| | PCA—In 2018 Porsche marked its 70th anniversary, and one of the many ways the occasion was celebrated was with an exhibit called “The Porsche Effect” at the world-famous Petersen Automotive Museum. We filmed a timelapse of the de-install.

PCA—When my Porsche Cayman S was in for some work (including an odd rust spot on the front-left of the roof) the
dealership service manager asked if I wanted a Macan or a Panamera as my loaner. For me the choice was obvious, give me the Macan. I’ve driven the Panamera, and it is lovely, but I like small cars and the 2018 Macan, being 14 inches shorter, is my “Goldilocks” pick in the Porsche four-door lineup. Little did I know I’d be spending nearly a month with it.
| | PCA—In April of 2018, I wrote that the 997.2 base Carrera was a Porsche that we should all be shopping for. Shortly thereafter, I took my own advice and bought a Guards Red six-speed manual base coupe
for $36,000. It was advertised in The Mart and it had 62,000 miles on it. It wasn’t necessarily the color that I wanted, but the choices were relatively limited at the time, just two other cars on the East Coast.

PCA—As a parent, there are few things more important than seeing your child succeed at something!
This is especially true if they share your passion for a thing that they grew up watching you do. Since my son, Connor, was young, he was very much into cars. It wasn’t long before he had quite a collection of Hot Wheels and could always point out the different Porsches on the road.

| | PCA—Poised and at the ready, members waited for the stroke of 3:00 PM (EDT) and the much-anticipated registration opening for Treffen Vermont. This event, the seventh of its kind, launched in 2016 and has grown in popularity and experience with each Spring and Fall adventure. PCA members have embraced this driving, dining and exploring event from the California
Coast, to the Canadian Rockies. Each location and experience have been as unique as the resort that has hosted us.

Carfection via YouTube—Henry Catchpole compares the new 992 generation Porsche 911 Carrera S against the car he believes to be one of its closest rivals, the Lotus Evora GT410 Sport.
| | |
| | Top Gear—A pair of open 911s wouldn’t ordinarily be the enthusiast’s choice. But these are no ordinary open 911s. These are 911 Speedsters, and that makes them a purer, more athletic breed than your average Stuttgart tanning bed.
|
Road & Track—At the beginning of April, August Achleitner retired after 36 years at Porsche. He worked first at the chassis department, in the 1980s, then on packaging for the first-generation Boxster and 996-generation 911 in the 1990s. He helped bring the Carrera GT to life. But his most important role at Porsche
was as chief engineer for the 911, the car that defines the company.
| | |
| | Jalopnik—It is a rarified class of people who know what it’s like to roll up somewhere in a Porsche, but those very people, while fielding questions about how much their “Porsch” was, could also learn what it’s like for it to roll right on away—hence a new recall of nearly 100,000 cars.
|
Motor1—The Porsche 993, the internal designation for the last 911 generation with an air-cooled engine, is probably among the most valuable and most desirable versions of the iconic sports car. Its demise marked the end of an era – when sports cars were meant to be driven with passion and pride. It's the purists' holy
grail, so to speak.

| | The Drive—Rejoice, Porsche purists. In spite of plans to introduce a hybrid 911 and the Taycan electric car, battery power won't be coming to the brand's track-focused GT cars anytime soon.
|
Road & Track—Sabine Schmitz, German race car driver and Top Gear presenter, used to drive BMW's "Ring Taxi" in the early 2000s. The job entailed taking thrill-seeking passengers along for rides in a then-new E39-generation M5 around the Nurburgring as quickly as possible.

Motor1—The 1974 Porsche 911 Turbo 3.0 is the latest addition to the Lego Speed Champions line of kits, and at a price of $14.99, it's affordable enough for anyone to add it to their collection. The 180-piece model goes on sale on August 1.

Autoblog—At the 2019 New York International Auto Show, Porsche showcased two 911 Speedsters. A bright red version displayed the final production form, of which 1,948 units will be built, and a silver car with white graphics showed the concept that previewed the production model. Although the Speedsters' slick exterior
design captured guests' attention, the interior on the concept car was crafted with the Heritage Design Package, which Porsche just announced will inspire future limited-edition models and future option packs on upcoming 911 models.

Oversteer by Autotrader—Apparently, I'm the only water-cooled Porsche 911 Turbo owner in the world that never heard of its Achilles heel. I assumed the car I purchased last year was invincible, which — unlike the more fragile non-turbo 911 of the era — I thought it would be perfectly suited for regular track use. After
testing that theory, and gushing enough coolant to shut down my local track for 20 minutes, I now realize that I was very wrong.

| | Motor1—Wait, how is this a Porsche? It doesn’t even have the famous crest. Surely there must be a mistake here. But it’s not – Porsche Engineering Services developed this simple sedan with the Chinese market in mind.
|
Roadshow by CNET—Barring exceptions for antique vehicles and contraptions of that ilk (think Hagerty), car insurance is, for the most part, kind of a one-size-fits-all sort of industry. Creating insurance products tailored to specific brands hasn't really been explored all that much, which is why Porsche has decided to
take that route and offer its owners something unique and, above all, helpful.
|
Los Angeles Times—Porsche’s revised Cayenne Turbo pushes the vehicle further toward track-car territory and away from the soccer mom scene.
The all-new 2019 model, featuring a new engine, chassis, suspension, brakes and more, will now turn any Walmart parking lot into a lap at Willow Springs.
| | |
| | Motor1—Porsche continues to develop its many variants of the upcoming 911 Turbo, and this spy video catches the convertible version lapping the Nürburgring. This one is a little odd, though. It's not clear whether the driver just isn't pushing very hard or if the exhaust tuning keeps the engine very quiet. Regardless of the reason, the powerplant is
generally hard to hear over the tire noise from this test mule.
|
The Drive—Tuesdays suck. There, we said it. You're already exhausted from Monday's shenanigans and Friday afternoon feels as far as the next century. To make this miserable second day of the work week a bit more bearable here's 11 solid minutes of a Porsche 911 GT3 RS gently lapping an empty Watkins Glen
International.

| | Electrive—The Porsche Weissach Development Centre has put a new drive test centre into operation. The building combines 18 new test benches for conventional, hybrid and electric drives under one roof.
|
PCA—The rules and regulations set forth herein are the Parade Competition Rules, known as the PCRs. The purpose of the PCRs is to provide for the orderly conduct of all official and unofficial competitive events of the Porsche Parade and to make provisions for participant and spectator safety. Fairness to and among
competitors is the goal of the PCRs.

| | Roadshow by CNET—The Porsche 911 had the fewest reported problems of any car in the auto industry with a score of 58 problems per 100 vehicles.
|
Jalopnik—For years I’ve had a theory that the best bet in an endurance race over 12 hours is a nondescript white-liveried Porsche GT3. With anecdotal evidence continually proving my theory, I’ve seen any number of times that the race commentators continually gloss over said car, then in the final few hours it steadily
moves up the order as leaders conk. The Phoenix Racing Audi team laughed in the face of my theory by doing it in a nondescript white/blue/green/red V10 Audi rather than a Porsche.

Sportscar 365—Porsche’s new-generation 911 RSR will be launched at the Goodwood Festival of Speed next week, ahead of its expected on-track debut in the 2019-20 FIA World Endurance Championship season.
|
| | Motor1—Watch VideoAfter enabling the Porsche 911 GT2 RS to regain the title for the fastest street car at the Nürburgring, the talented folks over at Manthey-Racing then decided to work on the new 718 Cayman GT4 Clubsport. Already a hardcore track machine, the single-seater available in Trackday guise for amateur drivers and in Competition flavor for professional
racing has now gone through a series of upgrades with a focusing on shaving off excess weight.
