| | PCA—We recently visited TECHART's headquarters in Germany, where CEO Steven Ratz walked us through various stages of the in-house manufacturing process that allow the company to build fast, stylish, and comfortable cars. We captured it all on video and also got a preview of three of the company's latest creations.

PCA—In what could be the most earth-shaking news to come out of the vintage Porsche world in several years, RM/Sotheby’s has announced that it has consigned the earliest car to wear the Porsche badge,
the famed 1939 Type 64 Berlin-Rome competition special.

| | PCA—True artistry is found in originality. Yes, inspiration has its place in the process as an energetic wave of enthusiasm serving something new. But the artist must deliver his or her original ideas and vision to the act of creation overall. When Ferdinand Porsche created his now iconic car company, each original design had to be
imagined.

| | Automobile—Riding in a preproduction Porsche Taycan Turbo with chief project engineer Stefan Weckbach at the wheel is a bit like living inside a Marvel movie while wearing a VW headset while sitting in a Dallara race-car simulator. The whisper-quiet all-electric Porsche with a driveline on steroids lifts the terms “velocity” and “acceleration” to altogether
different levels.

| | Trailer. Set. Go!—From your newly acquired barn find 944 to 911 Cup racecar, towing your prized Porsche takes care and good trailer maintenance.
To ensure the most service life out of your trailer tires, proper inflation techniques and tire pressure maintenance are critical. Before you take your Porsche its next long trip, be sure those aspects of your tires are meeting the manufacturer’s recommendations. In addition to tire pressure and inflation, inspect the suspension, bearings, and lug nuts to make sure they’ve been properly torqued to the manufacturer’s
specifications.

Motor Trend—It's become an article of faith among some enthusiasts that a real driver would always choose a stick shift over flappy paddles. OK, quick quiz. Money no object, which would you choose: Porsche's 911 GT2 RS or the 911 GT3 Touring? Turbo and PDK with flappy paddles or naturally aspirated with an old-school
six-speed stick shift and a third pedal in the footwell? Two different solutions to the same challenge, each quintessentially 911, and there's really no wrong answer. But after a bunch of miles in each, I know which transmission I'd choose. Every time.
| | |
Hagerty—A lithe young woman with big, teased hair leans against the driver’s door of a white Porsche, flashing her beguiling smile at a seemingly older and clearly enthusiastic man at the wheel. It’s not an ad for male “assistance.” It’s the cover of Motor Trend’s June 1988 issue, and it set off some sparks with a cover
line that coyly posed the question, “Porsche’s New Speedster?”
|
Autocar—Here's a fast estate straight line speed test with a bit of a difference.
Two cars here are the obvious new ways of going really, really fast while having space for, I don't know, some luggage or a dog or something. They're a Mercedes-AMG E63 S estate, and a Porsche Panamera Turbo S E-Hybrid Sport Turismo.

Fairness to and among
competitors is the goal of the PCRs.

| | The Drive—Do you hear it? Is it the sound of the air-cooled Porsche 911 bubble reaching maximum tensile resistance after nearly a decade of unstoppable price inflation? The bubble that’s pushed air-cooled Porsche 911 prices into the stratosphere finally appears to be ready to pop—or at least deflate. Based on recent auction results, air-cooleds could
finally be coming back down to reality.
|
Motor1—While brief, this spy video provides an amazing chance to hear the 992-generation of the Porsche 911 GT3 while it laps the Nürburgring. Judging by the sound, the reports are seemingly true that the new model might retain a naturally aspirated engine because there's no hint of a whistling turbo in this
clip.
| | |
Autocar—The new 911 Speedster’s heavily revised 4.0-litre flat-six engine will be carried over to future GT models as Porsche’s GT division persists with naturally aspirated engines.
|
| | Jalopnik—We’re all encouraged to have dreams, from around the time we have a vague understanding of what the word “dreams” means. While most of the people who encouraged us to have those dreams probably meant college or something, the roughly $300,000 2019 Porsche 911 Speedster definitely counts.
|
The Drive—The Porsche Cayman GTS and all-wheel drive Audi RS5 essentially need no explanation when it comes to performance—their lineage and proven street cred have that taken care of. But what happens when you throw a featherweight, hardcore Lotus Exige Cup 430 into the mix to see which is fastest?
| | |
Roadshow by CNET—The air-cooled engine was the stuff of legend, powering the Porsche 911 and VW Beetle (the real Beetle, not the ersatz New Beetle) to enduring fame in automotive history. And then it was gone.
|
Road & Track—Want an old Porsche race car, but don't want a 911? Well, you're in luck. This 904 GTS just popped up for sale in the Netherlands. It raced in period, including in the 1964 Spa 500 Km, finishing second in class. Now, it can be yours.
| | |
Motor1—Last week, the Porsche Cayman GT4 was seen around the Nurburgring making beautiful noises. It also lapped the Green Hell for its testing session and we could definitely see more of its skin than the previous spy shots.
|
| | Autoweek—Imagine this: You’re driving along in a caravan of high-end Porsche 911s and you’re in the Porsche du jour -- a 911 reimagined by Singer. Sure, you might not have all the modern tech of the latest 911 GT2 RS, but you’ve got something somehow even more special. Now also imagine overcooking a corner on the Tail of the Dragon and almost taking a trip
through the woods in said Singer. That’s probably not a good feeling and could easily be one of your life’s worst pucker moments.
|
| | Hagerty—"I fell in love with the Porsche 356,” Renee Brinkerhoff says. She was 57 years old, with no prior competition experience, when she started running her highly-modified, 914-powered, 152-horsepower 1956 Porsche 356 coupe in road-rally events. The car hasn’t always loved her back; it’s been in the weeds and in the shop as well as on the podium. But the two
have carried on in pursuit of Brinkerhoff’s personal goal: to compete on six continents.
|
Jalopnik—I will clarify at the start of this that I am, and always have been, a Porsche nerd. I love these cars, the community of enthusiasts they engender, and the history on display at the show colloquially known as “Luft”. Racing driver Patrick Long and master of artistic visuals Jeff Zwart, along with hundreds more
car owners, fixers, and background workers, have built a truly massive shift in car show culture with Luftgekühlt.

The Car Guide—Consumers who still prefer large luxury sedans over an SUV equivalent have plenty of choices. From eco-friendly cars to supersport cruise missiles, there is something for everyone and it’s sometimes hard to make a sound purchase decision. That’s why every year, the team over at The Car Guide publishes
its Best Buys.
