| | PCA—The Cayman was a case of love at first sight for me. I saw one for the first time at the North American International Auto Show in 2006, and in an era when the 911 was increasing in size, the Cayman
struck me as just right. The lovely semi-fastback roofline and the delicate rear quarter windows differentiated the car from the Boxster and were extremely well executed.

| | Hagerty—Perusing the traits that Porsche and Ferrari share, including ultra-fast sports cars and matchless racing provenance, you eventually come to “stepchildren.” For Ferrari, it was the 1967–74 Dino, a mid-engine model powered by a V-6 engine designed by Ferrari but built by Fiat (and also used in the Fiat Dino Coupe and Spider). Porsche’s was the 1969–76 914, a mid-engine targa-top
roadster born from collaboration with Volkswagen and using an air-cooled VW engine.

Automobile—While the various lots and campgrounds near Daytona International Speedway offer lots of opportunities to spot random neat spectator cars, a few car clubs reserve space for member parking. Along with Corvette and BMW, the Porsche Club of America was out in full force, filling up a lot to the brim with 911s,
Boxsters, Caymans, and 944s. Here are our favorites spotted among that crowd at this year’s race.

Jalopnik—Some of the most breathtaking sports car racing of all time took place on Sunday in Australia as the young Aussie Matt Campbell put on an absolute masterclass in the closing hour of the Bathurst 12. After a strong and consistent run by his co-drivers Dirk Werner and Dennis Olson, Campbell took over for the final
stint a bit behind the leaders, but on fresher rubber, and put an impressive stamp on Porsche’s win docket.

Autoevolution—Earlier this month, Porsche came up with the 992 Neunelfer Carrera Aerokit, which is essentially a generously-sized rear wing. Certain Zuffenhausen fans started fretting since the new aero element would bring the Carrera close to the look of the GT3. However, as we explained when introducing the said

| | Porsche Newsroom—At the wheel of the vehicle sat the Porsche brand ambassador Mark Webber. The Australian thrilled home crowds at the famous Mount Panorama Circuit.
“The last time I drove at Bathurst was 24 years ago in the Formula Ford. Driving now on this wonderful circuit with this sports car was a sensational experience for me,” says the world endurance champion of 2015. “It’s incredible how much punch the engine has. Although I wasn’t driving at the maximum racing speed, I still reached 296 km/h at the end of the straight. Crazy!”

Road & Track—The 911 makes a great sound, but it's not the only Porsche with a flat-six. Early Caymans and Boxsters also came with six-cylinder power plants, which means they make a comparatively good noise that we can't get enough of.

| | Jalopnik—It was at the Detroit Auto Show earlier this month that I was confronted with a very sobering and ugly realization: I work with people who were not aware of the Michelin Man’s given name. These weren’t just some rubes off the street, people who don’t know a tire from a colossal licorice bagel with sipes and sidewalls, but people I respect who know cars in a deep, rich
way.

Motor Trend—Porsche made 1,270 copies of the Carrera GT between 2003 and 2006, and one of them has been given a unique restoration by the automaker's heritage division. At the request of a collector in the U.S., Porsche Classic completely reworked a Carrera GT into the Oak Green Metallic beauty you see

| | The Drive—An old-school Porsche 911 Turbo (known also as a 930) has been converted into a limousine and is now for sale in California.
Surfacing in a Craigslist ad in late December or early January, the vehicle in question is a 1989 model from the final year of the 930's 15-year production run. It started out life as a 3.3-liter car with the "speedster" convertible roof option, and according to a Porsche 911 book (via forum post), was one of 600 such cars sold in the United States in 1989.

Petrolicious—Whoa, what?! First things first, this is a 997, built by UK company Reflex Auto Design in homage to the Rothmans livery Porsche 935 and 962 Le Mans cars. It was completed in summer 2018 and generated plenty of publicity in the modified car scene. Now it’s up for sale with Historics Auctioneers, estimated at
£85,000-90,000 ($111,000-118,000).

Petrolicious—It is the winter of 1970 in Great Britain, and the RAC Rally is underway. Like usual, cold, wet, and murky conditions prevail. Despite the weather there is a thick row of spectators standing along the sides of these woodland stages. Somewhere in amongst the people is a young Paul Bloxidge, just one of many fans
hoping to catch a glimpse of their hero flying across these pocked and rutted British roads.
