| | PCA—2020 is a year most of us never saw coming. A lot of things we took for granted we now put into question. We know things won’t be the same anymore, but the time away from our cars, our hobby, from events and other friends
allows us to contemplate what is important to us and possibly what changes we are going to make in the years ahead.

PCA—A popular PCA member benefit is The Mart, the club’s classifieds section online and in each issue of Porsche Panorama. Mart Fresh is a bi-weekly column in which PCA media staff and guest contributors pick what they think are the "freshest" Porsches currently available, and then attempt to explain their reasoning. Up this week are a 1964 356, 1987 911 Carrera Cabriolet, 1998 Boxster, and
2012 911 Turbo S.
| | |
PCA—The Mart will likely always be a work in progress. It’s a constant object of our attention to keep it as safe a space as we can, weeding out scammers and those posing as commercial sellers. Although it looks like little has changed for some time, we haven’t been ignoring the presentation and usability of The Mart. In fact, we’ve been working on an improved version for well over a year. The
online version will make its debut on June 1, and the August issue of Porsche Panorama will reflect the changes made to the print version.

| | Ferro
& Company—We’ve always been inspired by the things, people and places we admire, so for our latest limited-edition pieces, we decided to travel back to the 1960’s era car races.
From the sweet revving sound, to the exciting smell of petrol and burnt tires, to Le Man 24-hour race, where bold and fearless drivers race the unbelievably fast cars. This is where, everywhere is quite except you hear the extremely loud engines and your own heartbeat. Hands sweating, teeth grinding, eyes wide open and heads turning for 24 hours.
|
PCA—Right now is probably a good time to clean your Porsche or other vehicles, especially the interior. While a clean, sanitized interior is always beneficial to good health, it is especially so during the covid-19 pandemic. Fortunately Porsche Cars North America was happy to share an internal document that details how Porsche dealers have been instructed to sanitize vehicles before they are
delivered to customers.
| | |
| | PCA—For the first time ever, the Porsche Club of America will race door-to-door against the Porsche Club Great Britain in a two-race sim racing series. PCA—In Episode 3 of Tech Tactics Live, we install a new steering wheel and steering column switch in a 1987 Porsche 911. This video originally aired May 2.

to get started and gain skills before the big fall Series 5 kick off.

The Drive—If you have trypophobia—a fear of holes—you probably want to look away now. Porsche connoisseur Richard King was determined to make his 1968 Porsche 911 the lightest 911 of all time and he's doing it in a rather extreme way.
| | |
| | PCA—Due to the novel Coronavirus and the disease it causes, COVID-19, automotive events around the world have been postponed or cancelled, and events held by and/or related to Porsche Club of America are no exception. Below is a list of PCA National and Porsche-related events and their current statuses. We will update this page as more information becomes available. PCA National-hosted events are in bold.
|
Top Gear via YouTube—Amidst Tesla's domination of the performance EV world, here's Porsche's answer - the Taycan Turbo S. With a back-thumping 761bhp and four-wheel drive it's definitely quick, but just how well does it do the twisty stuff?
| | |
| | Car
and Driver—Emotion is often collateral damage to the grind of technological progress. We're not implying that cars have feelings—at least we wouldn't say it publicly, because that's a fast track to a padded room—but the best cars stir emotion in their drivers.
|
Carfection via YouTube—The Porsche Taycan is fun to drive, but is it as fun as ice drifting a 911 GT3? Drifting on ice is fun, drifting on ice in a Porsche is even more fun getting to do it in a 911 GT3, a Carrera 4S, a Cayman GT4 Clubsport and a Taycan is just heavenForce Pro is THE place to go if you're interested in spending a few days learning how to have sideways fun in a bunch of
different Porsches. But which is more fun slide around on the ice and snow?
| | |
| | The
Drive—The Porsche Cayenne is a heck of a lot more capable on rugged terrain than it's given credit for, but the Carrera 911? Without a lift or some serious hardware changes like tires and wheels? Not really. That didn't stop the Bulgarian owner of a new, 992-generation 911 from taking it anywhere he darn well pleases though, as evidenced by a video that recently surfaced on social media.
|
Motor1—If you're a diehard Porsche fan, especially of the 993 generation of the 911, then the Espresso Veloce RS Black Edition would be a great way to decorate your kitchen. The device's shape pays tribute to the look of the model's flat-six engine. The price of putting this piece of automotive art in your home is a rather steep €10,200 ($11,121 at current exchange rates), and the company is
making just 993 of them.
| | |
| | TheSmokingTire via YouTube—The Porsche Macan is, in our opinion, the gold standard of crossovers, in all trims. In the last five years, it's probably the vehicle I've recommended most to everyday folks and enthusiasts looking for a comfortable, sporty daily driver. This, 'Turbo' Version is the big dog with all the goodies: a 434HP twin-turbo V6, Porsche Torque Vectoring, Ceramic Brakes, Sport Chrono package, and painted in my favorite modern
Porsche color: Miami Blue. The goal for many regular folks is to find a "crossover that drives like a car." Well, the Macan Turbo drives like a leather-wrapped rally car; about as good as it gets.
|
Car and Driver—Malibu, California, is a Porsche town. Always has been. This is where Steve McQueen cruised the Pacific Coast Highway (PCH) in his black 356 Speedster, Slate Gray 911 Turbo, and the 911S he shipped home from the set of Le Mans. These days, this coastal enclave to the stars is thick with modern 911s, Caymans, Boxsters, and Cayennes, but you're also just as likely to see a Carrera
GT and some air-cooled classics—all in the same day. Stop for caffeine at the right spot and you might spot Jerry Seinfeld in his bright orange 1974 Turbo RSR.
| | |
Car and Driver—The road to Payson. Grand, sweeping arcs through the sagebrush. A fresh Arizona morning, warm and bright, the sun's anger still hours away. The dirty lumps on the horizon are the Mazatzal Mountains, far distant for a normal machine. But at 130 mph, in a tiny white Porsche pellet, time and space are compressed by quantum factors. On the road to Payson, normal measurements do not
apply.
|
| | SportsCar 365—Porsche has begun its formal concept study on LMDh following the release of the draft set of technical regulations to manufacturers.
Announced on Thursday, details on the new joint ACO-IMSA global prototype platform were confirmed to the public, including minimum weight and power output, in what the two organizations have described as an already “comprehensive and detailed” set of regulations.
|
Autocar—It’s 1994. John Major is in Number 10, Michael Schumacher is embarking on his dominance of Formula 1 and Oasis and Blur are fighting for supremacy of the airwaves.
It is also the greatest year in the history of the car. The best year of the car? What is this nonsense? How can you pick one year from more than a century of car production as the best ever?
|
SportsCar 365—Porsche has withdrawn two of its four factory GTE-Pro entries from this year’s 24 Hours of Le Mans due to the current financial and logistical uncertainties amid the coronavirus pandemic.
