the inconvenience.
| | PCA—As Ruf Automobile, GmbH announces the first production model of its new carbon fiber-bodied SCR — a bespoke design that looks like an air-cooled 911 — in the same press release the automaker also shared the delightful Rodeo
concept, another looks-like-an-air-cooled-911, only this one is meant to drive off-road.
It's not April 1, so we’ll assume Ruf actually built a full-size concept, though some of the photos make it look like a scale model.

| | PCA—The first Porsche 911 Carrera S Club Coupe was built for the 50th anniversary of PCA, and it was — and still is — an impressive car. The same can be said about the more recent 911 GTS Club Coupe, built for PCA for the club’s 60th anniversary. Only 50 were made of the former, and 60 of the latter, so they’re extremely rare. Both crossed the auction block at the Amelia Island auctions last weekend.

Hagerty—Every year, the Amelia Island Concours d'Elegance brings together a group of cars that is both spectacular and diverse, from delicately styled 1930s luxury to fire-breathing race and rally machinery. In the end, though, only two cars can claim top honors. There is a Best in Show Concours trophy as well as a Best in Show Concours de Sport award for the motorsport veterans celebrated
each year. At the end of a crisp but sunny Sunday at the Ritz-Carlton, a Murphy-bodied 1929 Duesenberg J-218 Town Limousine from the Lehrman Collection in Palm Beach, Florida, along with the ex-Mark Donohue Porsche 917/30 Can-Am car belonging to Rob Kauffman of Charlotte, North Carolina, got the glory.

The Drive—The day began with a childish belly chuckle. I was worried the Porsche Taycan Turbo S supplied for our road trip from Atlanta to Amelia Island would be painted a boring white, but it turns out that Porsche wrapped two of the Taycans in our convoy in the company's classic Brumos and Pink Pig Porsche liveries, intending on showing them off to the Concours crowd this weekend. I picked
the Pink Pig for the 357-mile trek, because why wouldn't you pick the Pink Pig?

| | TheSmokingTire via YouTube—VONNEN is a new company from the owners of the well-regarded Elephant Racing, the company which supplied the suspension for my Keen Project Safari 911. VONNEN is offering a new kind of tuning package: one in which you don't touch the engine at all. By replacing the flywheel with an electric motor/generator, placing a battery pack and cooling under the front trunk, and operating on a standalone ECU, VONNEN is able to
add 150 HP and TQ at the crank to *any* 2009+ Porsche sports car, without touching the engine at all. It's hybrid tech for cars that were never designed to be hybrid, and here's the craziest part: It works way better than you think it ever could.

& Track—It's not surprising to see big power out of a Porsche 911 Turbo, and yet, when I first saw the 640-horsepower figure for the new 992 Turbo S, I had to stop and appreciate it. Until now, only 911s wearing a GT2 RS badge made that kind of power, but now, one of the regular production models is right up there. Writer Andrew Frankel over at DriveNation helped me realize why I'm so astounded by the 640-hp number—it's the biggest power increase in 911 Turbo
history.

Autocar—Porsche has no desire to follow the array of electric hypercars with four-figure power outputs into the market, according to the brand's design chief.
Talking to Autocar in a phone interview that would have taken place at the cancelled Geneva motor show, Michael Mauer expressed that he has other ideas about what is important for enthusiasts.

Auto Express—Porsche bosses have admitted that development of the upcoming 911 hybrid is well under way, and that prototypes have hit the roads ahead of its anticipated launch in 2023.
The new 992 generation of the iconic sports car has been developed to adopt hybrid technology, but Porsche's head of R&D has told Auto Express that the company is still debating whether the car will be a performance-focused hybrid or a plug-in hybrid that prioritises electric range.
|
Autoblog—The emblematic Porsche 911 hasn't adopted electrification yet in spite of the endless rumors claiming it would. The current-generation model (pictured) was developed with zero-emissions powertrains in mind, and prototypes are being tested around the world, but analyzing conflicting reports from both sides of the Atlantic leads us to conclude that hybrid and electric versions of the
911 still aren't in Porsche's short-term product plan.

| | Jalopnik—Okay, look, I absolutely realize that any rational window to talk about the cars of Tarantino’s alternate timeline Manson Family movie Once Upon A Time…In Hollywood is long, long past. I get that. I wanted to do some kind of “cars of” post at the time, but I was unable to get my hands on a screener to get suitable screen grabs from, so I moved on to other things. But, when I watched it, I absolutely noticed the cars, and, more
significantly, the (really very few) automotive anachronisms. I finally had a chance to grab an image or two from the movie, so I decided what the hell, let’s talk about this.
|
Top Gear—There’ll be a lightweight package
The new 911 Turbo wants to be sportier than before. A tall ask, you might think, but recent Turbos have lent more towards being grand tourers with outrageous acceleration, particularly alongside cheaper 911 GT3s. This one wants to come with a bit more handling nous, though, especially if you spec the optional, 10mm-lower sports suspension.

| | Car—Heavy batteries are hindering plans to electrify Porsche's smallest sports cars - and the project has not yet been given the green light, the R&D chief has admitted.
Talking to CAR magazine during the virtual Geneva motor show, Dr Michael Steiner said: 'We are running several electrified Boxsters to gain expertise and knowledge to see how an electric car performs as a two-door. But there is no final decision yet.'
|
Motor1—Gemballa, the German aftermarket tuning company, is leveling charges against the founder's son, alleging he's infringing on Gemballa's trademarks and products. The company contends Marc Phillip Gemballa is exploiting Gemballa's reputation as Marc gets his own company, MP Gemballa, off the ground.

Inside EVs—The arrival of the Porsche Taycan on the EV scene has caused quite a stir among car enthusiasts around the world. Since its the first real sports EV to compete with Tesla and its Performance models, we have been waiting to see the numbers come out.

Trend—Just when we thought the 992-series 911 couldn't get any better, Porsche goes and pulls the wraps off the 911 Turbo S. Yes, the Porsche 911 Carrera S is great (after all, we named it our Best Driver's Car for 2019), but the 911 Turbo S may be even greater. Credit its 640-hp twin-turbo 3.8-liter flat-six that bests its Carrera S sibling's by nearly 200 horses.

Road Show by CNET—The US served as one of the Porsche Taycan's launch markets, but as some global buyers wait for the marque's first electric car to reach them, Porsche will gladly show the car off in virtual reality.

| | IMSA—TPC Racing unveiled a driver line-up for the 2020 IMSA Porsche GT3 Cup Challenge USA by Yokohama and IMSA Porsche GT3 Cup Challenge Canada by Yokohama racing series that features eight drivers and one iron man pulling double duty in both championships filling nine slots. The team will be joined in Canada by Porsche Centre Downtown Toronto, supporting the entire TPC Racing operation and proudly displaying its branding on the No. 36 Porsche
driven by team principal Michael Levitas.

Photo by Brett Coon. Golden Gate Region. "I took this picture of my brand new 991.2 in late 2017. The location is a boat launch area at a nearby lake. I chose it mostly for the uncluttered background, but I think the skid marks in the foreground work really well
with the subject."
