PCA—The roar of Road America only a few miles away has faded. It’s quiet and, despite the
| | sun being lower, still miserably hot. A blue 911 crests the hill just past a telephone pole that marks the farm’s driveway. The throttle opens with a crack on each downshift, snarling loudly on the overrun, a crass juxtaposition in the sparsely populated countryside.

| | PCA—Billy Smith, II, of Maverick Region took first place at the PCA Sim Racing Series race at Road America, followed by Elliot Skeer of San Diego Region in second, and Michael Polasek of Northern New
Jersey Region in third. Congratulations to the podium finishers!
Round Six of the PCA Sim Racing Series provided late race drama resulting in a leader shake up just before the checker flag. Smith is the first three-time winner in the closely contested first six races.

Road & Track—When a carmaker decides to develop a radically different platform, its test mules for the upcoming vehicle can't be based on a previous model. That's why back in 2008, McLaren Automotive's development cars were two Ferrari 360s, and an Ultima GTR. Porsche found itself in a similar situation in the early
1970s.

The Drive—It was early September when Shiraaz Sookralli reached a breaking point. He'd been at it for over a year now, and he could no longer ignore the damage he'd done. In his job as a sales executive at Champion Porsche, a gleaming temple of commerce in south Florida and the largest Porsche dealer in the country, he
promised dozens of clients a coveted reservation for one of the company's high-demand 911 GT cars, collecting over $2 million in deposits for the privilege. But it was all a lie, or more accurately, federal fraud. The orders, the updates, the cars themselves—none of it was real.
|
| | Car and Driver—Widebody 911s with bulging fenders and steamroller tires have terrorized California's canyon roads for decades. But rarely do such Porsches, swollen to the point of requiring an EpiPen, go down the road as well as this Gunther Werks.
|
The Drive—The iconic Porsche 917 is celebrating its 50th anniversary this year and held its birthday bash at Goodwood's 77th annual Member's Meeting this past weekend. As Porsche's first Le Mans winner, the 917 received a special parade around the Goodwood Motor Circuit, where four of the most famous cars in the
prototype racer's lineup set tire on the track once again.

| | PCA—The rules and regulations set forth herein are the Parade Competition Rules, known as the PCRs. The purpose of the PCRs is to provide for the orderly conduct of all official and unofficial competitive events of the Porsche Parade and to make provisions for participant and spectator safety. Fairness to and among competitors is the goal of the PCRs.

Petrolicious—The sound is still ringing in my ears and it’s been well over a week. Approaching its 7,500-rpm redline, the 4.4L flat-six in the back of this car demonstrates just how worth it all the hard work was. Being a Porsche enthusiast and 911 owner myself, this is nothing short of a dream engine build. It is 440
horsepower of pure air-cooled magic; no turbochargers, just naturally-aspirated operatic screams.

| | PCARMARKET—Even though the auction format is growing in popularity, some prefer a more traditional platform for buying and selling their cars. In its quest to serve the Porsche community at the highest level, PCARMARKET will be introducing a new feature. Starting this weekend, DEALTANK DIRECT will allow sellers to list cars for sale and receive real-time offers
without first going through the auction process. This format will be the first of its kind. Here are some of the highlights:
- Pre-qualified buyers
- Exposure to the right audience
- Direct communication with potential buyers
- Community interaction (thread messaging)
- Robust listing write ups
- Full photo gallery
- Accessible support
- Market Correct Pricing

| | Hagerty—I was 11 when I fell in love for the first time. The object of my affection was, of course, automotive—I was only just beginning to find girls interesting, and my distaff classmates couldn’t really compete with the lure of a properly executed sporting car. Not just any car, mind you, but a Porsche 911 SC. Guards red, with those iconic black ATS wheels. [Ed.: Wheels on
the car pictured here are Fuchs, not ATS.]

Carfection via YouTube—Porsche Taycan might not be coming out until the end of the year but our very own Tim Stevens got an EXCLUSIVE first drive along as a passenger in a secret location.
| | |
InsideEVs—Porsche just reaffirmed that the Taycan will have a 2-speed rear transaxle when it comes to final production. What improvement in acceleration times and range should we expect with this more complex and expensive addition?
| | |
The Drive—Over the last weeks, rumors about a drastic expansion of the Automotive Grade Linux ecosystem have been rampant, and today, the Linux Foundation finally confirmed that Germany’s Volkswagen Group has jumped on the rapidly accelerating AGL bandwagon. “Yes, they signed, and we’ll send out an announcement
shortly,” AGL spokesperson Emily Olin said.
|
| | Autoblog—The Porsche 911 GT2 RS is shocking. Other stupid-quick cars can be giggle-enducing, the sheer ferocity of their thrust speaking of lunacy to the point of humor. I laughed when launching a Mustang Bullitt or BMW M5. Not the GT2 RS. It's something different. It's scary.
|
Consumer Reports via YouTube—The sporty driving Porsche Cayenne offers a luxurious cabin, standard advanced safety features and brand cache. But, the SUV’s stiff ride and a high price tag may be a turn off, especially for buyers who focus on comfort.
| | |
| | Road & Track—If you’d asked me as little as four years ago what I thought of the 996 Carrera design language, I might have spit on the ground and cursed its mother. As we age we gain wisdom, though, right? I’ve recently come around to the unfettered and quite handsome bodywork of the 996. And I’m not just talking about the wide hip Turbo and Carrera 4S, or the extra special
sauce GT3. No, the bare bones 996 Carrera 2 is rapidly becoming my favorite Porsche design.
|
The Drive—A prototype of Porsche's first-ever electric vehicle, the Taycan sports sedan, has been filmed trotting around Copenhagen, Denmark in light camouflage.
| | |
| | Motor1—We can’t deny it – this is one of the most unusual drag races we’ve seen in a while. We know Top Gear loves to pit against each other all kinds of fast vehicles but this new short drag race video takes that to a whole new level. Who would have believed a Porsche Cayman GTS, an Audi RS3, and a Mercedes-AMG G63 would make for a pretty solid lineup in a standing-start
race?
|
Roadshow by CNET—In 2017, the European Union's antitrust regulators headed to the offices of BMW, Daimler and members of the Volkswagen Group to investigate allegations that the automakers colluded against improving their vehicles' emissions.
