| | PCA—If the 2015 Zone 6 Grand Tour was a 4,700-mile marathon, this year’s 2,300-mile tour of Zone 6 will only be a half marathon. We started on a quiet Saturday morning at Griot’s Garage in Tacoma.

Motorweek—The Porsche 718 Cayman and Boxster have been nipping at the iconic 911's heels for some time now. Things get even more interesting with the new Cayman GT4 and 718 Spyder now that they're using a 4.0L naturally aspirated flat 6. We take our first drive on the race track in Scotland.
| | |
| | Motor Trend—My face hurts from smiling. My ears are ringing. My shoulders sore. Behind me, 2,358 horses tick cool in the mountain air. Grocery getter. Mall crawler. Chelsea tractor. Family hauler. These four Skittle-colored SUVs shouldn't exist. They're too big, too heavy, too powerful. Yet these stupid things—the 2020 Bentley Bentayga Speed, 2019 Jaguar F-Pace
SVR, 2019 Lamborghini Urus, and 2019 Porsche Cayenne Turbo—are among the best-driving SUVs on the road and among the most fun vehicles I've driven this year, period. And one of them is going to earn its way into the crucible that is Best Driver's Car.
|
Road & Track—Midnight. Atlanta, Georgia.
Camden raised an eyebrow. "Aren't we just making a 911 R?" Our car was a GT3 RS. The R is basically that minus a rear wing.
I had just unbolted our wing and packed it into the chase van.
I shrugged. "Sort of? But an RS is lighter and faster and whatnot. And now with janky cardboard Moon discs on the wheels!" Camden sighed.

| | Motor Trend—Porsche's GT model line director Andreas Preuninger calls the 2020 718 Cayman GT4 an evolution of the 981-series model. Technically, he's right, as there's much about the new mid-engine GT4 that's similar to the previous car. But let's take a look at some of the technical highlights that set it apart—and boost its
performance.
|
Motor Trend—This is it: the Cayman we've all been waiting for. The 2020 Porsche 718 Cayman GT4 emphatically delivers the dazzling performance, precision, and poise we've always believed possible of the company's mid-engine sports car. Porsche GT model line director Andreas Preuninger calls it an evolution of the
981-series GT4 that nearly took our Best Driver's Car title four years ago. Technically, he's right. But from behind the wheel, the 718 version feels, in every way, to be so much more than that.
| | |
| | Motor1—You can see some odd things at a traffic light like a next-gen Porsche 911 Targa sitting alongside the upcoming 911 Turbo Cabriolet. Neither of them the vehicles are wearing much camouflage, despite driving around on public roads.
|
Motorweek—When the Porsche Cayenne arrived in the US for 2003, it brought ashore a major dose of high performance unknown to SUVs of the time. Now the new 2020 Porsche Cayenne Coupe continues that tradition with added style and substance.

Motor1—Coupe SUVs, no matter how much you hate the term, have been gaining popularity these days. One of the latest entry to this new segment is the Porsche Cayenne Coupe. We've driven the turbo version before, and we couldn't say we're not impressed with the coupe SUV regardless of its steep price tag. In other words,
don't hate the car; hate the game.

| | Petrolicious—We enjoy any excuse to charge the camera batteries and pack a bag for a ride in our friends’ Porsches, and especially ones that involve full weekends spent in fast cars under the sublime skies of summertime. Earlier in the season—AKA before the brutal heat wave on the continent—we joined the Roughneck Brigade Porsche club for a jaunt across Hamburg called
TooCool2Cruise.
|
Motor1—The Porsche Cayman GT4 and 718 Spyder are probably the greatest gifts Porsche could give the true enthusiast. If you still know what a naturally aspirated engine is, or what to do with three pedals and thing in the middle (um, a manual gearbox). If you appreciate the sound of 8,000 RPM screaming behind your own
back, then it's perfectly alright if your saliva is dripping out of the corners of your mouth. Rejoice, dear purists. The Cayman GT4 and Boxster Spyder are back.

|
Autoblog—Although Ford CEO Jim Hackett has been criticized for being at times hyperbolic in his pronouncements, when he sat onstage in New York this morning, flanked on his right by Volkswagen CEO Dr. Herbert Diess and on his left by Argo AI CEO Bryan Salesky, and said that the auto industry is in the midst of “the
biggest shift in transportation” since the time of Henry Ford, there was absolutely no exaggeration.
|
Petrolicious—Dutch company Voitures Extravert has been hard at work developing its electric-powered 911, the Quintessenza. First revealed early last year in limited numbers (just five were built), it was met with such a positive reception that Voitures has decided to put it into slightly less limited production, and a
run of 36 cars is planned this time. Purists may balk at the idea of chopping up a rare ‘60s 911 so they can rest somewhat easier in the knowledge that the cars are actually based on 1980s models that are modified to look like their earlier counterparts.

| | Motor1—The Porsche 911 GT3 is back at the Nürburgring for more development. This video provides an amazing opportunity to hear its engine sing, and the sound is fantastic.
|
The Drive—Porsche’s eagerly awaited fully electric Taycan is tantalizingly close. Over the last year, Porsche has done its level best to tease, hint, and nearly unveil a production-ready car far ahead of its Frankfurt-bound première. And Porsche isn’t about to slow down its campaign of camo-less Taycans as another was
spotted slicing through California by one of The Drive’s avid readers.
| | |
| | The Drive—Knockhill Racing Circuit is a charming wee track in the middle of Scotland. It's 1.3 miles long with nine turns traversing the hilly land surrounding the eponymous, sheep-dotted Knockhill. The three mighty bridges crossing the Firth of Forth loom in the distance. The Porsche resident racing drivers on hand aptly describe the track as a roller
coaster – it's absolutely perfect for the 2020 Porsche 718 Cayman GT4.
|
Autoblog—If this drive were a video game, the difficulty setting would be rather high. Perhaps it's not quite Rainbow Road, but it's raining and the route, which is barely wide enough for two cars, is a meandering mix of blind dips and corners. Hedges line some of it, daunting rock walls other parts. And as this is
Scotland, there's the perpetual danger of errant sheep. Not to mention we’re tackling right-hand-drive roads in a left-hand drive car. Fun, right? Away we go in the 2020 Porsche 718 Spyder.
| | |
Car and Driver—Our next opportunity to check our watches against the reassuring, steady cadence of the 911 product cycle is coming. First come the Carrera coupes, then the cabrios, and then the 911 Turbos. Given that the ragtop just made its debut in March at the Geneva auto show, we won't have long to wait for the
brawniest 992-edition 911.
|
| | Road & Track—When it comes to driving on ice, patience is the name of the game, especially when it comes to Porsche 911s. With a lack of weight in the front and the engine in the back, getting it around turns requires serious precision. Tiff Needell found that out when he attended Tuthill Porsche's ice driving school a few years back for an episode of
Fifth Gear.
|
The Drive—The legendary Nardò Ring in Italy was reopened late last week after Porsche spent almost $40 million and seven months resurfacing and rejuvenating the place. Owned and operated by Porsche Engineering since 2012, the Nardò Technical Center's most distinctive feature is a 7.8-mile, circular, banked test track
that's visible from space.
| | |
| | Motor1—We’re about two months away from finally getting the complete lowdown on the 2020 Porsche Taycan, the automaker’s electric sedan. However, while the German automaker is close to pulling the cover off the final product along with dishing all the juicy, electrified details, Porsche is still wrapping up the car’s final testing. The latest Porsche Taycan
video shows the sedan yet again rocketing around the Nürburgring.
|
Forbes—There’s nothing unusual about taking a cab ride in New York. Aside from the subway, cabs have long been one of the most common ways to get around the city, although in recent years, cabs have increasingly given way ride-hailing. This weekend I used my phone to request a ride and was lucky enough to get a Porsche
but it didn’t come from Lyft or Uber. I climbed into the back of a 2020 Porsche Taycan prototype.
|
Roadshow by CNET—The Knockhill Racing Circuit is a 30-minute drive northwest from Edinburgh, Scotland, and is surrounded by sheep-filled grazing fields. Based on the surrounding countryside and track map, Knockhill doesn't seem like too much of a challenge, but romping around "Scotland's national motorsport center" in a
2020 Porsche Cayman GT4 proves otherwise. The 1.3-mile, 9-turn road course keeps you on your toes with tight turns and elevation changes. It's a serious race track best tackled in a serious track car. Thankfully, that's exactly what the new Cayman GT4 is.
| | |
| | Roadshow by CNET—Ah, summertime. With warmer temperatures and sunny skies, it's the perfect time of year for a new convertible like the 2020 Porsche 718 Spyder. Unless, of course, you're in Scotland, where rain and chilly temperatures constitute a typical summer. And as luck would have it, this gray, wet climate is exactly where I'll be testing Porsche's
latest droptop.

Road & Track—In case you somehow haven't heard, Porsche recently revealed its newest 718 Cayman GT4 and Boxster Spyder. In place of the turbo flat-fours sits a new 414-horsepower naturally aspirated flat-six, and it sounds lovely.
| | |
Jalopnik—Did your two “best friends” just get matching, brand new Porsche 911 Targa 4s in Night Blue Metallic and mysteriously leave you out of the bonding ritual? Maybe you’ll go out and get the exact same car! That’ll show them. Except, you won’t, because when Porsche sees your vehicle order, it will already be so
over it. Been there, done that.
|
| | Road & Track—Have you heard? The Porsche 935 is back for 2019, complete with the same iconic looks as the original, and packing a turbocharged flat-six engine. It sounds wonderful.
