PCA—The new Porsche 911 Turbo S, based on the 992 platform, was unveiled back in March, and we’ve even had the chance to drive it twice. The general consensus is that it offers hypercar performance paired with everyday usability. Now, the "regular" turbo is upon us.

| | PCA—Not many months ago, the Porsche Experience Center in Carson, CA was teeming with life. Devotees from all over the world came to see rare cars in the lobby, peruse the gift shop, and peek inside the workshop of Porsche
Motorsport North America. In Restaurant 917, visitors could dine on mussels that would appear in a cloud of smoke and smear 911-shaped butter on warm pretzel bread. Out back, cars zipped around the track and slid to and fro over wet, slippery surfaces.

| | PCA—To continue to thrive, a club such as PCA must not only rely on its core members but continue to attract new ones. It is with this in mind that we present this issue, which focuses on the next generation of Porsche enthusiasts. Among those young members who caught the Porsche bug is Katie Mohler, a 21-year-old Bronze-certified Porsche technician and 928 owner who's “Top of the Class.” Porsche ownership is often a multi-generational affair,
as we show in “Father Knows Best” and “Humberto’s 914.” In “Changing Gears” and “Goal Oriented,” we meet two young men who took different paths to Porsche ownership but shared the common realization that nothing less than a Porsche would do. We then dive into what $15,000 can buy in “Your First Porsche.” And Ceileidh Siegel finds the perfect child car seats for young parents transporting their “Precious Cargo.”

PCA—It’s said that we’re all descended from astronomers, and our ancient ancestors used the night sky to tell stories across generations, track time, and navigate the world. When I heard about a newly discovered comet, I decided to go for a night drive in the mountains to capture
it properly.

then attempt to explain their reasoning. Up this week are a 1969 911T, 1983 928S, 1986 944 Turbo, and 2015 911 GT3.

Automobile—It's hard to pin down the Porsche 911's early history, especially around the time it made the transition from the 901 badge to the one that has become the benchmark for sports car handling and style. Take the car in these photos, for example. It's the 57th 901 built,
but it was probably completed after some of the cars marked with higher numbers. Or maybe it wasn't—even official sources differ. But it was definitely built as a 901. Or not, depending how you look at it.

| | Autocar—Six years ago, Porsche, for some vague reason nobody truly understood, decided its Boxster and Cayman replacements – models to be prefixed ‘718’ – should have four-cylinder engines.
|
| | Carscoops—The new Porsche 911 Turbo S was subjected to a quick lap of the Hockenheim GP by SportAuto’s Christian Gebhardt, who managed to post a time faster than some seriously expensive machines.

| | Hagerty—Renée Brinkerhoff and her Porsche 356 are at it again, and for a great cause. The 64-year-old racer and philanthropist has traveled the world with one goal in mind—to rescue children around the globe from human trafficking—and the final 356 miles of her personal 20,000-mile challenge will be exactly that: challenging.

Carfection via YouTube—The new Cayenne GTS brings back its V8 soundtrack and promises a more thrilling driving experience.

| | Jalopnik—Porsche will theoretically sell you a 991 GT2 RS-based 935 race car right now. I mean, not right now, because they’re sold out by now, but you know what I’m getting at. The Porsche-certified track-only car was about three quarters of a million dollars new, and they occasionally trade hands for $1.5 million now. If that’s too much for your household finances to bear, rest easy knowing that you can faithfully replicate the experience
using engineering, dumpster diving, charity, and $500.

Roadshow by CNET—Some people get too hung up on numbers. A guy on Twitter recently told me he thinks the Porsche 911 is worse with a manual transmission because it's slower than versions equipped with the PDK dual-clutch automatic. He's right about the last half of that sentence;
in terms of a Carrera S Cabriolet, there's a 0.7-second discrepancy in acceleration times, favoring the PDK. But that doesn't make it worse, buddy. Nuh-uh. No way.

with Luke via YouTube—A fun Porsche day with a KTM Surprise! Loving my new wing risers that make it look even more aggressive and now having the exhaust flaps fully open it really makes a big difference compared to stock where they were permanently closed after 2krpm! but of course still struggles with the new OPF filter. For now it's a start anyway until a new exhaust comes out.

Automobile—The go-(almost)-anywhere Porsche 911 "safari" trend is in full swing, and we've seen concept from Gemballa, Ruf, and many others. Now Delta4x4 of Germany is getting into the action with this customer commission, visualized here and due to be built in 2021. The car is a
992-generation Porsche 911 Carrera 4S, and the customer's wish is to drive straight to Dakar from his home in southern Germany. To do that, this car will need a bit of help on the rough patches.

Porsche Newsroom—The coronavirus pandemic has upended how people buy cars and also upended what kinds of cars people are buying. One throughline has been that demand for used cars is through the roof—even for used Porsches, a part of the market you might think would be a little
less impacted by the economy taking a nosedive.

Photo by Norm Sippel. Suncoast Florida Region. "Like many places, wall murals can attract visitors to towns and cities of all sizes. Not long ago, we drove our 991.1 through a town near Sebring International Raceway called Lake Placid (not to be confused with Lake Placid, New York). Among the almost 50 murals throughout this town was this one of a pair of Florida Panthers. How could I resist posing our Carrera S with the also fast panthers? The other question is, 'Are they
curious or hungry?'"
Got a stunning shot you want to share? Submit your pictures to potw@pca.org. Be sure to include your contact information, your region name, and a few sentences about your picture.
