PCA—Porsche's 991 GT2 RS remains the most powerful and fastest 911 ever built, able to deploy 700 horsepower with a lightning-quick seven-

automatic transmission and lap the Nürburgring in 6 minutes and 47 seconds. The 997 GT2 RS isn't quite as fast, came with a six-speed manual, and is a more visceral car to drive, but is it the better sports car? We drove both on the road and on track to find out.

PCA—Hans Mezger, the engineer behind some of Porsche’s greatest successes in motorsports and its venerable air-cooled flat six, died on June 10, 2020. He was 90 years old.
Among his many achievements are the development of the 911’s air-cooled flat six, the overall construction of the 917 (including its flat-12 engine) — Porsche’s first car to win overall at the 24 Hours of Le Mans — and a Formula 1 engine that powered McLaren's Niki Lauda and Alain Prost to several world championships.

PCA—The keys to success in racing are preparation and practice. Or you could be Bill and Don Whittington, who picked up a used 934 race car in 1978, took some driving classes, and entered the Sebring 12 Hours in their “Second-Hand Rose.” Many of us have pondered which 911
generation produced the best GT RS. Fortunately, with the help of member Sri Iyengar, Panorama was able to spend time in four special cars — the 997- and 991-generation GT2 RS, plus the 997 GT3 RS 4.0 and the 991 GT3 RS — to find out which is “The Best of the Best.” We've made the full article available to everyone online; click here to read it if you're not a

| | PCA—Today Porsche announced two new variants of the Cayenne, the GTS and GTS Coupe, which feature unique styling cues and several performance options as standard. The SUVs slot in between their S and Turbo counterparts, and are considered the sportiest in the range.

PCA—The 911 has been at the pinnacle of performance from the day it was unleashed on the public in 1964, but the most radical form of the rear-engined sports car didn’t surface until 25 years ago at the 1995 Geneva International Motor Show: the 911 GT2. Since then, Porsche has
produced several more GT2s and GT2 RSs for each successive generation of the 911.

| | Autoweek—It is quiet at Road Atlanta. Too quiet. Summer is invading the hills and hollows, and afternoons tend to move slowly in this part of the country, but the stillness today is unwelcome. We are dead in the water, staring at a car and a motorcycle that have agreed to function no more. Danny Ongais has been here before, in this situation, and in this place, too. Ongais has a reputation, right or wrong, for caning his engines until they
retch their lubricants and their moving parts right out onto the pavement. Herb Porter says it's an undeserved reputation. Porter is Indianapolis's own wizened resident builder of racing engines, and he says Ongais is too smart of a racing driver to overwork his engines on purpose. If they let go, there is probably an internal fault. The mechanical seizures suffered in Georgia today are certainly not of his doing. Call it fate. And just when Ongais was starting to cook. Damn.

report on the changes made to every variant of this unique machine, a process we started all over again 16 months ago with the introduction of the latest 911 model, code-named 992. But the joy of driving it again and again is its own reward. So, go ahead and call us 911 fanboys and fangirls; it's a badge we wear with honor.

Autocar—Speaking to Autocar before the unveiling of the new 911 Targa, Frank-Steffen Walliser admitted that it’s “not really feasible” to take Porsche’s new 4.0-litre engine (which is found in the Cayman GT4 and Boxster Spyder and detuned for use in the Cayman GTS and
Boxster GTS) and spend money on rotating it 180deg for use in the rear of the 911.
