| | PCA—Werks Reunion Amelia Island this year was blessed with sunshine, perfect temperature, and the highest turnout ever, as over 600 Porsches were registered and up to 4,000 more car enthusiasts descended onto the fairways of Amelia River Golf Club on March 6. After three years at a different location, compliments rolled in for the fourth annual Florida event.

PCA—At PCA, our new Porsche experiences of late have been primarily with the newest internal-combustion-engine sports cars, the 718 GTS twins (Boxster/Cayman), and the pure electric Taycan. Lost in the shuffle have been the
plug-in hybrids. That was remedied recently when we spent a week with the Cayenne E-Hybrid. On the whole, it was a positive experience, and the electrification is an indisputable value-add to the Cayenne S.
| | PCA—Staff members at the PCA National Office are taking the proper precautions to ensure they remain healthy and help to limit the spread of COVID-19. In all things we do, first and foremost is the health and safety of our
members, volunteers, employees, and sponsors, and we are carefully following the recommended practices.

| | Pirelli—Pirelli offers you a chance to win round-trip flights to Las Vegas, two-night accommodation, and the driving experience with Dream Racing (one companion included):

- Your companion will drive a 992-generation Porsche 911 Carrera S for 5 laps + 2 laps riding along with a professional driver.

PCA—It takes a special kind of person to look at a supercar and say, “You know what? I think I can make it better.” Bruce Canepa has spent years refining and tweaking the 959, and as with "Blue Note," he will build you your very own. It’s not cheap, but we promise you’ll love it. In October 2018, we took a street-legal GT2 RS to Road America to face off against a GT3 Cup racer. This month we
return to Wisconsin, but this time the GT3 Cup faces a race-ready GT2 RS Clubsport in a “Road Race.” Barry Goldstein spent $7,800 for a 1983 911 SC and got what you might expect for that money. But due to lots of persistence and a bit of luck, he turned his “Diamond in the Rough” into a head-turning longnose that he loves to drive. From the late 1950s through the ’70s, hill-climb competitions were fierce battles among major manufacturers. Read about Porsche’s lightest-ever hill climber, the
“Lightweight Special” 909 Bergspyder.
All that plus spy shots of the Taycan Sport Turismo, race results from Daytona, and the latest chapter in “The Spy Collector.”

| | PCA—A popular PCA member benefit is The Mart, the club’s classifieds section online and in each issue of Porsche Panorama. Mart Fresh is a bi-weekly column in which PCA media staff and guest contributors pick what they think are the "freshest" Porsches currently available, and then attempt to explain their reasoning. Up this week are a 1987 911 Carrera, 1987 924S, 1987 go-cart with 962 body, and a 2003 911 Carrera 4S.

Autocar—The news out of Whitehall earlier this month seemed very much like the death sentence for the internal combustion engine that so many of us have been dreading, didn’t it? And with it there also came a numbering of days for all sorts of vehicle that it’s hard to imagine being powered in any other way.

Hagerty—The design filed under No. 367 in the archives marks a special chapter within Porsche’s genesis story. It’s a prototype engine tested while Ferry Porsche moved away from the 1939 Porsche Type 64 Berlin-Rome car to his first production 356s, built in 1948 at a former sawmill in Gmünd, Austria.

| | Motor1—In a new video, John Hennessey's tuned Mclaren 600LT takes on a Porsche 911 GT2 RS in two drag races. First, they compete from a standing start off the line, and then they go from a 35-mile-per-hour (56-kilometer-per-hour) roll.

PCA—The Porscheplatz at the ‘Super Sebring’ races on March 18-21, has been postponed until November 13 and 14, 2020.
‘Super Sebring’ races include the FIA WEC (World Endurance Championship) and IMSA (International Motor Sport Association) 68th Annual Mobil 1 Twelve Hours of Sebring. The FIA WEC at Sebring has been cancelled. The IMSA 68th Annual Mobil 1 Twelve Hours of Sebring has been postponed until November 13 & 14, 2020. Both organizations have stated that the recent US travel ban on all travel from Europe, will prevent a number of drivers, teams, and key personnel from participation.
Sebring International Raceway will honor previously purchased 2020 admission and parking tickets at the rescheduled date. Additional details to follow when available.
We have planned a great Porscheplatz experience for you in Sebring and look forward to seeing you in November.

Trend—The novel coronavirus (also known as COVID-19) pandemic has many of us stuck at home. Yet, even if we could leave the house without fear of contracting the highly contagious virus, we'd be SOL, as most of the world's biggest attractions have been closed. That includes the majority of car museums. But since we live in the 21st Century, you can still visit these beloved institutions through interactive and virtual tours. Here are the best car museums you can visit virtually while
waiting out COVID-19.

Road & Track—Joining a growing roster of tuning companies prepping off-road versions of Porsche's iconic sports car, famed tuner Gemballa announced that it was prepping an "Avalanche 4x4 911." This comes just two days after RUF announced its own "Rodeo," a carbon-fiber bodied interpretation with off-road, air-cooled
911 styling.

| | Motor1—For many people that desire practicality and everyday livability, an SUV or crossover would be the first choice. But for those who seek the versatility of four doors and a sizable boot coupled with impressive driving dynamics and performance, then there's the super saloon; basically a practical family sedan with horsepower numbers that your wife need not know about. These cars are supreme highway cruisers, daily grocery getters, and
wouldn't look out of place with your supercar buddies on the weekends. And Mat Watson wants to put three luxurious super saloons against each other in another carwow drag race. So, it's Porsche versus Audi versus Bentley, and the participants are all making at least 600 horsepower.

| | Jalopnik—Earlier this week, Porsche published a Facebook post about the upcoming Amelia Island Concours event. In the photo post were three Taycans done up in classic Porsche racing liveries, and people could try and connect a certain livery with the racing car that originally wore it. But really, what the post did was strengthen the belief that the Taycan simply looks great, even in pink.

Top Gear—Saying you love Ruf is like saying you love sunsets, or ice cream, or swimming in the Meditteranean on a warm July day. It’s just one of those things that seems impossible to hate.
But why are we such ardent admirers? Is it the absence of ridiculous bodywork that defined other tuners? Is it the almost pathological attention to detail? Is it because of Faszination on the Nürburgring?

| | Motor1—The 2021 Porsche 911 Turbo S is still hot off its debut on March 3, and the company now has a video showing off some of the tech that makes the new coupe and convertible special. Buyers willing to put down the $203,500 base price for the coupe or $216,300 for the Cabriolet want to know about the features they can brag about to friends.
|
Hagerty—As we rolled our three whispering Porsche Taycans onto the field at the Werks Reunion, the big Porsche show before the Amelia Island Concours, some guy waved his hand at us in the universal signal to rev the engine. Then he laughed to himself at his own little joke. Yeah, you can’t do that with an electric car, zing its engine for the crowd. Not yet, anyway, not until you can buy
custom car sounds from the iTunes store. In the future, there will be Porsche Taycans that sound like Ferrari F1 cars and P-51 Mustangs, mark my words. Just not yet. So we whispered on, trying not to accidentally run anyone over by stealth.

| | Bloomberg—Porsche AG is looking to expand a 6 billion-euro ($6.9 billion) efficiency drive to help shoulder record investment and make Volkswagen AG’s most profitable brand more resilient to market slumps.

Motor1—The BMW i8 is on its way out of production in April, as announced in an official statement last week. But that doesn't mean that the electrified sports car is exiting without merit. It is the bestseller of its class and one that has the performance to boot.
How does it compare to other sports cars? Auto Motor & Sport channel on Youtube has pitted the i8 Roadster against the Polestar 1 and oddly enough, against the new Porsche 911 Carrera. The competition? A good ol' drag race.
| | |
The Drive—There are simply too few shooting brakes nowadays, and one Dutch company is out to fix that for Porsche fans everywhere. Fontys Hogeschool Eindhoven Motorsport Engineering head Erik Groenendijk de Laat had the idea to turn an early 986-generation Porsche Boxster into this wonderful little hatchback, and it's the greatest thing we've seen in a long time.

| | Motor1—The 3D printing is slowly making its way into the automotive industry. More and more automakers are experimenting with the technology and we’ve already seen beautiful printed creations, including McLaren P1 wheels, Bugatti brake calipers, and custom Mini trim pieces. Some innovative companies are taking a further step forward by printing chassis components for supercars. Porsche, of course, is not going to just stay and watch the
party.
