PCA—There was a palpable sense of excitement in the air as the sun tried to burn off the early
| | morning fog, which kept wafting through the valley and obscuring the view down two fairways of Porsches at Werks Reunion Monterey. Eventually the sun prevailed at Corral de Tierra Country Club, and by mid-morning 650 registered Porsches were in full view. This was the largest Werks Reunion yet, with thousands of spectators joining this celebration of Porsche.

PCA—A popular PCA member benefit is The Mart, the club’s classifieds section online and in each issue of Porsche Panorama. Mart Fresh is a bi-weekly column in which PCA media staff and guest
contributors pick what they think are the "freshest" Porsches currently available, and then attempt to explain their reasoning. Up this week are a 2012 Cayman R, 2013 Cayenne Diesel, 2000 911 Carrera 4 Millennium, and 1965 356.
| | PCA—William Levesque of Rennsport Region took first place at the PCA Sim Racing Series II race at Laguna Seca Raceway, followed by Gresham Wagner of First Settlers Region in second, and John Koch of
Chicago Region in third. Congratulations to the podium finishers! Watch round two live this Friday night as over 50 PCA members battle for championship points at Road America.

| | PCA—Later this month, a significant piece of Porsche history goes up for auction. We have the rare chance to drive the legendary 1939 Type 64 in “Ground Zero.” Editor Rob Sass drives the highly anticipated, normally aspirated, six-cylinder 718 Cayman GT4 and 718 Spyder, due to go on sale in spring 2020. Read about them in “Top of the Line.” Dr. Arthur
Ashman helped save the life of a member of the Porsche family in early 1962, which led to a meeting with Butzi Porsche and later a 1964 356 SC sunroof coupe, "Butzi's Car," which he still drives. Excellence was Expected is considered the definitive history of Porsche. On the release of its third edition, we profile author Karl Ludvigsen in “Excellence: Expected and Delivered." Ceileidh Siegel is a director at Hasbro, but she was playing for keeps when she found her dream Porsche and drove it
across the country in 72 hours in “MINE-11.”
All that, plus a new chapter in “The Spy Collector," and Porsche’s new 911 RSR is revealed at Goodwood.

Motor Trend—The 1939 Porsche Type 64 was one of Dr. Ferdinand Porsche's early experimental vehicles, and yesterday, it was one of the star auction cars during 2019 Monterey Car Week. Projected to sell in the neighborhood of $20 million by auction house RM Sotheby's, the one-off prototype was the victim of mistaken bids
during the third and final evening of the sale, ultimately failing to sell at a high bid of $17 million.

Roadshow by CNET—Everything that Porsche builds has some kind of sporting pretenses as well as a serious commitment to build quality. To see if its first fully-battery electric vehicle, the Taycan, can live up to Porsche buyers' expectations, the company decided to take it to the Nardo test track in Italy and run it
until it broke.

| | Evo via YouTube—The new Porsche 911 Carrera S is a 911 of contrasts. It delivers a considerable step up in performance, technology, refinement and usability but has it come at the cost of those core 911 characteristics that have made it such an icon? Steve Sutcliffe heads to Anglesey circuit to get under its skin and to see how fast it
is.
|
Autoblog—Recently, Porsche invited Autoblog to witness its semi-annual “moving day”, where the cars in its museum are swapped out for a new display. That was fun and all, but Porsche knows we love nothing more than to slide cars around — so they invited us to try out their facility in a 911 Turbo S and a 911
GT3.

| | What a great time we had at the Werks Reunion in Salinas, CA. In addition to the incredible selection of cars on display, it was wonderful to get to know many of you and hear your Porsche stories. We learned how many of you use PCARMARKET on a daily basis to browse the listings and investigate market trends by viewing our completed auction section. We were also inspired by how many of you use DealTank on a regular
basis to look for your next Porsche. The photo to the left is a sample of what auctions are ending soon on PCARMARKET. Please consider selling your Porsche on PCARMARKET because… The World is Watching. Visit PcarMarket.com

| | Motor Trend—We all know Porsche is capable of building powerful, naturally aspirated screamers like the 520-hp engine in the GT3 RS. And Porsche engineers have demonstrated plenty of forced-induction proficiency with the twin-turbo flat-six in the 690-hp GT2 RS. Our question has to do with the turbocharged, water-cooled lump sitting over the rear axle of
the new 992-generation 911 Carrera S; how much power is it really making?
|
Auto Express via YouTube—Most sportscar manufacturers go to great lengths to ensure that their latest performance offerings are as light and nimble as possible… yet ever-larger physical dimensions, heavy and complex mechanical components, as well as strict safety regulations, mean that even the lightest modern
sportscars rarely dip below the 3500-pound mark. For true lightweight sportscars, you need to travel back over 50 years to a time when cars like the Porsche 356 often had curb weights that were less than half that number.

| | Car and Driver—Imagine life as a sock, sweaty and gross one minute and then thrown around in the wash the next. Driving a race car is a lot like being a sock.
|
Motor1—People have strong opinions about Porsche. “You need this trim, not that trim. It’s not a real Porsche with that engine. How could you possibly get that body style?” But here’s a dirty secret: a base Porsche is still a Porsche.

| | Classic Cars Journal—OK, all of you gloom-and-doomers out there in collector car world, meet Eric Taylor and Austin Kerby. In 2015 — and each of them only 20 years of age at the time — each bought a Porsche 911 SC, cars produced around 15 years before either of them were born.
|
Motor1—We’ve seen more than a few classic Porsche 911 Carrera safari conversions. And we’ve seen one adventurous individual install a rooftop tent on a 996 Carrera 4S. Kelly-Moss Road and Race in Wisconsin have since accomplished that which we’ve been patiently waiting for – a proper safari 911 with provisions for
rooftop camping. However, as you’ve no doubt seen by the epic Porsche-on-Porsche photo gracing the top of the article, this car is so much more than that. So. Much. More.

Autoblog—Every six or so months, Porsche’s Atlanta HQ and Experience Center swaps out the cars it has on display at its Heritage Gallery. Since the beginning of 2019, this beautiful room has served as a tribute to Brumos, “America’s Porsche Team”. Accordingly, the room was filled with red, white and blue — more
specifically, the Brumos livery of white cars with red and blue “sweeps.” Those are racing stripes, to those of us who aren’t steeped in Porsche racing history.

| | Motor1—In a new video, CarWow stages a four-way drag race and other tests for a tuned Alpine A110, Audi TT RS, Porsche 718 Cayman GTS, and Toyota Supra. As only a semi-European with its BMW-sourced drivetrain but Japanese tuning, the Supra is the odd machine of the group. See how it performs against the rivals.

Roadshow by CNET—Over the past year we've slowly been learning about Porsche's new Taycan EV. We've heard about the development of new production processes and charging options for the company's first fully electric car. We also rode shotgun in a pre-production vehicle on a frozen lake in Sweden. But at a media event in
Atlanta, Georgia, this week, Porsche told us something we didn't know: When the Taycan goes on sale at the end of the year, it'll be the first vehicle to feature full integration of Apple Music.

| | Autoblog—The beauty about BringATrailer is that it has all sorts of automobiles up for sale and bidding, at all ends of the spectrum. This 1987 Porsche 962 IMSA GTP race car definitely falls on the upper end of that spectrum, and it just might be the second most expensive car ever to sell on the site.
|
Motor1—Several batches of spy shots have revealed Porsche is preparing a minor mid-cycle refresh for the Panamera lineup, but this new set of images hints at a more important change for the hatchback, at least. Caught doing its thing at the Nürburgring gym, this prototype might look like your typical Panamera in the
spicy Turbo flavor, but there are some changes at the front and rear suggesting it’s a hotter variant.

Motorious—My dad's older brother, Uncle Freddy, was handsome, six foot three, and utterly charming. Always superbly dressed, he had an unbridled passion for fast cars and beautiful women. When he was a student at the Sorbonne in Paris, the considerable sums he received for higher education from my well-to-do grandfather
were quickly converted into a Bugatti and a lavish apartment. I doubt Uncle Freddy ever attended a class, and he never really worked. He might have served as the inspiration for Michael Caine’s Dirty Rotten Scoundrels, a movie about a handsome con man who skillfully separates wealthy women from their money. His automotive tastes spanned beyond that Bugatti—Alfa Romeos, a coachbuilt 4.0-liter Delahaye coupe, and an immense Packard Custom Super Eight convertible. A consummate car guy but with a
moral compass that rarely found true north. Later in life, I met quite a few “Uncle Freddys”—passionate, intelligent men who were easy to like but prone to taking shortcuts.
|
Car and Driver—Porsche has finally given us a 718 Cayman with six cylinders and no turbo. I’m no fan of the German company’s turbocharged four-hole engine, so it’s particularly good news as far as I’m concerned. Plus, the new 718 Cayman GT4 only comes with a six-speed manual, at least for now. Excellent. And those who
want a convertible mid-engine Porsche with a worthwhile engine can buy the new 718 Boxster Spyder. More good news. But I’m a coupe guy. I’d mostly use the top-spec 718 Cayman on the street, but I’d still play with it at the track, just as Porsche intends many to do. Here’s how I’d spec it.
| | |
Road & Track—We've seen a handful of videos pop up recently of the next-generation Porsche 911 GT3 testing on the Nurburgring so far. But we have yet to see a wingless Touring variant test mule on the Green Hell—until now, that is.
