| | PCA—The Porsche color palette reflected the conservative Reagan/Bush years of the 1980s. Once popular bright colors like Talbot Yellow, Arrow Blue, and Continental Orange went away early in the 911 SC run, replaced by far more muted shades. And so it stayed until the early 1990s when the 964/968/928 S4 lineup returned the option of some wilder shades to
Porsche buyers. But sadly, much like today, buyers largely ignored them.

EverydayDriver via YouTube—The GT2RS and 959 represent the top of Porsche's line-up, 30 years apart. We had the rare opportunity to drive them back to back in a comparison we've never seen and never thought we'd get to do.

Car and Driver—On its face, this grouping could be mistaken for an ordinary of-the- moment comparison test: four purposeful sports cars, each costing around $60,000 and capable of hitting 60 mph in roughly four seconds, all laser-focused on driving gratification. We'll admit that's how this story initially came
together. But our understanding of, and appreciation for, these machines swelled over three days of hustling them on spastic mountain roads. Even under the aura cast by 1500-year-old, 200-foot-tall sequoias, these four sports cars are timeless giants.

| | Road & Track—Why is it that every time I’m on a fabulous road without my portable missile launcher, I wind up stuck behind a Prius driving at walking speed? Car guys seem to universally hate hybrids, but hate for the technology is misplaced.
|
Jalopnik—The Porsche 911 Speedster turns anywhere it stops into a postcard scene. Looking at it is fun; sitting inside is spectacular. Then you step on the gas, and die, drowned in a sense of pure heroism and hedonism. It is nothing short of glorious and you’ll never forget it.

Car and Driver—From its first appearance four years ago, the Porsche Macan has established itself as a beacon of Porsche-ness in a sea of luxury compact-crossover mediocrity. With its responsive powertrains and sports-sedan-like handling, the Macan is what to drive when a 718 Cayman is too small—and that has earned this
Porsche several 10Best accolades over the years.
| | |
| | Jalopnik—After more than seven years of production, the Tesla Model S finally has another high-performance electric sedan to compete against: the 2020 Porsche Taycan. In Turbo S form, it’s a 750-horsepower all-wheel drive EV that can rocket from zero to 60 mph in 2.6 seconds. It isn’t perfect, but after driving it over 400 miles through Europe, I came away
more excited than ever about our electric future.
|
Autoweek—One of the more intriguing things about many electric vehicles is that, once you master regenerative braking -- which essentially uses a car’s motors as generators to convert its kinetic energy back into electricity -- you can effectively control forward motion just by modulating the accelerator pedal. Nail
this one-pedal driving technique, and emergency situations aside, you’ll probably be able to drive your commute without tapping the conventional brakes more than once or twice.
| | |
| | TheSmokingTire via YouTube—In this bonus little video, Matt demonstrates the coolest feature of the PDK gearbox as used in Porsche's 991 series GT cars. (and only the GT cars). With the stability control disabled, you can tug both paddles simultaneously to hold open the clutches for as long as you hold the paddles. The car then gives you open throttle and
the ability to "dump the clutch" when you let go of the paddles. Clutch kicking is pretty much the last argument against the automatic transmission, and Porsche has rebutted it fantastically.
|
Hagerty—Whenever McKeel Hagerty drives his 1967 Porsche 911S, an overwhelming sense of joy is accompanied by a flood of memories and emotions. The Porsche was his first car. He restored it with his father. It provided his first taste of freedom and adventure, and it now serves as a getaway car from the pressures of
everyday life. Nearly four decades after Hagerty’s CEO bought the dilapidated 911S as a project car, he still drives it on the same northern Michigan roads that he did as a teenager. He says he’d never sell it.
| | |
Car and Driver—You know you've made it when Jerry Seinfeld tags your Instagram account. Will Lee was folding his laundry on a Monday morning when that happened to him.
The account that captured Seinfeld's attention is "ptsrs," so named for Porsche's paint-to-sample option (which allows buyers to spec nearly any color they can dream up) and the brand's often used Rennsport suffix.
|
Road & Track—Engaging launch control in a Taycan Turbo S is simple. Call up Sport Plus mode, hold the brake with your left foot, floor the accelerator with your right. Release the brake and try to keep your neck steady. There's no pre-heating the battery, no fussing with traction control settings,
nothing.

| | Oversteer by Autotrader—I recently had the chance to drive the latest Porsche Macan SOpens a New Window., which is PorscheOpens a New Window.'s small luxury crossover that slots below the medium-sized CayenneOpens a New Window.. The Macan has long been heralded as the best small luxury crossover, but I've never reviewed it, so I wanted to see if I agreed.
Given that the Macan was just updated substantially for 2019, it seemed like a good time to find out.
|
Motor1—The 959 is one of our all-time favorite Porsche models. It was built in an era when sports cars were brutal, raw, and sometimes even too powerful for their own good. The twin-turbocharged 959 was among the most powerful production cars in the late 1980s and became the world’s fastest production car with a top
speed of 197 miles per hour (317 kilometers per hour). That’s just phenomenal for 1986, right?
| | |
| | Autoblog—The word "Sport" may be part of "SUV," and plenty of them claim to possess sporting credentials of some sort. Dynamic handling! 0- 60 in 5 seconds! That's all well and good, but few actually deliver a truly engaging driving experience that comes anywhere close to a sports sedan or sports car. The 2020 Porsche Cayenne, on the other hand, comes
extremely close, besting virtually every other SUV when it comes to being fun to drive. It also offers a diverse selection of models, powertrains and, for 2020, body styles, thanks to the new Cayenne Coupe. Inside, there's easy-to-use technology, sensational build quality and an endless array of customization options (the counter to that is Porsche nickel-and-dimes you a bit on features). So if you're looking for a true sport utility vehicle and you've got the money, the 2020 Cayenne is a very
good place to start.
|
Motor Trend—You're probably familiar with Hennessey Performance by now. The small tuning firm based out of Sealy, Texas, is responsible for some of the most incredible (read: ridiculous) powertrains in recent memory. John Hennessey and his team of tuners are responsible for cars like the 1,000-hp Chevy Camaro ZL1
Exorcist and the Hennessey Venom GT, but now they want to set their sights on something that doesn't have an engine at all. Hennessey has just announced that it's going to start tuning the all-electric Porsche Taycan.

Photo by Dustin Sallee. War Bonnet Region. "I’ve dreamed of owning a Porsche 911 for years, and after considering
the 997 and 993, I decided why not buy a 993 because the market values seem to be constantly increasing. So in September 2018 my 13-year-old daughter and I flew to Denver and I bought this 1997 Porsche 993 Carrera, and we drove it home after spending a day driving to Estes Park. It is everything I could ever dream of! It is such a pleasure to drive and it turns heads everywhere I go."
