA members in the T12 and T15 grandstands. Turn 12 prices range from $325.00 - $395.00 per ticket. Turn 15 prices range from $445.00 – $645.00
per ticket. Other ticket options are also available. COTA is also offering PCA members discounted parking in Lot T or Lot F for $100.00. |
Teslarati—Porsche recently opened reservations for the company’s first all-electric car, the Tesla Model S-rivaling Taycan (formerly known as the Mission E sedan). In an announcement earlier this month, Porsche Managing Director Alexander Pollich stated that the reception to the upcoming vehicle, whose final production version has not yet been unveiled, has so far been encouraging. Porsche expects to start producing the Taycan sometime in 2019, in
order to meet what appears to be a healthy demand for the electric car.
