PCA—In June 2017, a new car show emerged from the sea of events that placed outsized importance on vehicles that were
usually at least half a century old. Radwood, as this new show was called, embraced a 1980s and 1990s theme, and, since its inception in San Francisco two years ago, has grown to include several events around the country. The latest took place on Saturday at New Jersey Motorsports Park, and PCA took part in the fun.
| | Road & Track—The Nurburgring's tourist sessions bring out all sorts of weird, wacky cars, but this one might take the cake. It's a Volkswagen T1 Bus that's been turned into a full-on track machine,
complete with a roll cage, racing buckets, and an air-cooled Porsche flat-six engine. This bus hauls.

PCA—Porsche Club of America will launch a new monthly email newsletter in June named Perfourmance News. The Newsletter will feature news, products, services, and information about Porsche Cayenne, Macan, Panamera, and Taycan vehicles — all Porsches with four doors. Perfourmance News will be emailed the third week each month. Click here to start receiving this free email when it begins in June.

| | Automobile—When it comes to outlaw-ifying Porsche 356s, there isn’t much Emory Motorsports hasn’t done to the diminutive little coupe. After all, visionary and head honcho Rod Emory is the progenitor of the 356 outlaw movement. We’ve enjoyed Emory’s impeccable 356 hot rods for years, but we’ve never seen anything quite like his newest creation: the 1960
Porsche 356 RSR.
|
| | Top Gear—Something unusual happened on the launch of the Toyota Supra in Spain a few weeks back. Tetsuya Tada, the Supra’s chief engineer, openly expressed his admiration for Porsche. This doesn’t happen. Representatives from one company scrupulously avoid talking about another’s product, let alone praise it. Yet here was Tada-san saying he admired Porsche’s
attention to detail, citing an instance where he knows they made a minute adjustment to the brake software, and openly saying he was disappointed Porsche had moved away from the flat six to the turbo four, but that the Cayman was still the only rival that mattered, the car they had benchmarked.

PCA—Treffen Vermont tour, activities, and pricing information is now available at the Treffen website. Make your plans to join us September 4-7, 2019 touring the Green Mountains. Registration opens Wednesday, June 19 at 3:00 PM EDT.

| | Car and Driver—In Greater Los Angeles, the BMW Z4 and the Porsche 718 Boxster attract as much attention as a Toyota Prius. Drive three hours north to Lake Isabella, though, and you might as well be rolling a gold-plated M1 Abrams tank through the town's ragged streets. People stare. They roll down their windows and want to know what they're seeing. They holler from
the liquor-store parking lot, or pull up shirtless in a car with mismatched all-season tires, tell you their life story, and challenge you to a $1000 race.
|
Road & Track—Just like how nine out of ten dentists would recommend the toothpaste brand that paid them accordingly, many experienced automotive journalists tell you that the only car you'll ever need is a Volkswagen Golf GTI. No luxury sedans, bloated SUVs, or sports cars. To beat them all with a single car, just
get a well-built, cautiously styled, practical five-seat hatchback with plenty of power, good handling, decent ride, and VW's straightforward infotainment system. Now, the only thing car journalists seem to agree more on is that any new Porsche 911 is as exciting and joyful as a tax cut for those who can afford a fully-loaded 911.
| | |
| | Road & Track—Ride with 24 Hours of Le Mans LMP2 class winner Jeroen Bleekemolen in the Team Penske Porsche RS Spyder that dominated its rivals during the American Le Mans Series' golden era from 2007-2008. Here, the Dutchman wheels the 3.4-liter V-8-powered prototype, owned by WeatherTech founder David MacNeil, around Laguna Seca during the 2015 edition of
Rennsport Reunion.
|
Roadshow by CNET—The world is not lacking for track-day toys right now and, as far as I'm concerned, that is a wonderful thing. On the (relatively) affordable side, you have machines like Mazda's MX-5 Cup car, which can be had for $58,000, ready to race. On the high end? Cars like the $1.2-million McLaren Senna GTR or
the $2.3-million Aston Martin Vulcan will do a very effective job of dominating your next local open track session while simultaneously depriving your heirs of their inheritance.
| | |
| | PCA—The popular Porsche show Werks Reunion will be headed back to the Corral de Tierra Country Club on August 16, 2019 near Laguna Seca Raceway, during Monterey Car Week. Porsche Club of America (PCA) welcomes all Porsche clubs, owners, and enthusiasts to join us at the fifth Werks Reunion in Monterey. Membership in PCA is not required to participate in this
celebration of Porsche automotive engineering. Expect to view a breathtaking array of Porsches at this free-to-spectators event, from rare classics to current models and everything in between. Display your own cherished car in model-specific Porsche Corrals or enter the Porsche Judged Field and compete to win in more than 20 prize categories.
|
Motor1—We've seen this before. A drag race where the drivers could feel the air combing through their hairs. It was a bit of a mismatch then, however, as the contenders were a McLaren 720 Spider, a BMW S1000RR superbike, and an Ariel Atom 4 lightweight sports car. We all know who won that one but this next roofless drag
race starts at a common ground.
The BMW Z4, the newest roadster in town, faces tough competition as the fastest roofless car with the Porsche Boxster GTS and Audi TT-S. Which of these three convertibles would you place your bet on?

Petrolicious—From its humble beginnings, this 1970 911 enjoyed a varied life, most notably as a rather tasty ‘73 RS replica. It was running well, and beating most-everything off the line around the New-South Wales area of Australia, right up until the 3.0 SC engine gave up with an expensive bang. However, what arose
from the ashes of that fateful incident was this, its final, most alluring, potent, primal form: a 3.8-liter (yes, 3.8!) RSR.

| | Motor1—The Porsche 718 Cayman GT4 has been spending quite a lot of time recently lapping the Nürburgring. A new spy video catches the track-focused coupe bellowing a mighty roar around the Nordschleife.
|
Road & Track—Up until 2014, Porsche offered the Cayenne GTS with a naturally aspirated V-8. The later cars didn't have a manual option like the earlier versions, but it still sounded wonderful.
| | |
| | Everyday Driver via YouTube—The Porsche 944 is beloved for its balance. The LS engine is beloved for its compact power and ability to go in nearly anything. Put them together and get this Porsche that is more than it appears.
|
Road & Track—Aside from a few more discreet test facilities throughout Europe, the Nürburgring and its surrounding roads remain the industry's favorite validating tool. This week, Bugatti, Bentley, Porsche, Mercedes, BMW, Audi, Volkswagen, Mini and McLaren all felt the need to have a go at the Green Hell's 73
corners with a wide range of prototype vehicles.
| | |
Autoweek—Another week, another Porsche 911 test car spotted at the Nurburgring. We've seen everything from Targas, to Turbos, to GT3 variants of the new 992-generation car getting exercised on the Green Hell, and now, it seems another trim has appeared.
|
Roadshow by CNET—Three months. That's about how long I think a new car feels really new, even if it's one of the best cars of 2019. Then it becomes an appliance like the last car. Subscribing to a car from Porsche, Volvo or Mercedes instead of buying or leasing may be the antidote, but does it make
sense?

PCA—The rules and regulations set forth herein are the Parade Competition Rules, known as the PCRs. The purpose of the PCRs is to provide for the orderly conduct of all official and unofficial competitive events of the Porsche Parade and to make provisions for participant and spectator safety. Fairness to and among
competitors is the goal of the PCRs.

| | Motor1—The 2020 Porsche Taycan is everything but a secret. The German automaker first revealed the 600-horsepower Mission E electric sedan to the masses four years ago. Since then, the automaker has changed its name, released countless teasers, and promised a lot. The car isn’t ready for primetime just yet as test mules and prototypes are still being spotted out in
the wild. The latest trio of videos gives us our closest look yet at Porsche’s electric sedan.
|
Autoweek—He had to work a bit harder for it on Sunday, but Roman De Angelis once again found his way to the top step of the Porsche GT3 Cup Challenge by Yokohama podium at the Canadian Grand Prix in Montreal.
| | |
Porsche—This September at the 2019 Frankfurt Motor Show, Porsche will unveil its highly anticipated all-electric Taycan. Based on numerous sets of spy shots, renderings, and the Mission E concept, we have an excellent overall idea what the production version will look like, at least from the outside. Interior details
are slightly vaguer but, generally speaking, it’ll closely resemble what’s found in the Mission E. The big mystery, however, is how will the Taycan drive?
|
| | Sportscar 365—Neel Jani will not return to the FIA World Endurance Championship in 2019-20 as the former 24 Hours of Le Mans winner shifts his entire focus to the ABB FIA Formula E Championship with Porsche’s new Formula E operation.
|
Sportscar 365—Porsche’s North American-based factory team is “more prepared” for its second outing at the 24 Hours of Le Mans according to team manager Michael Harvey, who is hoping to continue the team’s string of recent success from the IMSA WeatherTech SportsCar Championship.

Photo by Charlie Brown, III. Rally Sport Region. "Twelve of us Rally Sport Region members took a short
drive to the Yankee Air Museum in Ypsilanti, MI to take a thought on the YAM B-17G, the Yankee Lady. After the flight the YAM folks took great care to line us up for individual and group photos. This is my 1958 356A former SCCA E-Prod/Vintage race car that's now terrorizing the streets and Waterford HPDEs."
