| | PCA—Porsche has listened, and what it has heard is that we want more naturally aspirated flat sixes. In today’s announcement, Porsche committed to putting a 4.0-liter naturally aspirated flat six into the 718 Cayman GTS and Boxster GTS, a 394-horsepower mill that is closely related to the range-topping Cayman GT4 and Spyder engine, paired only with a six-speed manual.

PCA—Yesterday The Brumos Collection had its grand opening and ribbon-cutting ceremony at its new automotive museum, which is now open to the public. We had our cameras rolling when collection owner Dan Davis welcomed his guests and spoke with Executive Director Brandon Starks to find out more.
In the video, you’ll see the new museum space in Jacksonville, Florida, where Davis keeps his surreal automotive collection. Of course, there were Porsches. Lots of them. From the 917K used in Le Mans to a 908K, a Mercedes-Benz transporter, a 935, a 917/10, so much Brumos Racing history — well, just watch the video.

PCA—To combat lackluster sales of the 924, Porsche developed a factory racing program for Le Mans in 1980. Learn about the 924’s racing story and our driving impressions of one 924 Carrera GTR that waited 35 years to hit the track in “Better Late Than Never." Every once in awhile, a particular Porsche takes your breath away. One such example is Rob Sewell’s 1997 Vesuvio Metallic Carrera S,
which shows that “It’s All in the Details.” After several different owners and decades of restoration, a 1951 356 split-window coupe was finally ready to enter the concours field at the 2018 Parade. It is definitely “The Genuine Article.” In November 2019, two of Porsche’s finest engineers, Norbert Singer and Hans Mezger, celebrated birthdays. We look back on their storied history with the company in “Singer + Mezger” and interview them about their “Major Milestones.”
Also, Csaba Csere delves into the debate between European and American horsepower standards, and endurance racing returns to South Africa’s Kyalami track.

PCA—Each year, Porsche Club of America holds many Concours d’Elegance events across North America. But few have provided a community contribution to the level of the Colorado Concours d’Elegance & Exotic Sports Car Show.
The Colorado Concours d’Elegance & Exotic Sports Car Show is one of the largest judged shows in Colorado. The PCA Rocky Mountain Region supported event displays over 400 cars, with typically a third of the cars being judged. To give back to their community, the event proceeds after expenses go directly to benefit Ability Connection Colorado.

Watches—REC Watches presents the 901 collection - a timepiece incorporating metal from a classic air-cooled Porsche 911.
The Concept
How do you put the soul of a car into a watch. Where do you find it? In the material, the shape, or is it in the roads it’s travelled? It’s our love for the extraordinary machine that drives our philosophy. A three-step process we’ve named: RECover, RECycle, REClaim. Or REC for short.

Motor Trend—October 22, 1964 proved to be a fateful day. The 53rd, 54th, and 55th Porsche 911s were built that day, only they weren't called 911s. See, a year earlier at the 50th Paris Motor Show the Porsche 901 had debuted. Reaction was mixed. So big! So fat! It's true—much of the assembled press bemoaned how much larger and heavier the 901 was compared to the 356 it would
replace.

e-racing 365—In August last year, a Porsche Taycan set a new electric four-door production car lap record around the Nürburgring Nordschleife in the hands of leading test driver Lars Kern.
The 7:42 figure was a landmark for Porsche as it proved that the brand’s first electric sedan could equal some of its best internal combustion engine-powered sports cars in the performance stakes.

| | TheSmokingTire via YouTube—Winter tyres help cars stay mobile in wintery and snowy conditions, but at what price? Due to the siping needed for the winter tires to work in snow and ice, a winter tire often makes a cars steering feel light and vague, which is the last thing you want on a supercar like the Porsche 992 911 Carrera 2S.

The Drive—The series of auctions in Scottsdale, Arizona, this week has seen a number of high-profile vehicles change hands, from a huge collection of cars owned by Paul Walker to the replica Ferrari featured in Ferris Bueller's Day Off. The most surprising result however was a rare Porsche 914/GT that sold for $995,000 at the Gooding & Co. auction.

Hoonigan Daily Transmission via YouTube—Not into Porsches? Or LeMons? What about a post-apocalyptic, Mad Max looking, Porsche GT3 powered racecars? Vali Predescu of Vali Motorsports was tasked with making a unique Porsche Boxster LeMons racer - and this is the result. But unlike many LeMons style racers, Vali's car has more "art piece" looks than "pieced together" looks. And it still weighs
sub-3000lbs. Not built for drifting? No problem.

PCA—In the 1980s, when the Berlin Wall still partitioned east from west, the local Region of PCA — yes, there really was such a thing — assembled 20 Porsches for a tour of the city’s Soviet sector. We’re working on an article for an upcoming issue of Porsche Panorama and would like to hear from anyone who was part of the group. Please send an email to Damon Lowney:

Road & Track—The 934 is one of Porsche's most iconic race cars. It's usually powered by an air-cooled flat-six that's been turbocharged to oblivion, but this one's a bit different.
According to the HillClimb Monsters YouTube channel, this 934 is powered by a 2.8-liter water-cooled turbo flat-six. It's making 450 horsepower—plenty considering the car's minimal 2300-pound curb weight. And best of all, it still makes a great noise.

The Drive—Don't try and claim that you haven't looked at salvage auctions and dreamed about resurrecting some of the more interesting smashed-up gems. It's something every car fanatic does, and there's no shame in admitting you'd love to see a totaled Ferrari come back from the dead, especially if its forever home is your garage.

| | Motor1—We're in our point in our lives where electric vehicles have been winning drag races like they're made to do so. Tesla is one of those EVs that have been beating sports cars and even supercars in straight-line races. We've seen the Model 3 take on heavy hitters, and a lot of them have seen the four-door sedan winning at the end of the line.

Car and Driver—"I don't think I'd vacation in Germany," declared our British photographer and now German resident, Tom Salt, as we poured along the A7 autobahn in a 2020 Porsche 911 Carrera S at a blissful 130 mph. Salt's words echoed in my head, but he didn't get an amen or even a response from me. My plans for a return trip were already forming.

Motor1—Let’s admit it - the 996 generation of the Porsche 911 was a troubled kid. It was highlighted by the company’s decision to switch to a water-cooled engine, which was controversial with Porsche traditionalists. Purists also criticized the styling of the last 911 of the XX century, saying that it’s plain and lacks a relationship to prior 911 models. All this negativism means you can buy a
well-maintained 911 (996) for less than $30,000 today. If you really think its design is too simple, here’s an idea of what to fix that.

Trend—Porsche has created a convincing Tesla fighter with the Taycan Turbo S, certainly in terms of performance. Delivering 751 horsepower in Overboost mode, or 617 hp in normal driving, this top-shelf Taycan is poised to be one of the quickest electric cars on the market. But its incredible performance will come at a price, if new EPA estimates are any indication. The Taycan Turbo S is rated at 68 MPGe, making it much less efficient than rivals. Worse yet, the EPA rates the powerful
Porsche's range at 192 miles on a charge.

Photo by Hiromi Bounds. Pacific Northwest Region. "After two decades living in Seattle, we finally caught a break in the spring rains last year and our city schedule to escape to the farms. Skagit Valley, 70 miles north of Seattle, is famous for its multi-colored tulip fields
scattered throughout this fertile valley. Supplying tulip bulbs around the world, these colorful blooms have a short life. The flowers are cut off after full bloom to concentrate nutrients in the bulbs for harvest. With a short viewing season, between the April rains and the weekend crowds, we skipped out on a cloudy Tuesday to see the fields. We found these bright yellow tulips striking against our 2016 Sapphire Blue Turbo S. Thirty minutes later, the rains returned."
