| | PCA—PCA Executive Director Vu Nguyen grew up near Columbia, Maryland, close to the club's National Office, yet he was surprised to learn about a special, right-hand-drive 1960 Porsche 356 cabriolet that had lived most of its life less than a mile away from his childhood home and high school.

Polasek of Northern New Jersey Region in third. Congratulations to the podium finishers!

| | PCA—A popular PCA member benefit is The Mart, the club’s classifieds section online and in each issue of Porsche Panorama. Mart Fresh is a bi-weekly column in which PCA media staff and guest contributors pick what they think are the "freshest" Porsches currently available, and then attempt to explain their reasoning. Up this week are a 1986 944 race car, 1985 911 Turbo, and 1995
968.

Autoblog—The 2020 Porsche 718 Boxster T and its Cayman T sibling are unlikely to satisfy those still hoping for a return to six-cylinder power for Porsche's entry-level sports cars. They still have a turbocharged four, and the smaller one at that. Yet, while we have a strong suspicion that a boxer-six return will eventually
come, Porsche is at least doing plenty to make the four-cylinder 718's more attractive. First was the 718 GTS, based on the 2.5-liter four of the 718 S, and now come the 718 Boxster T and 718 Cayman T, based on the entry-level 718 with its 2.0-liter four. Unlike the GTS, the T gets no extra power, but it's still a real performance version. Let us explain.

| | Road & Track—Don't let the GT2 RS's 700 horsepower fool you—it wasn't designed for straight-line speed. That giant wing, that stripped-out interior, and those massive front tires are all there to make the car go as quickly as possible around a race track. It held the production-car Nürburgring lap record, after all. But, as this video demonstrates, it's still wildly capable at the
drag strip.

Petrolicious—Out of all the fine machinery on parade in this year’s Rallye Monte-Carlo Historique, there was one particular marque that seemed to be represented more than most. It may have been a trick of the mind, or perhaps just a result of the timing with which I intercepted the rally as it twisted and wound its way along
the route, but whatever the reason and wherever I was, I was never very far from a Porsche.

| | Autoweek—What is it: Yet another fabulous Porsche 911, the GT3 has been around since the late ’90s, designed for the FIA GT3 class. Porsche says this latest version stays true to the original mission: track-bred performance, lightweight construction and “an unfiltered driving experience.” These days, the GT3 is the only normally aspirated 911 available, using the 4.0-liter flat six
from the GT3 Cup racer. Our test car has the Touring package, so the fixed rear wing is gone. In its place is the Carrera’s automatically extending spoiler. I like that. It’s stealthy even with the huge front air intakes and center-cap wheels. The look seems to me a nice blend between sleeper and no ordinary 911.

Roadshow by CNET—With hotter S and Turbo versions of the 2019 Porsche Cayenne on offer, the idea of saddling up in the base model might be a bit unappealing to some. On paper, the Cayenne's 335-horsepower V6 seems downright pedestrian to the 434-horsepower S and ridiculous 541-horsepower Turbo.

| | Road & Track—Ever wonder what happens when you blow a tire going 180 mph? Well, this video is a good demonstrator.
This clip was originally published in 2015, but we think it's still relevant today. It shows a track-only 997-generation Porsche 911 RSR driven by Cory Friedman losing its right rear tire while going nearly 200 mph on the back straight of Daytona International Speedway. This happened during the Porsche Club of America's October race that year.

InsideEVs—Formula 1 star Nico Rosberg presents this brilliant and, at times rather humorous, drag race featuring a Tesla Model 3 and a Porsche GT2 RS.
It’s a race on the Monaco pier. Can the instant torque and all-wheel-drive of the Tesla Model 3 Performance beat the might of the Porsche GT2 RS? The finish is extremely close. Mind you, this is a Model 3 and not the Model S P100D, so it’s not a given the Tesla will win this race.

Autoweek—Two-thirds of the way through winter, Easterners are on the lookout for any hint of spring. For those with a passion for vintage cars, the arrival of the Amelia Island Concours d’Elegance is the one true sign of temperate days ahead. The warmth of the
northern Florida sun — the polar vortex is emphatically uninvited — is all the hope needed to sustain the faithful until the equinox.

| | Roadshow by CNET—Germany's Ruf Automobile has once again built a higher-performing version of a Porsche model. Revealed Tuesday at the Geneva Motor Show as Ruf celebrates its 80th anniversary, the new Ruf GT is based on the outgoing, 991.2-generation Porsche 911 GTS.

Motor1—Even the most die-hard Porsche 911 fans have to admit that the Cayman would be a superior piece of machinery if only Porsche let it. In fact, an earlier version of the 981 chassis Cayman – before the 718 switchover (982) – did just that.
| | |
| | The Drive—Porsche will reportedly continue to sell its current, internal combustion-powered Macan crossover alongside its electric successor.
The automaker announced Tuesday that the next generation of Macan crossover will be sold exclusively as an electric vehicle (EV), one sharing the J1-derived PPE architecture co-developed by Audi and Porsche, along with their respective 800-volt drivetrain systems. Porsche's electric Macan will be its third EV, following the Taycan sedan that launches late this year, and its Taycan Cross Turismo relative
thereafter.

Jalopnik—With the eighth-generation Porsche 911 having made its debut at the 2018 Los Angeles Auto Show, we anticipated waiting months for the automaker to start rolling the high-horsepower variants. Up until now, we’ve seen the Carrara S, 4S, and their convertible counterparts. But we didn’t expect to see the 992 Turbo until
the fall.

| | Motor1—Carwow is at it again. The UK-based car site loves to drag race and we’ll give credit where credit is due; they get some seriously quick machines lined up for straight-line sprints. The latest adventure is a full-on luxury sedan showdown where 625 horsepower (466 kilowatts) is the least powerful machine in the group. Oh, what great times we live in.
|
Reuters—Volkswagen’s Porsche unit on Sunday said it was cooperating with state prosecutors to clear up investigations into alleged tax debts related to early retirees and taxable benefits enjoyed by former top executives.

Autocar—The soft-top Porsche 911 Cabriolet shares its launch line-up with the new 911 coupé, which means the rear-wheel-drive Carrera S and four-wheel-drive Carrera 4S models will be offered.

Motor1—Porsche is developing cars that can drive themselves into the workshop to make maintenance faster and more efficient, the German company has announced.
The sports car manufacturer is working with Berlin-based start-up Kopernikus Automotive to create a testing ground at its base in Ludwigsburg, just north of Stuttgart. There, the two firms will collaborate to test autonomous technology that allows cars to drive themselves from the car park to the workshop, before being driven on to the inspection ramp remotely.
