| | PCA—PCA Hurricane Region Member Steve Bastian has loved Porsches since the 1980s, and instead of pouring his automotive passion into just air-cooled or rear-engined cars (he has those, too), his pride and joy is a highly modified 1989 944 Turbo that he lovingly refers to as a "944 RS."

| | PCA—A popular PCA member benefit is The Mart, the club’s classifieds section online and in each issue of Porsche Panorama. Mart Fresh is a bi-weekly column in which PCA media staff pick what they think are
the "freshest" Porsches currently available, and then attempt to explain their reasoning. Up this week are a 2012 911 Carrera, 2013 Boxster, and 2006 Cayenne Turbo S.
|
| | PCA—Closing out 2018, Porsche Panorama's December issue is packed with exciting stories. First we go to "Rennsport Reunion VI," one of the great events for fans of Porsche's race history. Our extensive coverage includes driving impressions of some legendary cars and interviews with Porsche racing luminaries. Also at Rennsport was rocker John Oates, who has been a member of PCA
since 1980. He recently treated himself to a very special car, a customized 356 Outlaw from Emory Motorsports. Check out "The Oates Outlaw." The four-door Panamera line continues to expand, and this month we drove the GTS and 4E-Hybrid Sport Turismo versions. Turn to "Rapid Transit" for our impressions from both road and track. Hurricane Region member Steve Bastian has spent top dollar getting his 944 Turbo exactly the way he likes it. Read about this extraordinary project, what we call "The
Screamer," and click here to watch the video as well.

| | Autoblog—If Porsche fanatics had their way, the pitchfork-wielding minority would probably have never permitted the German carmaker to release an SUV into the market. Fifteen years and more than 770,000 units later, the 2019 Porsche Cayenne ushers in a third-generation take on Zuffenhausen's biggest sporty utes, a model that has been indisputably effective in forging Porsche's
long-term financial success.

Road & Track—The Ford Raptor has a problem: it’s monstrous. While it makes a lot of sense on the Baja Peninsula or bashing through snow outside of Park City, it makes no sense whatsoever in the city. For all of Los Angeles’s sprawl, it’s a city shockingly devoid of space. Designed around normal sized cars, not behemoth
trucks, and with many garages and driveways designed 50, 60 years ago, LA isn’t ready for the Raptor.

| | The Smoking Tire via YouTube—Just 600 miles of driving after getting my Safari Build back from Leh Keen, I started getting a heavy amount of oil smoke from the exhaust, and the engine began to burn twice as much oil as designed. I took the car to TLG Auto in North Hollywood, CA, where air-cooled expert Marco Gerace disassembled the entire motor and diagnosed the issue. We visit Marco
to see exactly what went wrong, and find out what it's going to cost to get it back together and good as new.

| | Top Gear via YouTube—A clash of the analogue Porsches? It’s a David vs Goliath battle of retro-flavoured 911s as Top Gear Magazine takes a look at the Porsche 911 Carrera T vs the Porsche GT3 Touring and which car makes us smile more on a series of epic roads in the south of France.

| | Petrolicious—We’ve featured a lot of Porsche 911s on Petrolicious, but few have lived as many lives as this 1971 example has. It belongs to a barrister from Johannesburg named Andre Bezuidenhout, and since he acquired it in the early 1990s as a candidate for a race car conversion it has been through a few phases.
|
Daily Herald—If the unannounced arrival of his oldest daughter and his granddaughter weren't a clue, the red "Porsche" cap he was handed about 11 a.m. Monday was a pretty clear hint.
But the real surprise came a short time later.

| | Business Insider—My Business Insider colleague Ben Zhang is a serious fan of the Porsche Boxster. The mid-engine machine was rolled out on 1996 to shouts of "Heresy!" from Porsche loyalists who thought the brand's 911 was perfection and shouldn't be messed with. If you want two doors and Porsche goodness, the argument went, you buy a 911. End of discussion.
|
Automobile—Surprise, surprise—the all-new 992-generation 2020 Porsche 911 looks fairly similar to the outgoing 991/991.2. But while this sort of evolutionary aesthetic approach has been the case for generations of 911s now, a new iteration of Porsche’s icon almost always brings more comprehensive updates underneath the skin, and we just
spent a few days in Stuttgart to dive deep into the technology and engineering that make the 992 special.
| | |
| | Motor Trend—You don't want to be that person at the next Cars and Coffee meet up, where mispronouncing car names can be nearly as egregious a faux pas as oversteering your Mustang into, well, anything. (At least you probably won't end up on YouTube, though.)
|
Motor1—The changes in the new Porsche 911 are admittedly scarce, and only a few eagle-eyed individuals would be able to spot the differences between the outgoing model and the 992-generation 911. But what do you expect? It's a 911, and Porsche made sure that it sticks to the formula in making its flagship car.

| | Car and Driver—BMW and Porsche have co-developed a charging station, currently being operated as an experimental station in Germany, which they say can feed up to 62 miles of electric driving range in less than three minutes.

Jalopnik—The Porsche Panamera Sport Turismo is the powerful performance wagon of your driving dreams. It’s beautiful, feels good, makes sexy noises, and, obviously makes you the envy of all your friends when you are behind the wheel. Does it have a lot of wonderful qualities? Yes. But given that this one cost over $210,000, I
will now point out some extremely minor and petty, yet recognizable, flaws.

Oversteer by Autotrader—It was the spring of 2017, and I remember it clearly. My wife and I had spent the winter sending each other online Porsche advertisements, mostly dreaming, not really intending to take any home. That is, until she found the link to a certain blue 1999 Porsche 911 Cabriolet appeared, and I responded
with "actually …". It wasn't long before we had signed paperwork and we're driving home in our first Porsche.

| | Petrolicious—he Porsche 911 is one of the major culprits responsible for starting millions of love affairs with the automobile. It is depicted in countless publications, it has worn almost every hat in the catalog when it comes to motorsport ventures, and to each person the 911 represents something slightly different—it all depends on your frame of reference and tastes. Bart Kuykens is
one of many that have fallen for these unique cars with flat-six engines mounted “in the trunk,” and his 1970 911T was featured in one of the brand’s promotional campaigns surrounding the recently-unveiled 992 generation of the longstanding sports car. His story goes back much further than that, though.

Autoblog—Gasoline engines still have a place in our future according to a company called Micro Wave Ignition (MWI). This German startup gets its name directly from the technology it's attempting to pioneer. Instead of igniting fuel using traditional spark plugs, these guys want to use pulsed microwaves for ignition. This
process burns fuel at a lower temperature, which MWI says can cut consumption of gasoline by up to 30 percent, and emissions by as much as 80 percent.

| | Jalopnik—If Singer helped jumpstart our current restomod revolution, 2018 seems to be the year to buy a reimagined version of what you lusted after when you were a kid. Singer’s still kicking ass, Amos just made the planet cross its legs with a pretty ridiculous Integrale, and outside of the headlines there’re a ton more places willing to sell you a new version of an old car you used
to love. One such company is Paul Stephens.

PCA—To celebrate 70 years of Porsche, the world’s greatest sports car, Porsche Design has created a timepiece exclusively for Porsche Club of America (PCA) members: the Chronograph 70Y Sportwagen PCA Edition. Strictly limited to only 70 timepieces worldwide, this masterpiece pays tribute to the passion, commitment and camaraderie of PCA members, as well as the legendary Chronograph I,
the first-ever timepiece developed by Porsche Design.

News BTC—One of the planet’s largest vehicle distributors has just finalised a $170 million loan using blockchain technology. Porsche completed the deal with the Spanish bank Banco Bilboa Vizcaya Argentaria’s (BBVA) blockchain platform.

| | Electrek—Porsche announced today that it is adding a new 32-tonne all-electric truck to its commercial fleet to be used for the preparation of the production of the Taycan, Porsche’s first all-electric vehicle.

Top Gear—#1. The ‘Wet Mode’ makes it pretty much uncrashable.
Famous last words. And yet, the new 992’s Wet Mode might just mitigate one or two of those “watch this” moments. Acoustic sensors (basically robot ears) live in the front wheelarch and listen for spray ricocheting around the wheelhouse. When it’s Defcon Wet, the digital dashboard politely suggests the driver twiddles the mode switch to Wet Mode (south of Normal, Sport, Sport Plus and Individual).

Photo by Harv Ames. North Country Region. "My wife and I enjoy kayaking and P-car cruising. But weakened upper body strength has impacted our lifting abilities — kayaks can weigh 35-45 pounds. Then we discovered canoe-kayaking and an advanced technology - Kevlar/carbon-fiber
construction. We now have his and hers 'boats' that weigh 12 pounds for the 11 foot one (hers) and 13 pounds for the 12 foot model (mine).
"As a lark, I teased the manufacturer of the canoe-kayaks, Peter Hornbeck, in Olmstedville, NY, that when we meet him to be fitted for our individual water crafts that we stage them on top of our Porsche. It was supposed to be a joke, but the fitment actually worked. Water noodles were cut to nestle onto the gunwales and allow the canoe-kayaks to rest on the convertible top.
"I don't travel at "Porsche-Speed" to and from the many launch spots in our area, but I don't slow folks down, either. And of course, a LOT of conversation ensues when I arrive with my ship on top...
"The photo is staged in front of our nautical-compass-design barn door - I thought it only fitting!"
