| | PCA—We’ve wondered whether Porsche would produce a rear-wheel-drive version of its Taycan electric sedan as a base model, and yesterday the automaker confirmed as much in an announcement. Unfortunately, it initially will be available only in the Chinese market.

PCA—Normally we don’t bother publishing minuscule year-to-year updates of a particular model — new paint color options, MSRP increase by $200, etc. — but Porsche communicated some additions to standard equipment for the 2021
718 this week which particularly make base models a better value.

PCA—This edition of PCA Club Racing’s “Driveway to Raceway” series features Hunt McMahon, a driver who has enjoyed success in one of the most competitive classes in Club Racing, Spec Boxster (SPB). As you will see, Hunt’s love of cars started early, and his experience in racing is
similar to many others: humbling, exciting, and rewarding. We hope you enjoy hearing from your fellow members and racers, and that their stories help you realize the path to racing may not be as difficult as you think.

| | PCA—The name Treffen has been around PCA for over six years now. It simply means “meeting” or “get-together” in German. The events most associated with treffen in PCA over the years have been the trips to Europe, and more recently trips to Europe using the Treffen name are run by an outside company and not PCA. A few years ago, we started PCA Treffen North America, but for this article I want to cover the early European Treffen
trips.

PCA—Designed by F.A. “Butzi” Porsche, the mid-engined and well-balanced 904 Carrera GTS featured a boxed steel frame, a fiberglass-reinforced plastic body, and arguably some of the most gorgeously penned and streamlined lines to ever grace a car bearing the Porsche crest. A true
dual-purpose car — at home on both road or track — the 904 was campaigned by the Porsche factory and privateers following its official debut in November 1963, notching up over 300 class wins and 145 overall victories. Produced for just two short years, only 110 examples were built — 106 with a 180-horsepower Ernst Fuhrmann-designed four-cam four-cylinder engine, and four vehicles with a 210-horsepower six-cylinder — while a further two factory race cars were propelled by a 240-horsepower
eight-cylinder engine.

| | CarWOW via YouTube—The time has finally come for Mat to review the all-new Porsche 911 Turbo S! Not only is it the most expensive 911 EVER, but Porsche also claims it’s the fastest - hitting 0-60mph in just 2.6 seconds! But can it actually hit that ridiculously quick time, and is it worth the ludicrous £156,000 starting price?! Stick with us as Mat puts this new Turbo S through its paces!

Motorweek via YouTube—We brought the 2020 Porsche 911 Carrera 4S down to Savannah for some turns around Roebling Road.

Motor Trend—The shapes of these machines, especially in these colors, make children jump and squeal with joy—while most adults wish they weren't quite so self-conscious so that they could do the same.
|
Motor1—The new 992 Porsche 911 Turbo S elevates the new 911 to the realm of supercars offering mind-bending performance in a rather unassuming package. Porsche 911 Turbo variants have traditionally been giant slayers punching well above their weight class, and this tradition
continues with the latest 992 generation. During an on-track test, the team over at Auto BILD Sportscars saw impressive figures from their 992 Porsche 911 Turbo S.

| | Roadshow by CNET—There's a lot to be said for the meditative quality of a long drive on a good road by yourself, but I often find that running through the canyons north of Los Angeles is more fun with a friend. And since my significant other owns a Porsche Cayman GT4, many of our date nights involve me staring at the back end of his Brewster Green coupe while I'm chasing it down Angeles Forest Highway.
|
autoevolution—Porsche's name doesn't normally land into the same sentence with the term "rat rod". Then again, French builder Alexandre Danton doesn't create normal cars, so his latest project, the one you are now looking at, shouldn't surprise you.

| | EverydayDriver via YouTube—The guys go on a scouting trip to find a new road. Along the way they discuss what we've learned about navigating a new back road, and the benefits of a great drive.
|
Motor Trend—Porsche churns out so many run-out editions of the 911 that collectors must be feeling pretty gouged by now. There's the 911 Carrera 4 GTS, the 911 Black Edition Cabriolet, the 911 Turbo S Edition 918 Spyder—the list goes on. Seems like every combination of spec and
paint becomes a model in its own right. We are just waiting for a narrow-body rear-wheel-drive Turbo Targa Orange Stripe edition.
| | |
| | SporstCar 365—While Porsche’s North American-based GT team dominated the GT Le Mans ranks of the IMSA WeatherTech SportsCar Championship last year, they also won over the hearts of legions of fans with heritage liveries adorned on the championship-winning Porsche 911 RSRs throughout IMSA’s 50th anniversary season.
|
Motor1—Time and again, we've seen the Nissan GT-R face faster rivals, whether on a full circuit competition or in a drag strip. Despite having old bones underneath, the Japanese sports coupe is still a force to be reckoned with, even among newer competitors.
Case in point, the Porsche 911 Turbo S. Even 991 generation of the pumped-up 911 is still newer than the GT-R, but that doesn't mean it's quicker. Or is it?

| | CarScoops—Spain has been hit particularly hard by the coronavirus pandemic but the Porsche Ibérica dealership in Madrid made the best of a bad situation earlier this week, organizing a large meet-up of Porsche owners at a drive-in cinema.
|
| | PCA—Due to the novel Coronavirus and the disease it causes, COVID-19, automotive events around the world have been postponed or cancelled, and events held by and/or related to Porsche Club of America are no exception. Below is a list of PCA National and Porsche-related events and their current statuses. We will update this page as more information becomes available. PCA National-hosted events are in bold.
|
Road & Track—Due to both the economic and human cost of the ongoing coronavirus pandemic, the organizers of the Geneva International Motor Show (GIMS) have called off the 2021 show. Considering that the show typically takes place in March, this announcement suggests that it
may be quite a while before things return to normal in the automotive world.
| | |
Autoblog—Coronavirus lockdowns led to huge reductions in traffic and fewer car crashes this spring, but as drivers sped up on quieter roads, the collisions became deadlier in several cities, a Reuters analysis shows.
|
| | TheSmokingTire via YouTube—The Porsche Cayman GT4 may just be facelifted for 2020, but it's what's underneath that counts: a new 4.0L, naturally aspirated engine shared with the Boxster Spyder making 414 hp at 7600 RPM, a front axle shared with the GT3, the perfect six-speed shifter, and full on Porsche motorsport theater that's practical enough to use every day (with the right tires). In the land of Porsche, where price tags get way out
of hand quickly, the GT4, at around $110,000, is a spectacular value.
|
CarBuzz—Now that the core versions of the 992-generation Porsche 911 Carrera have been launched, the attention inevitably shifts to the racier GT3. We've already spotted the new GT3 out testing without too much camouflage and sporting a particularly large rear wing and vents on
the hood, just two of the changes that set the GT3 apart from lesser 911s. We've also heard the GT3's 4.0-liter flat-six engine from early 2018 tests, but a new video has emerged of the GT3 blitzing the Nurburgring and sounding as resonant as only a naturally-aspirated Porsche motor can.
