PCA—Porsche Club of America's official birthday was September 13, 1955, at a steakhouse in Washington, DC. That same year had another PCA milestone: The club printed the first issue of
its
| |
now award-winning magazine, Porsche Panorama, in December 1955. Panorama has been printed continuously ever since, and the September issue marks #750. In celebration of 750 issues, we've put together these videos — one that flips through all the covers in less than two minutes, and a 13-minute version.

PCA—The town of Woodstock, Vermont was the perfect setting for PCA’s Fall Treffen North America in 2019. 270 members journeyed to the Northeast and participated in driving tours that spanned the host
regions of Green Mountain, Hudson-Champlain, Northeast, and Connecticut Valley. Our host hotel for the week was the historically iconic Woodstock Inn, Vermont’s most beautiful address, which did not disappoint in terms of charm, service, atmosphere, and food.
| | PCA—One of the major inspirations for Rennbow was, frankly, our fascination with old dealer color chart brochures. They’re pricey collectibles now, but back then, they were just a piece of the
disposable collateral that went along with selling new cars. In honor of 914 Day, we decided to take a closer look at one of our favorite years of the 914 palette, 1972.

| | PCA—This month, Porsche Panorama proudly celebrates its 750th issue with a special 30-page section featuring every single cover and reflections about the magazine from its founding in December 1955 to the present in "Panorama @750: Celebrating a Milestone." Click here to watch a video that flips through all the covers as well. Elsewhere, we talk about how
the turbocharged 991.2 is easier and cheaper than ever to tweak for higher output. Read about one example, the 911 GTS known as “Big Bird.” Carole Johnson is not one to take the conventional route, eschewing math for computer progamming in its nascence, and later ordering a paint-to-sample 1978 911 SC that she held on to for more than 40 years. Follow her story in “Stereotypes Smashed.” As we continue to celebrate 50 years of the 917, Sean Cridland takes a look back at 917-001, which after a
somewhat convoluted history has been fully restored in “Back to Form.”

PCA—Four PCA members volunteered to be a part of a PCA National initiative and attend a different type of car show, an indoor, afternoon event that anybody can attend and where owners show off their modified and tuned cars. They displayed their Porsches at Wekfest in New Jersey, where it’s all about customization. PCA
is always looking for opportunities to share our Porsche enthusiasm with future Porsche owners and potential new members, and this was a great event to do just that.

Experience—Sean Clifton gripped the wheel as his Porsche 911 barreled into a turn. The tires chattered underneath him, the tell-tale sign that he was going too fast and turning too hard. On a racetrack like this, one or the other had to give. He let the car drift wide coming out of the turn, scrubbing off speed, and the
chattering stopped.

| | PCA—Join Porsche Club of America and Porsche Cars North America for the Porscheplatz at Road Atlanta for the 2019 Motul Petit Le Mans / IMSA Weather Tech Sportscar Championship. The Porscheplatz tent is the hub of activity for PCA members and Porsche owners at the races and includes presentations by Porsche GT team drivers, Michelin, Mobil 1, Recaro and
more. Watch the races trackside from the tent or just relax, enjoy a cool beverage, and watch the races via live feed TV.

Road & Track—Though the Ruf CTR3 may look like a Porsche 911 up front, it's a wildly different beast underneath. While the front clip and platform is from a 911 GT3, the rear is totally bespoke, developed in-house by Ruf in conjunction with Multimatic, the firm responsible for building the new Ford
GT.

| | Automotive News—Seven tons of paperwork.
That was what it took for Porsche just to secure building and regulatory permits before it could begin construction of its first all-electric vehicle. And it symbolizes the hurdle the German sports car maker had to clear to create one of the most ambitious cars in its history.
|
Motor Trend—The 911 variants are coming. There are currently 24 submodels of previous generation 911 (Honda sells only 10 nameplates in their entire portfolio) and Porsche is unlikely to change what's been working for decades. Earlier this year, Porsche debuted the 992—the first major 911 redesign since the 991 in
2012—with the release of the 2020 Carrera S. That means the Turbo, the Targa, the Carrera T, the GT3 and eventual GT2; they're all on the way.

The Drive—The Porsche Taycan is here, and the stench of "Tesla-Killer" clickbait is so thick you need all the cocaine at a Pagani owners' meet to get to the truth. That truth is that car brands are as polarizing as our president, and no one can hear the oppositions' arguments, right or wrong. Much like those who
wouldn't care if Trump asked for a Trolley Problem demonstration on Obama's lawn, there are Tesla fanbois who'd be fine with Elon Musk building a Gigafactory in the middle of the burning Amazon.

| | Road & Track—In the mid-1980s, Porsche founded a spec racing series using its top-of-the-line 944, the Turbo (also known as the 951). The events were usually support races that were held at major venues, often involving popular drivers. The spec cars got substantial engine and chassis upgrades over the standard Turbo road car, and just a handful were
built. This one has never been raced, and it's coming up for sale via RM Sotheby's in September 2019. You should buy it and take it to the track immediately.
|
Inside EVs—Just last week, Electrify America and Porsche made history together. During the official launch of the Porsche Taycan on September 4, 2019, Electrify America (EA) got to show off the incredible capability of its DC fast-charging network.

Hagerty—n April of 1969, Volkswagen and Porsche announced that with a holding stock capital of 5 million deutsche marks, they established VW-Porsche-Vertriebsgesellschaft mbh, otherwise known as the VW-Porsche Sales Company. Then, at the Frankfurt Auto Show in September, they debuted a pair of VW-Porsche
914s.

| | Autocar—The iconic Porsche 911 will continue to be petrol-powered beyond the next ten years, thanks to efficiency improvements to petrol engines and the use of synthetic fuels.

Medium—As I sat comfortably on my couch watching the 12 Hours of Sebring, I realized how much race car drivers had in common with startup founders and CEOs. How do I know? Because I’m both, although I’ve been racing cars longer than I’ve been running companies. There are important elements to racing and managing
businesses, which I’ve compiled below. By mastering some, or all of these elements, a CEO’s chances for success in both racing and managing increase significantly.

Motor1—After Polestar’s director of development, Ian Collings, admitted Tesla is “far ahead of everyone else," another high-ranked executive has openly discussed the competition. This time around, Mercedes-AMG chief Tobias Moers acknowledged Porsche’s first production electric model sets the bar in terms of performance
and Mercedes-Benz’ upcoming electric vehicles might not offer the same output levels.
|
| | Top Gear—What’s this?
A contradiction. It’s the humblest Porsche Cayenne Coupe. Not the Cayenne S Coupe, nor the Cayenne Turbo S Coupe e-Hybrid Coupe S Turbo-ey-turbo S thingy.
Just Cayenne Coupe. Sportiest Cayenne bodystyle (20mm lower, 18mm wider at the rear, and £5,000 pricier), with the weediest powertrain.
|
Road & Track—The roughly $150,000 Porsche Taycan isn't exactly an EV on a budget. But it won't take a second mortgage to get behind the wheel of one – at least, digitally. Porsche this week announced the Taycan Turbo S for Gran Turismo Sport. Racers will be able to drive the 751-horsepower (560-kilowatt) sedan as
part of a free content update in October 2019.

Bradenton Herald—A salesman at a Pompano Beach Porsche dealership ran his own fraudulent shadow business that involved selling 911 Carreras that didn’t exist, according to a federal court guilty plea.
Plantation resident Shiraaz Sookralli snookered $3 million from customers at Champion Porsche, kept all the money from another Porsche sale he sold for another party on consignment and used a shell company to embezzle money from Champion Porsche.
|
| | Robb Report—It was all about the rasp and snarl of that free-revving, mid-mounted flat-six power plant. The indelible sounds of the late, great, naturally aspirated Porsche Boxster Spyder and Cayman GT4 engines were a trigger for the brand’s cultish cognoscenti, bolstering a sensually gratifying allegiance that flipped to revolt when smaller, turbocharged
four-cylinder motors eventually replaced the sonorous sixes.
|
Car and Driver—Talk about synchronicity. Just hours after Frank Steffen-Walliser, Porsche head of sports cars, told Autocar that Porsche is considering a Cayman GT4 RS, our wily spy photographers checked in with this set of photos depicting what appears to be a 718 Cayman GT4 RS undergoing testing.

Photo by Tim Pafik. Northeast Region. "I bought this 1986 944 Turbo (951) in the summer of 2018 with just over 700
original miles showing after my test drive. It’s like a new car in all ways. Despite a few mice nests under the hood the car survives as an example of how the car left the factory in January of 1986!"
Got a stunning shot you want to share? Submit your pictures to potw@pca.org. Be sure to include your contact information, your region name, and a few sentences about your picture.
