| | PCA—Yesterday Porsche announced it’s adding a GTS variant to the Macan lineup, which means it will slot in between the S and Turbo with a 375-horsepower 2.9-liter twin-turbo V6, get unique styling tweaks, and have sport seats and a bunch of standard equipment.

PCA—After six weeks of collaboration, a team of Lucasfilm and Porsche designers unveiled a new Star Wars spaceship, the Tri-Wing S-91x Pegasus Starfighter, which combines elements from the Porsche Taycan EV sedan and 911 sports
car with traditional spaceship design language from the Star Wars cinematic universe.

nameplate in terms of resale. Kelley Blue Book recently announced that it has retained its top-ten spot for 2019. So, what does that mean for anyone looking to add one to their garage, perhaps supplementing their Porsche sports car?

| | PCA—In a twist on the car magazine road trip story, Editor Sass picked up a brand-new 992 in Germany and then flew with it on a cargo plane to Ohio before driving to Porsche HQ in Atlanta. Enjoy the epic adventure story "992? 747? Whatever it Takes." Going strong for 21 years, the Rocky Mountain Region Ladies’ day is a special women-only track day. Read all about these “Pretty. Fast. Women.” We can’t get enough of special-edition Porsches,
including two 914 LEs we saw at Amelia Island. Find out more about this “Rare Pair.” One typically equates the Yukon Territory with big trucks, not Porsches, but PCA member Al Courtney discovered an abandoned 1971 911S “At the Crossroads” and has been driving it ever since. We also interview Porsche Motorsport North America CEO Daniel Armbruster, whose refreshing philosophy is quite simply, “It’s About Fun.”
“The Spy Collector” continues its tale of automotive intrigue, and we offer a preview of Parade 2020, plus the usual tech, news, and race reports.

PCA—Porsche Club of America members provide community contributions in all shapes and sizes. But easily one of the largest was the First Settlers Region building a home for a family in need.
Ten years ago, the First Settlers Region started a charity program and were proud to raise $6,000 for local charities. Then five years later Josie Grandfield, Region Charity Chairperson, had an idea to do something big, something that would make a lasting impact in the community and would directly involve lots of Region members … build a house for a worthy Chesapeake, Virginia family.
The First Settlers Region’s journey began with learning everything they could about the Habitat for Humanity program including the family approval process, government oversight of the Department of Housing and Urban Development, how the financial donation would be “protected” and how the members’ involvement would be critical to the successful completion of the house.

& Track—The EPA released its 2020 model-year fuel economy estimates today, and among the figures released were those for Porsche's new electric sedan, the Taycan Turbo. The $153,000 car received a total range estimate of just 201 miles, with a combined per-mile rating of 69 MPGe.

Motor1—You may have heard that the EPA’s official range rating for the Porsche Taycan Turbo is a bit on the low side. In fact, it came back at just 201 miles, which is far cry from the Euro-spec WLTP rating of 279 miles. It even dips below conservative estimates for the U.S. that placed the EV super sedan in the 212 to 250-mile range. The plot thickens even further, as Porsche actually
commissioned an independent test to gauge the Taycan Turbo’s real-world range. As you might expect, those figures are considerably higher than the EPA rating.

Autoweek—“Good job, I’m still in one piece!” So said Hurley Haywood, my passenger for a drive in the 918 Spyder up California’s Pacific Coast Highway. Yes, those combination of things did happen. Yes, I did say Hurley Haywood was the passenger. And, definitely yes, I did pinch myself afterward to make sure it actually happened, because holy scheisse, that was amazing!

PCA—In the 1980s, when the Berlin Wall still partitioned east from west, the local Region of PCA — yes, there really was such a thing — assembled 20 Porsches for a tour of the city’s Soviet sector. Roadshow by CNET—The level of grip is almost frustratingly high. With gobs of torque being shuffled between all four wheels, and said wheels wrapped in sophisticated, studded snow tires, it's surprisingly hard to get the Porsche Tacyan 4S to break its back end loose -- even on a super-slick surface like the frozen lake I'm driving across in northern Finland.

Electrek—Porsche had emerged as the favourite for victory in the 8 Hours of Bahrain after it locked out the front row of the grid, the #91 911 RSR-19 of Gianmaria Bruni and Richard Lietz claiming pole from the sister #92 machine of Estre and Michael Christensen.
| | |
Motor1—It has only been months since the Taycan has seen the light of day. With its first full-electric vehicle out and about, it seems like Porsche is gearing up for its next steps towards future mobility, and that includes self-driving.
| | |
Autoblog—Porsche has taken down payments from 30,000 customers in Europe for its Taycan, the luxury car maker's first fully electric model, CEO Oliver Blume told Germany's Handelsblatt newspaper. These customers have made down payments of 2,500 euros each and 10,000 of them have already placed a firm order to buy a Taycan, Blume said, adding that this number exceeded the company's
expectations.
|
| | Autoweek—The Environmental Protection Agency released its numbers for Porsche’s Taycan Turbo EV, saying it has a 201-mile range and gets 69 MPGe. The internet is jammed with stories about the EPA’s findings, many saying the numbers are “terrible,” “disappointing,” and that the company is in “damage control.”
|
Motor1—No, this is not a Porsche Panamera Sport Turismo. The squared-off headlamps should be an obvious clue that this is the all-electric Taycan with a bit more junk in the trunk, better known as the Cross Turismo. There are some very interesting photos in this latest spy shot collection, and we aren’t just talking about the cool head-on lens-flare shot that would be right at home in a J.J.
Abrams film. Catching the EV wagon in profile, we see the heavy camouflage coverings at the rear are gone.
