| | PCA—Electric vehicles normally struggle to keep horsepower levels constant and batteries fresh during extended periods of hard driving, but Porsche seems to have assuaged those traits with the Porsche Taycan, which just completed the 12.8-mile Nürburgring-Nordschleife in seven minutes and 42 seconds.

|
PCA—Porsche just unveiled the forthcoming Taycan EV’s interior in a press release, and while Porsche says it was inspired by the interior of the earliest of 911s, there’ll be almost nothing analog about
it — no need for a tachometer in this sedan. Instead drivers and passengers will be treated to a mix of touch screens, touch panels, and more sustainable materials in certain configurations.
| | PCA—I’ve often said that gentlemen’s agreements are only valid if both men are gentlemen, and if not, all bets are off. The same goes with buying cars based on pictures: It all depends on how honest the
person selling the car is. If said person is honest, the pictures will reflect that, but if they are up to no good, there are a million ways to make a car look better than it really is.

Autoblog—Towering among his peers, a giant of the auto industry died Sunday night in Rosenheim/Upper Bavaria, Germany. Ferdinand Piëch, a grandson of Ferdinand Porsche, who conceived the original Volkswagen in the 1930s, was the most polarizing automotive executive of our times. And one who brought automotive technology
further than anyone else.
Right: Ferdinand Piëch can be seen in the white, short-sleeved collared shirt standing behind Ferdinand "Ferry" Porsche, who is closest to the camera. This was the development team of the original Porsche 911. Photo courtesy Porsche

| | Car and Driver—With SUVs of all sizes and types outselling Corona on Taco Tuesdays, it's easy to forget how relatively young so many of them are. When Mercedes launched the proto-GLE, the M-class, in 1997, SUVs were still mostly Ford Explorers and Jeep Grand Cherokees. The luxury class in particular was so infantile that the first M had a ladder frame.
Twenty years later, there's been such baffling diversification of the SUV species that all four vehicles seen here now have "coupe" siblings that are mechanically identical but intentionally less practical. It's a style statement made into a, um, style statement.
|
| | The Drive—While Bring a Trailer is known for selling some of the most unique and interesting automobiles on the market, this recent listing is even rarer. It's a 1955 Porsche Type 547/1 Fuhrmann Four-Cam, which was bid to $220,000—or about as much as a well-equipped 911 GT3 RS—and didn’t sell.

Hagerty—There’s an overwhelming contingent of hot cars on cool greens during Monterey Car Week. As a spectator, every show is more overwhelming than the next. If you’re looking to distill your tastes and focus on one marque, however, look no further than the Werks Reunion. A little more structured than Concours d’Lemons
but a whole lot looser than the Pebble Beach Concours, this Porsche-only car show brings together a throng of gearheads looking to spend some time with Stuttgart’s finest.

| | Road & Track—The first iteration of Porsche's mid-engine 904 Carrera GTS race car used a flat-four sending power to the rear wheels. In addition to looking fantastic, it makes a lovely noise.
|
Motorweek via YouTube—The mid-engined Porsche 718 Cayman and Boxster may not bask in the iconic sports car glory of their 911 brethren, but they make a strong case for themselves as being first-rate drivers cars. And with the debut of the 2020 718 Cayman GT4 and 718 Spyder, they become legitimate track stars
too.

| | Car and Driver—If you've ever wondered how much more of a challenge it is to race on gravel instead of a smooth, paved surface, Porsche has an answer for you. The German automaker has just released an unedited, no-frills onboard video of the Cayenne Turbo S E-Hybrid setting a record lap around the still-under-construction Swedish Gotland Ring. That part
about the track not yet being done means you get to see just how much harder the driver is working just to keep the car between the lines.
|
Motor1—So, this might be one of the most one-sided drag races and set of comparison tests we've seen from the guys at carwow for quite some time now. Oh, the one with the Jimny racing other SUVs with four to five times more horsepower doesn't count. But for those who were always wondering what the Porsche
Boxster GTS can do against its bigger brother (in every sense), the Porsche 911 Carrera 4S, wonder no more after watching the quick video above.

| | Autoblog—For about a year now, spy shooters and 'Ring watchers have been trying to figure out if a certain prototype 992-series Porsche 911 is a GT3 Touring model. No one's come to a definite answer, but evidence seems to be leaning in favor of a GT3 Touring return. The circumstantial case comes from the wide open front intake, aero vents in the front hood,
the big brakes, center-lock wheels, wider haunches and standard Carrera rear wing, center-mount exhaust tips, the clearly naturally-aspirated engines and, on this latest occasion, shift times slow enough to come from a manual transmission.

Motor Trend—Colored seat belts. That's what caught my eye in the avalanche of C8 Corvette coverage we rolled out on MotorTrend.com last month. Depending on which interior theme you select for your new C8, you can choose seat belts in one of six colors, from basic black to red, yellow, orange, blue, and tan. Hallelujah!
I thought. GM is thinking like Porsche. And this is a good thing.
|
| | Motorweek via YouTube—This week we added a new long term test car to our fleet: the 2019 Porsche Macan S.
Ours uses the 348 horsepower turbocharged V6 and includes the optional Sport Chrono Package.
|
Motor1—If you’re a regular Motor1.com visitor and you have an appetite for spy shots, you’re probably already familiar with the Panamera Turbo prototype carrying a license plate ending in “710.” The adjacent video shot at the Green Hell shows the very same test vehicle in action, together with several other
cars going flat out (and even sideways a bit) on the Nordschleife’s tarmac.

Lockton Motorsports—Do you share your car at the track? Whether you share your car with your best friend, sibling, significant other or teammate, Lockton Motorsports has the coverage you need to protect your vehicle, even when multiple people drive it.
With a DE Insurance policy from Lockton Motorsports, two drivers are automatically covered at each event at no additional cost. This means you don’t have to buy a second policy to cover your car while your partner is driving. Coverage also extends for your instructor and any demonstration laps they do at the track.

| | Autoweek—Two years after the debut of the Panamera Turbo S E-Hybrid, perhaps Porsche fans should not be surprised when the most powerful Cayenne in the range borrows the same formula. That formula was inspired by the 918 Spyder, of course, and here it pairs the top turbo engine in the range with a plug-in hybrid system to produce hair-raising
performance.
|
| | Petrolicious—The Porsche Carrera Cup Scandinavia might not seem the most obvious place to look for star drivers. But in its most recent round it very much achieved this lofty status, as not only was 1997 Formula 1 world champion Jacques Villeneuve among those competing, so was Prince Carl Philip of Sweden! Both competed in guest drives in the
Kanonloppet—meaning ‘The Cannon Race’—Carrera Cup round which took place at the Gelleråsen Arena in Sweden, around 235km west of capital Stockholm, on August 17 and 18.
|
Autoweek—After years of Audi forum fanboys (and fangirls) pretending that they would totally buy an RS6 Avant if the German automaker were to offer it stateside, Audi did just that, despite the fact that it could have chosen to offer a model that will generate ten times the sales, like the A1
hatchback.

| | Motor Trend—The multi-day Rolex Monterey Motorsports Reunion is an annual delight at Monterey Car Week, with bygone racing weapons duking it out for bragging rights at WeatherTech Raceway Laguna Seca. The event's multiple classes span from the earliest days of competition through the 1990s (and occasionally beyond), meaning there's something for everyone
whether you're a fan of Ferrari, Porsche, or more domestic fare. It's great seeing classic Porsche race cars sharing the track again with vintage BMWs, Alfa Romeos, and Corvettes. Where else can you witness sometimes multi-million-dollar cars being used for their intended purpose? One of our favorites is the historic Trans-Am class, with Penske Camaros, Boss Mustangs, and AMC Javelins making the kind of hellacious racket you can feel in your chest as well as hear; head into the gallery for up
close and personal photos of those thoroughbreds, plus tons of other cool cars, both on the track and in the paddock. Enjoy!
|
Motor1—The guys at carwow have been pulling out all the stops lately, and are on a roll on their channel with a ton of uploads on some eagerly anticipated match ups. In the latest video above, we see the Porsche 911 Turbo S go up against the Lamborghini Huracan Performante, both very fast cars with over 1,200 horsepower
and 996 pound-feet of torque combined. The Huracan Performante makes its appearance once more, appearing in a previous drag race against a V12 stablemate, and belongs to @kanehennesy on Instagram.

Autoweek—Earl Bamber knew he had only a lap or two to catch and overtake leader Nick Tandy in the final seven minutes of Sunday afternoon’s IMSA WeatherTech SportsCar GTLM feature at Virginia International Raceway. Driving the No. 912 Porsche 911 GT, the New Zealander suddenly had new life when a full-course caution
bunched the field and brought him within sight of Tandy, one of his Porsche teammates.
