PCA—1968 was a tumultuous year any way you looked at it. For Porsche, simply selling cars in the U.S. represented a challenge. Emission control laws came into effect, and dodgier manufacturers such as Alfa Romeo skipped the
model year entirely. The addition of air pumps across the Porsche lineup played hell with driveability and cost U.S. enthusiasts the 911S for one model year. At least the colors were top-notch.

this, PCA members Eric and Amity Peterson decided to help share some fun with the young people facing these difficult health-related challenges. Their goal was to “create joy” for children in Oregon and Southwest Washington who are going through a tough time.

& Track—The 906 Carrera 6 is one of the rarest Porsches out there. The company built just 65 examples. Thankfully, there's still at least one out there still hitting the track.
The Belgian-Motorsport YouTube channel caught this one stretching its legs at a historics event at Monza back in September. Behind the cabin sits a 2.0-liter flat-six making 220 horsepower. That doesn't sound like much, we know, but with a car this light, that's plenty.

| | Autoweek—The inevitable comparisons between the 911 and new midengine Corvette are certain to come, and in short order. This longstanding debate will be more fierce now that both have engines behind the driver. I recently jumped at the chance to drive the latest eighth-generation Corvette, the C8, and, in many ways, I was wowed by the performance. But it felt nothing like a 911. Just to be sure, I also jumped at another chance to drive the new
992-generation Porsche 911.

Motorweek—Extended time in this 2019 Porsche Macan S has confirmed something entirely; that it’s a 911 5-door hatchback with some added ground clearance.
Yea OK, we know that’s not technically true, as it shares a lot more with Audi’s utilities than the 911; but it sure feels like their iconic sport coupe when you’re behind the wheel.

| | Motor1—When it comes to Porsche’s greatest hits it’s all too easy to forget about the transaxle cars that helped keep the brand alive. To honor Porsche's often overlooked front-engined rear-transmission heroes Porsche released a video on their YouTube channel to name its top 5 favorites.

Oversteer by Autotrader—Car enthusiasts have a lot of opinions that confound me, and one of the most prominent is the seemingly common opinion that the original, first-generation Porsche Panamera is a very ugly car. From what I've gathered, people who like cars are pretty accepting of the current second-gen model and see it as a big aesthetic improvement over its predecessor. Am I the only one
who thinks they're both pretty good-looking cars that don't even look that different?

Gear—Porsche is close to a decision on making a ground-up all-electric car that will eventually replace the 718.
Porsche’s CEO Oliver Blume told Top Gear: “In all our segments – saloons, SUVs and two-door sports cars – we are looking at having combustion, hybrid and electric.”
|
Autoweek—What is it: The Cayenne Turbo is a premium SUV with more power than a Ford Mustang GT350 and a price tag that would buy you two of them. The Turbo is the top of the Cayenne line, above the base, E-Hybrid and S. If you think about it more broadly, it does come in underneath the Bentley Bentayga and Lamborghini Urus, both of which are built on the same platform.

Motor1—We don’t know how many Porsche owners venture into the cold with their 911, never mind one with a removable roof. Honestly, we hope more people have a go in the snow than not, because cars were meant to be driven and winter driving can be rewarding in its own way. Regardless, Porsche needs to make sure its roofless models are prepared for all weather conditions, which is why we see the
forthcoming 911 Targa tackling snowbound roads north of the Arctic Circle.
|
| | Oversteer by Autotrader—I recently had the chance to drive the new 2020 Porsche 911 Speedster, which is the swan song of the "991" generation of the Porsche 911. By that, I mean that it's the very last 991 model -- the end of the line, after nine years in production. It's also the very best version.
|
CarThrottle—Check out this extremely promising shooting brake custom build based on an early Porsche Boxster. Yes yes, we know it makes less sense than a duck riding a Jet Ski, but we love the idea. Plus, if it had have been based on a Cayman, they would have had to have taken the existing metal roof and pillars off; the Boxster was a cleaner slate with which to start.

| | Roadshow by CNET—Automotive modification is gearing up for an evolution. I know, because I've already driven it.
Recently, I found myself behind the wheel of a 2013 Porsche 911 Carrera equipped with Vonnen Performance's Shadow Drive aftermarket hybrid system. It totally blew my mind.
|
Autoweek—I haven't seen a Porsche 911 of any sort in a self-service wrecking yard since the middle 2000s, but I do run across 914s, 924s, 928s, the occasional Boxster and, of course, 944s during my junkyard travels. A 944 in good condition, particularly one with a new timing belt and/or clutch, sells for respectable money these days ... but a rough 944 with a lot of hard miles tends to scare
away Porsche shoppers.

& Track—The day ran on forever, 16 long hours of sunlight. Early June in Gotland, Sweden, is a treat that way, recompense for the dark winter months. The island’s 60,000 permanent residents refuse to waste a second of it. They bathe in the daylight, turn their faces to the sun, close their eyes, breathe it in. Over the summer, the place will flood with some 1.6 million tourists, but that was a few weeks away. For the moment, it was just the locals, an empty race circuit, and us in
the 670-hp Porsche Cayenne Turbo S E-Hybrid, now the fastest production Cayenne in existence.

Motor1—A gray car is not particularly exciting to look at (unless it's a Nardo Gray R8), and neither is an SUV trying hard to look like a coupe. Porsche is trying to kill two birds with one stone by allowing its bespoke division to work on a gray Cayenne Turbo S E-Hybrid Coupe and inject some pizzazz for those willing to pay the premium. The base version of the electrified performance SUV kicks
off at $164,400, but this will cost you a lot more given the add-ons applied by Porsche Exclusive Manufaktur.

| | Car and
Driver—The spy protagonist of a movie has to drive a hot car—that has been true since at least the first James Bond movie. That spy driving an electric vehicle may seem more like a punchline than the exciting part of the plot. But in Playmobil: The Movie, the Porsche Mission E, the concept version of the Porsche Taycan, assumes the role as the car of secret agent Rex Dasher. The fact that Dasher is made out of plastic is beside the point. Besides, even James Bond has had an electric
car.
