| | PCA—Last week Porsche formally debuted the new 991.2-based 911 Speedster at the New York International Auto Show, months after it made its first appearance at Rennsport Reunion VI in September. We’re happy to report it looks great with the top down, has a 4.0-liter naturally aspirated flat-six largely based on that in the GT3, and will be available only
with a manual transmission.

Petrolicious—I saw this unique 924S for the first time at the Porsche Experience Center Los Angeles during one of the #MorningShift gatherings held there each month. Aside from the Porsche factory rally cars that get carted around to the big events and display stands, I think it this build was my first encounter with a
transaxle Porsche prepared for less-than-smooth surfaces. In person, the chunky BFG KO2 tires, functional and scarred skid plates, bug-eyed array of rally lights, and integrated winch really set off the otherwise pedestrian styling of the 924 body. It’s certainly not a homely car in stock form, but in the company of hot-rodded 911s and 356s and other classic P-cars, the 924 is usually the one you walk past at a show without much thought.

| | Autoblog—Like many others before him, Manfred Huber fell in love with a sound. He was about 12 years old when he first heard it, the "chainsaw-like screeching," as he describes it, of a Porsche, and it hooked him for life. As an adult, he realized his dream of owning one, but there was a barrier. Huber was in a wheelchair because he did not have
legs.

| | Motor1—A new Porsche 911 Speedster is finally here after years of waiting and countless spy photos of the droptop's gradual development. All of the German brand's speedsters are significant machines in the company's history, and in light of the latest one's debut, let's look back on these open-roofed models from the past.

Automobile—Seven years after the Tesla Model S kicked off the premium EV segment, Jaguar launched the I-Pace, but the first such zero-emission vehicles from Germany are only now beginning to emerge into the public sphere. To sample a taste of the electro-Teutonic future, we brought together the Audi e-tron, the Mercedes
EQC, and the Porsche Mission E Cross Turismo (which will become the Taycan Cross Turismo). Welcome to a smog-free parallel universe where three different BEVs reinvent the term waftability.

| | Motor Trend Channel via YouTube—On this Preview of Head 2 Head Episode 109, presented by Tire Rack, Jethro Bovingdon and Jonny Lieberman test the Porsche GT3 RS and the McLaren 600LT on a particularly balmy, wet California day at Big Willow Springs with Randy Pobst. Can the Porsche dominate in these conditions!
|
Car and Driver—With the knowledge that Porsche has baked a hybrid variant into the product plan of the latest 992-generation Porsche 911, the electrical whine and additional forward thrust produced by this modified 991-era 911 Carrera provides a tantalizing glimpse into the future. This is the effect of the Vonnen
Shadow Drive (VSD), an aftermarket hybrid conversion designed by Vonnen Performance that, provided you can justify the not-insignificant cost, integrates a battery and an electric motor into Zuffenhausen's sports car years before the factory gets around to it.

Motor1—The Porsche 911 is an absolute terror on the track. We know this, and actually, just about a month ago we were talking about a 911 on the very track pictured above. It’s Road Atlanta, which as you can probably surmise by the name is located not far from the major southern U.S. metropolis in Braselton, Georgia. At
2.4 miles it’s not an endurance monster like the Nürburgring is, but Road Atlanta is a technical high-speed dynamo featuring difficult turns and a massive straight with a slight right-hand kink that makes even seasoned drivers sweat a bit.
| | |
| | Oversteer by Autotrader—If you're looking for a Porsche but you can't afford a new-ish 911, you obviously aren't alone — but that doesn't mean you should simply give up on your Porsche dreams. You don't have to have a new, or slightly new, 911 in order to have fun in a Porsche — and there's no greater proof of that than the "986"
Boxster.
|
Road & Track—Don't let the GT2 RS's 700 horsepower fool you—it wasn't designed for straight-line speed. That giant wing, that stripped-out interior, and those massive front tires are all there to make the car go around a race track as quickly as possible. It held the production-car Nurburgring lap record, after all.
But, as this video demonstrates, it's still hugely capable at the drag strip.

| | The Drive via YouTube—Six-time 24 Hours of Le Mans winner Jacky Ickx is a legend of motorsports, man of a million stories and a racing philosopher. Spinelli was truly starstruck doing this full-length interview at Classic Car Club Manhattan. A must-listen for fans of classic motorsport.
|
Autoblog—Automakers are looking for every way to make their companies more friendly to the environment. While electric vehicles represent the most public-facing plan, there are several other steps manufacturers are trying to build a greener and more sustainable future. Porsche is focusing part of its energy on
offsetting the carbon dioxide released from internal combustion cars it is using, has sold, is selling, and will sell in the near future. All of the company's U.S. fleets will now be carbon-neutral, and a program called Porsche Impact will give customers a chance to offset their carbon emissions.
| | |
Motor Trend—Late last year, Porsche finally took the wraps off the redesigned 2020 911. As we found when we drove it a few months later, the new 911 Carrera S is "thrillingly fast, telepathically responsive, and wonderfully communicative. It's all 911, all the time, yet more approachable and trustworthy at the limit
than ever before." Even if we're not entirely sold on some of the styling changes, a review like that has us anxious to drive other variants. And based on what we can see of the prototype shown here, it won't be long before Porsche introduces the new 911 Targa.
|
Carscoops—We’re usually open to all sorts of engine swaps, but understandably, stuffing a giant HEMI V8 into…the front end of a Porsche 911 is way too out there even for the most adventurous.
| | |
| | Motor1—The Porsche 911 GT3 and the even more hardcore GT3 RS have an overall setup with more of an emphasis on corner carving rather than straight-line speed. People still take them to the drag strip, though. This clip from Drag Times highlights just how little difference there is between a GT3 and GT3 RS in a quarter-mile race.

| | Road & Track—It's not often that a Porsche that competed at the 24 Hours of Le Mans come up for sale, so you might want to see this one. It's a 956 that competed in the 1983 running of the race, driven by father-and-son duo Mario and Michael Andretti. It's listed on Classic Driver. You should buy it.

InsideEVs—Porsche: "Following the successful roll-out of the Porsche Formula E car at the test facility in Weissach at the start of March, the project is now taking its next step, testing at the Calafat racetrack in Spain, where preparations for the coming season in the ABB FIA Formula E Championship enter their next
phase."
| | |
| | Automotive News—Porsche is gearing up to launch the Taycan full- electric sedan, which it promises will be the first of many battery-driven Porsches to come. Executives expect to largely transfer the bulk of the automaker's product range to electric drivetrains by the end of the next decade.

Photo by Alan Wagner. Milwaukee Region. "This photo was taken in the underground parking
structure beneath the 2001 addition to the Milwaukee Art Museum designed by noted Spanish Architect Santiago Calatrava. During the design of the structure, I had the good fortune to work with Dr. Calatrava as the project’s foundation consultant. Since seeing the completed structure, I have thought that it would be a perfect place for photographing a Porsche. However, I put off a visit with my car until recently. I think the dramatic arches supporting the museum above are the perfect,
complementary backdrop for the arched roof line of my Meteor Grey 2007 Cayman S."
