| | PCA—Porsche has just unveiled the Taycan sedan, the automaker’s first production electric vehicle, with two initial model variants: the Turbo and Turbo S. The Turbo makes “up to” 670 horsepower, Porsche says, while the Turbo S makes “up to” 750 hp when launch control and the overboost functions are activated at the same time.

PCA—By now, thanks to the wonders of the Internet, most of the world (my octogenarian parents included) knows about the Taycan and Porsche’s audacious intro of the car in three different “sustainable”
locations — wind and solar farms and a hydro site in the form of Niagara Falls. Not too many people at this point, however, have any sense of how it drives. But in advance of the first journalist drives in about two weeks, a few of us got in a couple of quick laps in the right seat at the Porsche Experience Center in Atlanta, under the condition that we would respect the information embargo that expired yesterday. And while right seat time isn’t the same as left seat time, the car’s
game-changing status was readily apparent.
| | PCA—Yesterday the all-wheel-drive Carrera 4 coupe and Cabriolet were added to the lineup of Porsche's 992-generation 911 and should reach dealers in early 2020, the automaker says. The new models join
the rear-wheel-drive Carreras that were announced in late July.
The biggest change is, of course, in the drivetrain, which now sends power to all four wheels, but Porsche has also upgraded the AWD system to include water cooling of the unit containing the front differential and clutches, which apply variable amounts of torque depending on driving conditions.

PCA—A popular PCA member benefit is The Mart, the club’s classifieds section online and in each issue of Porsche Panorama. Mart Fresh is a bi-weekly column in which PCA media staff and guest contributors pick what they think are the "freshest" Porsches currently available, and then attempt to explain their reasoning. Up
this week are a 1957 356, 1997 911 Cabriolet, 2004 Boxster S "50 Years of the 550 Spyder" edition, and 2014 911 GT3.

PCA—The Porsche Club of America’s “Driveway to Raceway” articles began in 2018 to showcase stories of how and why PCA members got involved with PCA Club Racing. So far, we’ve highlighted men and women, husbands and wives, and father and daughter/son teams who have taken a passion for Porsche from their driveway to the
track. The inspiration for this installment was watching a PCA Club Racing rookie tackle the often-tricky Mid Ohio Motorsports Park on a weekend that varied between gorgeous weather and dry track conditions, and perilously close lightning with frighteningly wet and treacherous track conditions. It also offered an example of comradery and community that occurs at nearly every Club Race on the calendar, enjoy.

| | PCA—Porsche’s first fully electric car is here, and depending on whom you ask, it could be the most serious competition the Tesla Model S has faced yet. It’s called the Porsche Taycan, and it is an all-electric sport sedan promising up to 750 horsepower, acceleration from zero to 60 mph in 2.6 seconds, and a fast-charging 800 volt battery with 280 miles of
range based on the European WLTP cycle.

Hagerty—My wife recently planned a family getaway to the island of Curaçao, in the Dutch Caribbean near Venezuela. While the thought of spending a week scuba diving and snorkeling with the fishies sounded fantastic, I wondered deep down if I could really survive that long without a car activity. For my sanity, I decided
I’d better work something up—would I unearth the United Nations of Gearheads?

| | Autoblog—When it comes time for the American owners of Porsche Boxsters and Caymans to trade in their keys for something new, they usually opt for another selection within the Porsche family. However, for those who choose to go elsewhere, guess what they're most frequently buying instead?

Road & Track—The Porsche 911 GT3 Cup race car sounds wonderful from the factory. Free of road-car muffling and other sound deterrents, the car is free to scream. But as NBC Sports' Proving Grounds TV show host Leh Keen proves, it can always get better.

Autoblog—Porsche and Rimac are strengthening their ties, as Porsche ups its stake in the Croatian electric supercar company to 15.5%. That’s up from the 10% stake Porsche snagged over a year ago. The larger stake in the company points to Porsche’s confidence in what Rimac is doing, and its desire to be partners going
forward. Timing for this announcement couldn’t be a happy coincidence, as Porsche just revealed its first fully electric car earlier this week.

| | Top Gear—This is as cheap as a Porsche 911 gets?
Well, it is and it isn’t. It’s the new £83k 992-gen Carrera, the car which will forever be called the ‘non-S’ instead.
So, it’s still a 911. It’s still got a 3.0-litre twin-turbo flat-six dangling out of its bottom – with a bit less power than the Carrera S. But, the cars Porsche handed out to test had been beaten black’n’blue with the options stick…

Road & Track—One of the most unique things about driving an electric vehicle is regenerative braking, where the electric motors that power the car help to slow it down, charging the car's battery in the process. Porsche engineers assume that drivers of the new Taycan electric sedan will accomplish around 90 percent
of their braking via regen.

with artificial intelligence.

Autoblog—This 2019 Porsche Cayenne Turbo, painted a low-key Rhodium Silver with a black leather interior, is definitively stealthy. And by examining its spec, you can glean a few things about the kind of person who’d buy it. First, they couldn’t care less if anyone noticed what they were driving. If it weren't for the
Porsche badges, most people wouldn't give it a second look. The buyer knows what it is, and that's enough.

| | The Truth About Cars—The one thing we don’t know about Porsche’s sexy and prohibitively expensive Taycan EV happens to be one of the most important aspects of any electric car: its range. While many of you (read: almost certainly all of you) have no use for the Taycan and couldn’t afford one without a Brinks holdup, the newly revealed model is nonetheless
making waves.

Now that Porsche has removed the camouflage, we can more clearly see how it fits into the family.

Top Gear—Hello and welcome to today’s edition of ‘What bonkers ideas has Tesla boss Elon Musk tweeted now?” Elon’s new wizard-wheeze is simple: “Model S on the Nürburgring next week.” See?

| | Autoblog—Bonhams says this 1976 Porsche 911 rally car has done "more competitive kilometers than any other Porsche," and the auction house has documentation to prove it. The globetrotting, high-rise 911 with a 3.0-liter flat-six was delivered to Polish rally driver Sobislav Zasada, and he and co-driver Wojciecj Schramm entered it in the 1977 London-Sydney
Marathon. That single event put more than 18,500 racing miles on the chassis, with Zasada and Schramm leading all the way into Australia before bogging down in deep sand Down Under.

Roadshow by CNET—The very first customer-ready Porsche Taycan rolled off the production line in Stuttgart, Germany on Monday, following the high-performance electric vehicle's big debut last week. The Taycan has its very own factory in the Zuffenhausen district of Stuttgart. But as it turns out, that wasn't always the
plan.
