As you know, Porsche Club of America delivers e-Brake News to your inbox every Tuesday. This is the July monthly recap.

1. Five of the coolest cars at the 2018 Porsche Parade Concours

PCA—Yesterday the 2018 Porsche Parade Day at the Concours took place and there were tons of great Porsches on display. However, a few stood out to us and we decided to highlight them below.

2. Porsche Myths That Won't Die: Part I — Origin of the 914

PCA—Like super-hero backstories, Porsche history is rife with tales that are often repeated but of dubious origin and veracity. Perhaps none is more glaring than the explanation of the design of the 914. Most of the 914’s backstory is fairly transparent: The cooperation with VW, it’s unique badging in Europe, the handshake body-building deal, etc. The identity of the actual stylist of the car, however, had been a bit of a gray area. How gray you might ask? Well, in a word, “charcoal.”

3. Here are the Spring 2018 Member Only Raffle winners [w/video]

PCA—With springtime comes a staple of Porsche Club of America, the Spring 2018 Member Only Raffle, and we gave away four Porsche 718 GTSs — Boxster or Cayman — plus $25,000 cash as the grand prize. After the initial 8,500 entries, another grand prize was added for every additional 4,000 entries sold.

4. Video: Timo Bernhard sets blazing lap record at the Nürburgring in Porsche 919 Hybrid Evo

PCA—The record Nürburgring lap time set by Stefan Bellof 35 years ago in a Porsche 956C fell today when Timo Bernhard blasted around the 12.9-mile track nearly 52 seconds faster in the Porsche 919 Hybrid Evo, with a time of 5:19.55. Watch the full in-car video.

5. Porsche announces special edition PCA 911 GT3 Cup car at Porsche Parade

PCA—Dr. Daniel Armbruster of Porsche Motorsport North America has just announced a special Porsche Club of America edition of the 911 GT3 Cup car at the 63rd Porsche Parade at the Lake of the Ozark. The car is aimed toward the PCA Club Racing crowd.

Griot's Garage partners with PCA for e-Brake Photo of the Week contest

PCA—We are excited to announce a new partnership with Griot's Garage for our Porsche Photo of the Week contest. Starting today, with the May monthly recap, winners will receive a Griot's Garage Concours Lawn Kit, a $99.99 value. We will also randomly award a PotW voter each month a PFM Speed Shine Kit, a $28.99 value. All you have to do is cast a vote for your favorite Porsche photo.

Vote for your favorite Porsche Photo of the Week

Each month, we will feature the Porsche of the Week photos from the previous month. Then we will tally the votes and crown a new Porsche of the Month winner. Starting with this monthly recap edition, PCA, in partnership with Griot's Garage, will be giving away a Concours Lawn Kit to contest winners and a PFM Speed Shine Kit to randomly selected voters.
