| | PCA—This year’s Porsche Parade is taking place in Boca Raton, Florida, and though we’re near the southernmost tip of the state, an area known for its hot and humid weather, thus far it has proven more comfortable than many parts of North America due to a massive heat wave covering much of the Midwest and Northeast. We’re glad to be here right now to enjoy
mostly sunny weather, each other’s company, and a lot of Porsches.

PCA—A popular PCA member benefit is The Mart, the club’s classifieds section online and in each issue of Porsche Panorama. Mart Fresh is a bi-weekly column in which PCA media staff and guest
contributors pick what they think are the "freshest" Porsches currently available, and then attempt to explain their reasoning. Up this week are a 1967 912, 1998 Boxster, 1988 911 Carrera, and 2009 911 Carrera.
| | PCA—Join Porsche Cars North America and Porsche Club of America for the Porscheplatz at Road America, August 3 and 4, for the IMSA/Continental Road Race Showcase. The IMSA WeatherTech® SportsCar

| | PCA—This month we present the first installment of a Porsche-themed graphic novel called “The Spy Collector,” which we will serialize over the next several months; those who aren't members can read the first installment here. We also review the new sloping-roof “coupe” version of the Cayenne.
Read Editor Sass’s impressions in “Some Like It Hot.” If the coupe isn’t your thing, the base-model Cayenne has plenty of merits, as Tom Voelk points out in “Standard Deduction.” We also drove the 500-hp GT3 Touring in Savannah and explored its dual personality in “Good & Evil.” The Petersen Automotive Museum recently ran an exhibit celebrating 70 years of Porsche. See how they dismantled it in “The Load Out,” and be sure to watch the timelapse video. Longtime North Country Region member Jay Gratton grew up in his family’s 944, which his dad sold in 2000. Eighteen years later, Jay bought the car back, so it remains “All in the Family.”

Pirelli—Porsche owners are migrating south, but not for the winter. This southern migration of Porsche owners is for the 64th annual Porsche Parade, kicking off this weekend at the Boca Raton Resort & Club in Boca Raton, Florida. Pirelli will once again be supporting the Porsche Club of America’s annual parade by
sponsoring the Welcome Party to kick off the week’s festivities.

| | Hagerty—When Porsche aficionado and racing legend Jeff Zwart geeks out over a car, the rest of us should probably pay attention. The latest car Zwart is documented geeking out about is the Porsche Type 64—the premiere car headed to RM Sotheby’s auction block in just under a month.
|
PCA—At each Porsche Parade, sponsors are part of the festivities, competitions, activities, and banquets, and they also often have special offers for PCA members who are attending. Below you’ll find descriptions of the offers that will be
on hand, which we will continually update as they become available.

| | The Drive—Porsche is the pinnacle of performance and prestige for many enthusiasts, especially those who love history. From racing machines to truly special road cars, the Stuttgart manufacturer has long bred enviable models year after year with owners putting personalized touches on their pieces of perfectly crafted German metal. However, out of all the six- and even
seven-figure examples for sale on the market at any given moment, this homebuilt Baja-style Porsche 924S is undoubtedly the best option right now if you've got a hankering for slinging gravel and traversing rough terrain.
|
Road & Track—Way back in 2015, we saw the first test mule for the 2020 Corvette, a car GM denied for years. When we recently sat down with the people behind the mid-engine project, they confirmed that ute was indeed the mule and that it definitely still existed and ran. But Popular Mechanics got up close with the
Holden, and there's even more to it than we originally thought.

Automobile—Throw it into Sport Plus mode with the optional Sport Chrono Package and you’ll feel its air suspension drop the chassis into a crouch. The 2019 Porsche Cayenne Turbo is now poised and ready to launch. Stomp the pedal and push past 99 mph and the roof spoiler adjusts its angle of attack in order to help keep
all 5,090 pounds firmly planted to the pavement. This is a crossover that will take you anywhere—super fast—and will eat all manner of performance cars alive in a straight line. Even better, the latest Cayenne Turbo is also more than capable enough when the going gets rugged, with modes for Mud, Gravel, Sand, and Rocks.

| | Autoblog—For a lot of car enthusiasts, the way the stereo head unit looks is almost as important as the way it sounds. Especially with cars ranging from the late 1970s to the early 1990s, a too-new looking stereo can really jar, with ill-fitting nasty plastics and over-done flashy lighting standing out from the dashboard design. And if you keep the vintage
stereo, you can only really listen to radio, cassettes, or try to fiddle with a bluetooth adapter cassette that keeps getting spat out. CD head units don't even offer that option.

Road & Track—Last month, Porsche revealed the new 718 Cayman GT4 and Spyder, and the big news was the engine. Rather than tuning up the regular 718's turbo flat-four or detuning the 911 GT3's 4.0-liter naturally aspirated flat-six, Porsche Motorsport created a heavily modified version of the engine used in the new
911. That 3.0-liter flat-six was bored and stroked to 4.0 liters and lost its turbochargers for these new 718s. And this mill might find its way into more than the GT4 and Spyder.
| | |
| | Autoweek—Pick one: the Porsche 718 Cayman GT4 coupe or the 718 Spyder -- hardtop or soft top. You may never need another sports car again.
|
Automobile—It’s good to be royalty. Or in the case of Count Rossi, it was good to be royalty and heir to the massive Martini e Rossi vermouth fortune. If you haven’t guessed already, that’s the same “Martini” you often see adorning some of history’s greatest race cars. Count Rossi was the man behind this prolific
sponsorship, and as such, likely had access to some of the greatest roadgoing sportscars of the era.

| | PCARMARKET—What's Hot in Deal Tank?
The DEAL TANK features a great selection of highly desirable Porsche’s that are at seller ready prices. Potential buyers can see what a particular car was bid up to, view comments made during the auction, and ask questions globally on the auction thread. The DEAL TANK on PCARMARKET seems to have discovered a formula that car buyers and sellers have been looking for.

Hagerty—Porsche RS 60 chassis #718-044 has seen a few things. Fresh from the Porsche factory, it rolled straight onto the starting grid of the 1960 24 Hours of Le Mans. Across two continents and one chain of islands in 1961, this 718 carried the flag of Porsche Works to Sebring and Nürburgring and Bahamas Speed Week,
singing a glorious tune from its single rear exhaust beneath the hands of Dan Gurney, Jo Bonnier, and Graham Hill.
| | |
| | CarThrottle—Most petrolheads would probably part with a kidney in return for a mere drive in a Porsche Carrera GT, let alone the chance to own one. It’s old enough to be from a time when lots of manufacturers were still stuffing big, many-cylindered N/A engines in supercars, but not so far in the past that the chassis is past it.
|
Petrolicious—The Petersen Automotive Museum will be hosting an exhibition titled Uncompromising Design, which will showcase select examples of influential mid-engined Porsches across the marques 70-year history. “Uncompromised Design is a focused look into the legacy of Porsche’s most single-minded and advanced
performance cars,” said Petersen Automotive Museum executive director Terry L. Karges. “These cars helped to push back the boundaries of automotive performance, and we can’t wait to share their story with the public.”

| | SportsCar 365—Porsche and Acura held tight to the No. 1 spots in the GTLM and GTD manufacturer standings following the Lime Rock race weekend.
|
Autoblog—The 2020 Chevy Corvette Stingray in its base form offers an astonishing amount of performance for the money. In fact, so impressive is the car's spec sheet that the Corvette kind of exists in two different competitive sets: one of cars priced similarly, and another with cars of similar performance and
reputation.
|
Jalopnik—Porsche has been on a tear lately setting production car lap records in the 991.2 generation GT2 RS at tracks all over the world. The GT2 RS is incredibly fast, that much is obvious, but that’s a known quantity at this point. Beyond just the bragging rights for Porsche to say it has set records at the
Nurburgring, Road America, Road Atlanta, and now CTMP, does any of this actually mean anything to you?

Motor1—A new batch of spy photos reveals the next-gen Porsche 911 Turbo Cabriolet switching out its usual black roof for red fabric top. The bright color complements the vehicle's sporty aesthetic.
|
High Snobiety—Arthur Kar of L’art de l’automobile has a profound appreciation for car culture which dates back to his teenage years. When he was just 16, he began working on automobiles as a mechanic, while simultaneously falling in love with the NBA and MTV. Kar likens his obsession with Porsche in particular to
watching your favorite NBA player play in a specific pair of sneakers, then feeling the urge to go buy those same shoes.

Motor Trend—Ford and Volkswagen announced an extensive partnership earlier this year to co-develop products and boost economic efficiencies, without equity exchange or cross-ownership between the companies. Today, the automakers released more details of the collaboration, including work on electric and autonomous
vehicles. Keep reading to learn what we can expect from the Ford-VW partnership.
|
Inside EVs—British CAR Magazine surprisingly revealed expected specification and prices of the upcoming Porsche Taycan in an article that followed demo rides at the Goodwood Festival of Speed.
| | |
Motor1—It was about a month ago when Porsche introduced the 718 Cayman GT4 together with its Boxster Spyder sibling, and yet the company is willing to talk about an even more exciting model. In an interview with Australian magazine CarSales, boxer engine development manager, Markus Baumann, suggested the newly
developed 4.0-liter six-cylinder engine could produce more power without having to go down the turbocharging route.

Photo by Jackson Hardy. Sierra Nevada Region. "This is my 2001 Porsche Boxster S. This is my first Porsche and I cannot get
enough of it. It is a blast to drive. I bought the car with 43,000 miles last February, and since then I have replaced the top, powder coated the wheels gold, and made a few other personal modifications. This photo was taken on a nice drive to Virginia City."
