| | PCA—Walter Röhrl, World Rally Champion and Porsche test driver, dispatches the corners of Knockhill as nonchalantly as a surgeon on a coffee break, even though this is his first time at the track. On top of that, he does it in a new car: the 718 Cayman GT4.

PCA—My wife and I loaded our 1982 911 SC Targa to the gills and set out from Reston, Virginia for a long-day of driving and a ferry crossing. Our mission was to attend the first Porsche Club of America Boardwalk Reunion in
Ocean City, New Jersey, which was hosted by Zones 1 and 2. This was the first long-mileage multi-hour run our 911, which has no power steering, anti-lock brakes, or air bags, and has 288,000 miles of enjoyment – thank you Stuttgart!

| | PCA—I’ve mentally specced out my next 911 SC in the vehicle configurator that doubles as my noggin. It needs to be a 1978 or a 1979. Why the first two years you ask? It’s the colors Duke, the colors. Simply put, early SCs (at least theoretically) came in some of the best colors that the G-body 911 ever wore.

Track—The warehouse at Benton Performance—a tuner and builder renowned for its work on vintage Porsches—burnt to ashes last week, taking with it a collection of rare parts and cars valued in the millions. Just one week on from the fire, the shop’s owner, John Benton, says it’s time to rebuild.

Petrolicious—Bart Kuykens has already given a lot of his time to Porsche 911s. He puts together multi-volume books about these cars and the people that own them with his own photographs, and he maintains, modifies, drives, and generally loves his own, a 1970 911T. The car featured in today’s film is Bart’s 911, but it’s also, as he describes, his ticket. To freedom, to a smile on his face
after a long day. A ticket to places where he can meet people who are similarly smitten with old air-cooled Porsches, whether those places be high in the Alps or in the corner of his local car meet parking lot.

& Track—There’s no good way to get from Los Angeles to Santa Rosa, CA. It’s 443 miles. You can fly, but the closest airport is still a 90-minute drive once you touch down. Even so, my broken spine’s cut off for flying is about 350 miles, but I don’t typically have a European-spec 2020 Porsche Boxster Spyder with an honest-to-god, 4.0-liter engine, do I?

| | Automobile—Porsche's new 992-series 911-lineup onslaught is now well underway. With deliveries ongoing for the 2020 911 Carrera S, 4S, and corresponding Cabriolet models, there is even more on the horizon. Non-S versions of those cars are arriving in early 2020, followed up by the ever-more gobsmacking Turbos, in the form of the 2020 911 Turbo S Coupe and Cabriolet. Expect Porsche to officially reveal the cars during the first quarter of 2020,
with examples arriving in customer hands late next year.

Jalopnik—It’s not always easy to let an employee go, even if you’re clearly a titan of industry. But if you suddenly discover a love for spirited driving when you bring home your new Porsche 928 S4, the chauffeur has got to go. Good thing you’ve got Charles around to handle things.

Jason Fenske of Engineering Explained put together an in-depth video explanation breaking down why the cheapest pads aren't worth going for. You should watch it.

Motor Trend—Familiarity breeds contempt: It's easy to dismiss the 2020 Porsche 911 as … just another 911. But look closer. This is as beautifully rendered a 911 as has ever been built.
The exterior design—its surfacing and detailing and proportion—is simply sublime. "I couldn't have done it better," said former Jaguar design chief and guest judge Ian Callum, a man no stranger to designing beautiful sports cars. The interior can look a bit dour unless you spend some money, but the focus is the driver. And the drive experience is tighter, tauter, and more communicative than ever.

| | Motor1—EVs have a clear advantage over cars powered by combustion engines in a drag race thanks to the instant torque delivered by the electric motors making them way quicker off the line. Torque is of greater importance when you’re dealing with a heavy vehicle such as an SUV, with the Porsche Cayenne and Tesla Model X being two relevant examples.

Roadshow by CNET—The Porsche 718 Spyder is expensive, and its convertible top is kind of a pain in the ass to operate. With that out of the way, let me tell you about one of the finest sports cars I've ever driven, the Porsche 718 Spyder.

Gear—A new Porsche drop-top?
An old Porsche drop-top. It’s a 2019 car, but it’s the outgoing generation of 911 rather than the spangly new 992 version. This 911 Speedster is effectively the 991’s run-out special, with 1,948 being produced for a smidge over £211,000 apiece.

Sportscar365—AF Corse’s No. 51 Ferrari 488 GTE Evo has been disqualified from Sunday’s 4 Hours of Shanghai, losing James Calado and Alessandro Pier Guidi’s GTE-Pro class win.
The car’s ground clearance on the car’s front-left was found to be lower than the required 50 mm in post-race scrutineering.
